Twenty Five years of unbroken democracy, how has Nigerians fared? I remember all the events that preceded May 29, 1999. There was excitement everywhere that at last the military was exiting the political stage in the annals of our history but today a lot of people will tell you that things are not in any way better, especially in these last few years! The question is, Where were you and how old were you in 1999? Is this the democracy you hoped for? Are we there yet? 47 Likes 9 Shares

Just exiting secondary school. Having participated in the June 12 political uprisings to ensure MKO Abiola reclaim his mandate, it is sad to see the present disaster on seat who claimed to be a progressive today bastardizing this nation in manner reminiscent of the inglorious Buhari’s military govt of 1984-85. SuperEagles:Below is the list of pioneer signatories in the formation of NADECO back then for your information. Show us where Tinubu name featured first before I answer how Igbos fought for June-12. 123 Likes 11 Shares

I was in secondary school and thought the military was gone for good. They only left power, they did not leave control. 100 Likes 7 Shares |

Racoon: Must you always be partisan? What is unprogressive about a government that has allowed anyone, including yourself, to vent their frustration without any reprisal or consequences? Does progressive mean government policies will favour everyone? That your preferred candidate was defeated by a political superior is not the end of progressive politics? 66 Likes 10 Shares |

On this very day back in ´´99 a lot of us came out on the streets to celebrate the inauguration of Gen Obassanjo as president and the return to democracy. We were very young, impressionable university students back then but 25 years later, I am thoroughly disillusioned with the direction the country has been going since then. No need for long epistles 46 Likes 1 Share |

I was in Primary School. Then When I returned back from School, I used to Buy N10 beans, N10 rice and N10 Kpomor to eat as Afternoon food. Now eating N1000 meal looks like eating Biscuits and Pure water. 88 Likes 5 Shares |

The year I got admission...lots of hope and excitement filled the air. Took a luxurious bus from Onitsha to ABA and then from Aba to Calabar via Crosslines bus. 25 years after, nothing positive have changed in the country, the country keep retrogressing. I have stopped praying for a better Nigeria and now praying for myself and loved ones. 16 Likes 1 Share |

Without fear of contradiction, I can proudly say that democracy hasn't worked in Nigeria. Unfortunately, there's no better alternative! 21 Likes 1 Share |

Obasanjo did so well. He virtually paid off Nigeria’s external debts. The telecom revolution created so many jobs directly and indirectly. Many people began to sell phones and accessories; many people began to sell recharge cards, etc. Suddenly a new middle class emerged. Suddenly middle class Nigerians could afford to buy brand new cars which wasn’t the case before. In just 9 years of APC, these evil people wiped off the middle class that emerged under Obasanjo. Today no public officer can afford to buy a brand new car with their income except the person is stealing 33 Likes 5 Shares |
