A good measure. Those things block gutters on the regular. Idiots litter them everywhere.

How about pet bottles?

The problem we have in this country is that many people dont like to be responsible. When ever they go wrong they blame the government.

Take it easy with people, abeg. Some persons business are killed by this arbitrary prohibition.
Give time for manufacturers to stop production.
Same manner you arbitrarily killed Gokada, Opay and Max

And okadas are back on the road.

Why the sudden ban ?

Do they plan to make theirs from the byproduct (petrochemicals) of the new refinery ?

Shouldn’t they have given 1 year notice, most people survive on informal business & how’d you expect struggling food vendors or takeaway sellers to cope and adapt instantly

Hope this ends well

some senseless, poverty-stricken fellows will keep giving them thumb up.

It is a good development but as you had let it in use for so long, give them some real good time to change or adjust.

My heart was broken some days ago, when Lagos State task force clamped down on Okada riders. By Festac first gate ,where I stopped, I saw over 500 bikes loaded in trucks heading towards Mile 2. The painful part is that the bikes were cease from their owners, right inside the Trade fair complex. They had nothing to do with express or highways. Tomorrow, they will force the victims into kidnapping and Lagos would start to burn

Lagos must be sanitized, it's a top priority. Those who are not comfortable with that can relocate back to their villages, it's not a must to live in Lagos !

Stryfoam should be banned, not only in
Lagos State, but all over the country.

The Lagos State government has been having different conversations with manufacturers on ways to end the use of single-use plastics in the State despite the pronouncement of the ban over 3 years ago, but the government has decided to take a bold step to stop the use, particularly styrofoam.

They just come up with useless policies for the sake of relevance. Are these the only plastic products in use? Why not invest in recycling the wastes and place multiple waste collecting bins around the city with collectors coming to pick them up every 48 hours. Make it mandatory for all business places and residential surroundings be kept clean with a fine or Community service/jail term after hearing as punishment. Then have local government officials or Health ministry officials in every local government do a weekly/fortnightly monitoring of the neighborhoods to ensure compliance

This is same as cutting the head because if headache.

Before Styrofoam people have been trashing Nylon and co always blocking drainage.. The issue is not Styrofoam it is the lack proper waste disposal which we all cause as the people. Many other sectors e.g Lab handle tons of Styrofoam but doesn't cause ecological issue.
Una de mind the idiots
They should ban plastic bottles , nylons, polythene bags and can too.....
If I'm the governor of Lagos for bring this as a solution you would be fired
Re: Styrofoam Ban: Lagos State Postpones Enforcement By 3 Weeks by MeineMutter: 10:04am On Jan 26
Manufacturers should embrace biodegradable plates.
Those chinko people know say the machine dey yanfu yanfu and recyclable papers dey here but they won’t bring such machines.
Mr hey know we jump at any thing they bring our ways.

They know they can’t try that in their countries.

Government should ban nylon bags too. If it’s not biodegradable, we shouldn’t allow it.

We need a safer and cleaner environment.

Let them go and invest in paper mills.

Lagos state government ought to have provided alternatives before banning the plastic food packs. It is very important and extremely necessary for people to buy food in packs for takeaways. Majority don't have time to visit a restaurant or bukka in a highly populated place like Lagos. Government should establish paper based food packs and also support private individuals to port to the new system

Is it that this Styrofoam cannot be recycled?

It's non recyclable and non biodegradable. Plastics are also non biodegradable but can be recycled.

They must ensure that electronics manufacturers are also not using styrofoam in packaging their goods.

I just bought a brand new blender, and Styrofoam blocks full inside the packaging.
Re: Styrofoam Ban: Lagos State Postpones Enforcement By 3 Weeks by IMMUNO1(m): 12:45pm On Jan 26
Our attitudes to environmental protection is the major problem here. Someone will buy rice and beans with oversized kpomo at the park. Keep the food until the vehicle leaves, eat it inside the vehicle and dispose the Styrofoam and spoon with water bottle out of the window of a speeding vehicle on a high way. I think they should also ban plastic drinks and plastic bottles waters, if we can't learn to dispose them properly. Now, I wonder how many families this will remove food from their tables, something a little bit caution should have taken care of.
