EnglishUsa:The same place he get billions for his travel visits. The same place he gets billions to renovate offices. The same place he gets billions to buy SUV yearly for his ministers. The same place he borrowed billions of dollars for the so called supporting the Naira in the Foreign exchange so naira will rise and it amounted to nothing. The same place he gets billions to waste on his goons. If he has the money to do that then he should have the money to pay workers. You lead by example. The first thing he did immediately he entered office was to double the salary or the lawmakers and ministers. Let him find the money we don't care. Where is the billions he said he will get from the subsidy removal? |

triplechoice: Definitely the government will have to downsize but they also do not need to do such thing. They only need to deploy the civil servants to where the work to do it and not keep them muddled together in a place where no work is and many can be re-assigned to other ministries/parastals/agencies/commissions that generate revenue and grow it. There's so much the/any government can(should) do to grow the economy and grow the knowledge base of the country of civil servant. |

triplechoice: Can you hear yourself? You are bold enough to say minimum wage is not for food sellers or pepper sellers or people on the street, it is for civil servants., abi? Very selfish opinion. And thats how most of you civil servant reason. When govt removed subsidy, it affected civil servant only abi? The hard economy is biting ou civil servants alone abi? When we talk about minimum wage, is it not called National Minimum wage? When u talk about National, is it only Civil Servants ?? I hate this mentality and angle of your argument. If govt give una 70k, make una no accept, the govt should arrest all of your selfish and greedy bunch. Nonsense!!! |

triplechoice: Ah well, if there is the political will, there is a way, perhaps the civil service laws should be updated to allow it be more agile and let it run like the private sector. As to the cost, it will be expensive but we are already incurring that expense on a yearly basis with not much to show for it. |

armo: About from the cost, there are other reasons they won't sack them. Most of the civil servants you want sacked got the job,not necessarily by merit, but through political connections. They know someone who knows someone that knows the governor, or are card carrying member of the party in power and because of that employed. Moreover a lot of them are giving the government job so they can be instructed to vote for the government in power during elections:. We gave you the job. So, you must vote for us. The real civil servants are very few and most where employed when things were not as bad as they're now. |

CharleyBright: It's not my opinion please. It's what's stated in the minimum wage act I just communicated to you. Direct your anger to those who came up with the unjust law. I never mentioned that I like it that way or announced to you I'm a civil servants. Just free me Google the minimum wage act of March 2019 signed by Buhari for confirmation of those who are qualified to receive minimum wage in Nigeria. |

CharleyBright:We are talking about minimum wage for federal government employees and you're bringing restaurants into it. Are you listening to yourself |
Re: Organised Labour To NASS: We’re Fighting For Living Wage, Not Starvation Wages by CharleyBright(m): 10:02pm On Jun 09 |
Omenapounds: Here is another dumbass. What do you call minimum wage? Isnt all these talk about minimum wage for Nigerian workers? Are restaurant workers not Nigerian workers? Are private school teachers not Nigerian workers? The minimum wage Negotiations is for workers in the Public Sector, in the Private sector and the informal sector. The workers in restaurant or the bookstore or electronic shop are all in the informal sectors, the minimum wage Negotiations covers them too. The committee on minimum wage are taking into consideration all these workers. That is why the representatives of the informal sector say they can not afford to pay 60k minimum wage. Some of you dumbass on Nairaland just come up to yarn nonsense about what you don't have any understanding about while pretending to know. Am sure u are a govt worker and as usual with most of you selfishly thinking the minimum wage discussion should be all about govt workers not minding how it will affect informal sector workers. Nonsense. |
