I did not think I should join this fray but permit me to correct one impression. While the legislature makes the law, the judiciary interprets it and the law is what the courts say that it is.
You've started how it's suppose to be but I think what Abuja residents want is to ask the judiciary to compel the national assembly to give them a full ledge state status like having its governor, 3 senators, etc
These requests may be difficult..

When the capital was in Lagos there was a governor in Lagos, so why not Abuja.

Sounds like propaganda until the case is actually instituted. FCT residents don't have two heads to be hold veto power over other citizens of Nigeria. Their case will be thrown out. All the justices of the appeal and supreme courts are indigenes of certain states and you can take it to the bank that none of them will ever accept the wrong interpretation that voters in their own states are inferior to FCT residents.
No problem
Since they dont have 2 heads
They should have their governor. Simple

Yes, Good step.

Since Abuja is just like any other state, they should be allowed to also produce Governors, and Senators.

This is what you get when people call black white. Abuja doesn't have special status, but they appoint fct minister instead of electing governors. They produce only one senator instead of 3,like any other state

Wicked law officials

They will rather be demoted more than this with their demands. How on earth will a constituency that is just brought up to level of state be demanding for special status even beyond the one they ware brought up to. I tell my wife to be giving my brother the same meat as mine but my brother demands to get greater ones. Does it make sense? They can only get equal or less not more than state. It is common sense jare!

When you tell a lie, you need another hundred lies to cover up. Suffice to say that when you subjugate justice and fairness, you create ripples of other problems that turn around and hurt very well.

So, according to the PEPC judgement, Abuja is like a State and by so, deserves to have a Governor and 3 Senators.

This is a futile effort

Lawyers are wicked set of people.

The Constitution did not make provision for Abuja indegenes to elect their own Represebtatives and governor. What the constitution provided is a Minister and 1 Senator.

Did the military government that wrote this constitution not consult Abuja stakeholders then?

The original inhabitants were relocated to Niger and Nassarawa states. They were duly compensated and the federal government carved out the FCT from about three states.
So, in essence there are no Abuja indigenes anymore, or should I say indigenes of the FCT.
Oga, please stop making uninformed comments on the internet with confidence. I have been in the FCT since I was a kid because my mom was a teacher teaching in the rural areas, FCT indigenes are still very much in the FCT.

It is the constitution that gave Abuja special status and not any individual. You must obey the constitution for now. If this clause needs to be amended, then this can be looked into in the future. Let the rule of law prevail!

The supreme court like the appeal court, will uphold the constitution of equality of citizens before the law. That every vote is equal and not more important than another. The citizens are a different legal entity from the state. If FCT has a special status, fine but it does not overide equality of all citizens in every part of Nigeria as enshrined in the constitution.

No one is talking about vote but the structure of the state. What makes the place special is their structure which is distinct from any other state of the federation. Don't try to use English to blur the truth.

The judgement on this particular 25% issue and the double nomination were the most laughable of all the judgements.

The corrupt judges said that its should be referred to as a state. Oya where is the governor and what is the capital of FCT? They also ruled that shettima double nomination WAS NOT INTENTIONAL. Can you imagine? shocked shocked

And APC supporters agreed to such a fraudulent ruling. If it's like that, all those in jail for one offence or the other should be released after all they didn't do it intentionally too grin grin grin grin

NIGERIA WILL NEVER BE GREAT angry

Its Federal capital Territory, the President is Federal so he more like their Prime minister or governor , a governor can't be with President there, that why they have Wicked Wike (FCT MINISTER)

2023 Election has made people jus to read Law h constitution & ended up not to know how to Interprete its literal meaning.

So how do you explain the second republic when Lateef Jakande was governor of Lagos State and Alhaji Shehu Shagari was president in the same Lagos, or when Sir Michael Otedola was Governor and General Ibrahim Babangida was Military president in the same Lagos?

Which constitution? 25% of Abuja indeed. Next presidential candidates should focus on Abuja and ignore other states. When a group of people decide they can't read basic English and understand but will rather go a for LAUGHABLE interpretation that no court anywhere in the world will agree with, it's called mass hysteria.
You cannot support APC and still utter reasonable comments.
You need 25% of 2/3 of the 36 states and 25% of the FCT.
So according to your logic, win 25% of FCT and rest? Abi wetin you mean abeg.
