This Finidi guy looks too rigid and unserious to me. I thought the rubbish he did by failing to use his subs in the friendlies was a one off, but this his list is revealing a lot. Suddenly, he has discovered that a natural left back was missing in his list. He knew Osimhen and Chekwueze were not fit, he still called them up. Osimhen just withdrew and Chukwueze will soon withdraw.

Tella OUT, Olawoyin IN according to Owngoal.

Chukwueze and Frank not fit too.

Optics don't look good on Finidi had enough time to confirm fitness and availability of players.

Pray this seeming selection cluelessness doesn't reflect in our tactics on the day

This Finidi guy is unserious. Frank Onyeka will still withdraw. It never made any sense naming Chuks in that list at all. We have Philip Otele doing well but you decided to name an injured Chuks instead.

Olawoyin and Suleiman Sani call ups are VERY positive ones. That Suleiman looks like the REAL DEAL. Chukwueze won't be missed.

I pray Frank the Tank is fit o! We need him in that midfield.

Bro I believe all dis late call ups are his real intent …na because of una ,make am call dem unfit chukwueze, and oda regular names we fans would like to c …it’s obvious he tried to please d fans also cos I am sure if he had called up all dese names earlier ,80percent of d fans would call for his head for introducing too many new players most especially d local ones ahead of crucial games

I still believe in finidi though 😎

When it comes to transfers it's all noise until clubs put the money 🤑💰 on the table.

When several teams are putting bids in and declaring contract terms in direct competition with other clubs to sign you it's a reflection of quality and a player's high quality rating.

Tosin Adarabioyo is almost able to dictate terms.

No 1. No club is putting money in to buy him because he costs $0

No 2. The only thing it reflects are that clubs want to get a decent defender and it reflects zero money spent in their books

No3. The fact that you are relying on the Sun who you would have dismissed as gossip if it's any locally born player shows how desperate you are

Are these guys pulling out for other reasons apart from injury?

The things is even worse than I thought!

I had not even watched the interview but as soon as I saw what he quoted it was glaring Finidi was saying it is more important the players understand the overall idea and take initiative rather than a 9-1-1 or 6-6-6 formation.
people kuku understand what he’s saying it’s just the who, let a Guardiola say the same thing you’ll see how people will agree with him

The Suleiman Sani kid is an exciting player, saw him up close for Akwa utd and was mesmerized at his jaw-dropping skill, intelligence and decision making, kid won't be in the NPFL for long...I'm sorry to say this but Chukwueze won't be missed (quote me anywhere). I've learned not to be swayed by shiny toys simply because a player is in Europe.

Ibrahim Olawoyin is a breath of fresh air, can play as a natural AMF and also from the wing, with Fisayo dele-bashiru and Ibrahim Olawoyin, Iwobi's creative responsibilities and burdens should be more or less over now. Smart replacements by Finidi.

No need to sugar coat it, those foreign borns are second rate anybody that doesn't like that fact can go to hell.

Let's develop our youth system that is what has been working for us from the start instead of some players who see us as a fall back plan.

What's so special about these FBs if I may ask?

Of all the ones we've gotten, only Victor Moses was impactful and really worth it. Others have been just about average.

And of all that we have missed, only a handful went on to be world beaters .A whole lot of them hv been us dodging a huge bullet.

Reliance on FB is what is affecting Cameroon today, they have lost their identity as a team and no longer carry the fearsome reputation of time past because they've diluted the team with some overrated FBs.
it’s affecting Cameroon but it’s not affecting Algeria, Morocco and Senegal? Well done sir

this home base jamboree won’t yield anything, Keshi did it but there was no long term gain for the SE. what do I know, I’ll be here no matter what

Tella family issue, Chuks and Onyeka have had injuries long before the season ended

I think Finidi's time in the NPFL is a big factor in his team selection...there is a huge possibility that the opposition in this Window have no dossiers on the NPFL players which could be advantageous/disadvantageous depending on how the guys perform.

Chukwueze and Frank not fit too.

Was he initially on standby?

Cuz there is a timeline according to FIFA to inform a club of the invitation of a player.

Why not call up 26 initially? You have Otele, Olayinka, Ejuke, etc playing regularly at their club!

After winning u17 in 2007
I believe fifa looked into Nigerias screening
We’ve been having legit u17 players since 2013 I believe
MRI scan isn’t accurate but it’s a great screener

Frank Onyeka in my opinion is the most improved super eagles player I watched at Afcon
He didn’t play u17 championships for Nigeria
Nobody is saying until u play the U17 championship before u become successful,
but for the fact that it has produced top players for us over the years,
we should put more effort in the process of assembling formidable team to represent us than what we have witnessed recently.

we should not abandon what has been successful in the pass just because we have many foreign born scattered all over Europe, the easier route.

Exactly. Once you elevate formation above player's instinct and initiative, then the players will be stifled.

The loss was too painful for me to bear. We had two free throws and the ball with 6s to go in normal time, leading 72-71 yet we somehow allowed them to pull a draw! How? I am still in pain, my brother!

Kalakulu:

Osimhen has a spectacular record of missing key international matches/tournaments. Incredibly, the 2024 AFCON was the first international tournament in which he started a game for Nigeria 🇳🇬 (since making his debut 7 years ago!). In those 7 years, his only other tournament experience for Nigeria 🇳🇬 was playing a grand total of 45 minutes at the 2019 AFCON 5 years ago. He was also injured for the key World Cup qualifier against Ghana 🇬🇭 which Nigeria drew, and which meant Nigeria did not qualify for the World Cup.

He has an uncanny knack of getting injured or contracting Covid just before key international matches.

I'm sorry but the truth hurts, Osimhen is simply a player that CAN'T be relied upon in very important moments.
Go watch the game again
Osimhen played the game at Abuja against Ghana
Ndidi was injured
Injuries are not intentional lol
Professional football has its hazards
We have other good finishers
Moffi, Sadiq, Boniface, Onuachu, Orban can get the job done
A number of players are still nursing injuries from the physical (do or die) AFCON football
