What is the rationale behind jettisoning an anthem written by our own indigenous folks for one penned for us by an expatriate? It makes no sense to me. Perhaps we should also change our flag back to the Union Jack. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Lol, this is certainly not one of Nigeria's current problems. Nothing wrong with the anthem, but it's just a distraction at the moment. i remember when people told Buhari that making Democracy Day to be June 12 instead of May 29 was one of the solutions to Nigeria's problems. This looks like a similar foray. 2 Likes |

mastermaestro: ONLY a mad man will think ordinary lyrics of national anthem would engender a sense of nationhood. I will advise you to do findings on several nations in which their citizens hold the country dearly, what their leaders were/are doing, that brought such engenderment* 4 Likes 1 Share |

Let the generation hail thee sing hail thee (They are wilting away like tumbleweed in whirlwind anyway) Let generation Arise o compatriot sing arise. (When you take up power, you repeal back to arise) For national / international stage - sing what you know or keep quiet. Arise yesterday, arise today, Arise forever. 2 Likes 1 Share |

olaiya2007: I still remember all my school anthems. So I am 40 years old and I should leave an anthem I have known for all my life. Imagine the confusion this would bring in schools and other places where the anthem should be recited. I will intentionally never learn this returned anthem. So many documents would become void because of this. How come nobody in the house opposed this? Because nobody cares or thinks about the wider picture in this country. 1 Like |
