Na person wey never earn 500k and travel before na think say N500k in Nigeria would give you a better living standard than £2,000 in the UK.

N/B: London is not the entirety of the UK.

Have you even considered security, education for ur kids, good atmosphere, and all the things you get for living there? Just by stepping into UK, 90% of your prayers here in 9ja is answered.

I understand but
Individual differences, I don't think UK/US is a passport to heaven or best life. Nigeria will be great and an so confident of that. Am not saying to japa is bad, but am sure UK was built as well by their citizens without japa then.

Okay well let me drop my 1pound advice.

If you live in Nigeria and you get a job opportunity in the UK for less than 3900 per month then sit your ass down in 9ja and endure the stress a little more. Anything less that 3500 pounds per month is not worth risking it.

After bills payments every month you don't have anything to write about savings it's just like working a circle with no progress report.
Something goes for isa and Canada too if you say otherwise no problem. Happy traveling just sell all your properties carry like 15k pounds extra for bills or you done for.
Even the UK citizens living there won't take the job not because they don't want to its because it's not worth it.
I am afraid you are wrong and don't know what you are saying. Even 2k pounds a month is 100 times better than 700k monthly in Nigeria

...my brother I concur because I am on 2.5 k a month net and live in London but always still manage to save 500 every month out of it, despite coming to three times a year to flex. The trick to living in London is do not punch above your weight.

Now we've heard it from the horse 🐎 mouth. This is someone living in London.

I still tell people, stay within your means and you will just be fine.

Most people struggling are those who always want to flex muscles with the money bags around them.

No go do pass yourself as a man is always my advice for all young men.

Even in London, you're doing well with 2.5k per month. And someone is here saying, 500k naira a month is better than 2k pounds a month in UK. In this dieing Nigeria.

Lol okay boss if you say so no problem I agree I am very wrong.
But since you are correct the let me educate u small.
Just fyi I will advise you not to convert that money to Naira and you hear the amount in Naira and be carried away just because you get paid almost 3 million Naira monthly.

No let me school you small Mr.

I know to get rid about 2000 you are paid by the hour let's say 17 pounds an hour so say u get paid 2000 pounds right now let's break it.

Rent say 900 pounds ( dead apartment ooo) cause for a well equipment apartment with up to date utilities you will be paying like 1300 to 1500 per month. For those of you living in the UK you know I am correct when it comes to rent.
2, light bill gas bill telephone bill broadcasting bill too because of you own a TV or you watch TV in the UK you must pay licensing fee. Let's say in all it will cost extra 250 to 300 pounds for this
3 transportation fee to work or gas for your car.
4 food.
5, family billing back home( which I will advise you to stop doing because to you are not an investment to them you don't owe them nothing because if you die they will continue to live)
See I don't want to continue the list goes on when it comes to living in the UK.
And 2000 is nothing i am not saying you cnt live off it but you will be living like a peasant I know what I am saying.
That's why people do 3 jobs in the UK they pay rent in the house they hardly live in because they work round the clock because they can't wise up and learn that one opportunity that will pay them better.
Nigerian what I advise is simple learn a good side skill that will put you more and then you will be a hot asset with great offer form better companies.
Our people come here and do health worker jobs tht even the UK citizens reject because it fucking stressful and less pay with stress.
If you go sell your property sy na 2000 pounds joboffer, yeah you can live off it but don't make it permanent because you will not progress to the next phase in life financially with such job in the UK. Know this and know peace.

My one cent advise is Japa, even if the pay is 1k pound per month just leave Nigeria, the gains are enormous, apart from economic gains, personal development is important, your reasoning and outlook to life will change, if you live outside Nigeria for 3years you ll definitely be a changed person, more cultured and civilised, better decision making ability.

2000 pounds a month is very low in the UK currently. But if you are industrious, plan on rasing a family and giving your children fair opportunities, the UK is the better option for now. Nigeria will be "great" but it will still take quite a long while .
Nigeria will be great for your dream.

Brother, Nigeria will never be great in this generation. Don't let anyone deceive you. This generation will pass away and it will take the grace of God for this country to get better and look like western countries. There is no hope of Nigeria becoming great any time soon. Know this now and know peace. Let's stop deceiving ourselves.

I am after securing better future for my unborn kids. At least, make them have the freedom and have the world on their palms with dual citizenship. That's the goal o.

I don't want Nigeria to happen to my unborn kids o. That's the goal. So, better stop hoping and start having plan B now. No put your hope on Nigeria o. I don talk my own.

That depends, is this pre tax or post tax? Also where in Nigeria/UK are you living in. Do you have a family? Overall i believe N500K is sufficient in Nigeria, that’s N6M a year. A 3 bedroom apartment in Lagos on average is about N2.3M, you still have about N4M. £2000 might seem like a lot but taxes and rent will eat deep into it.
This is after tax.

I wonder why we try to make this comparison. One interesting thing is that as of 2008, an average SEA in Bank PHB was making at least on average N225k (an equivalent of almost $2k USD) without PIP and I wonder how people come 16 years after to discuss less than $1K. Is that some progression or retrogression?

If this is earnings after tax and deductions, rent would gulp atleast half of 2000 pounds. Followed by another 400 in bills. You will still be left with maybe 600 to save.

If this is before tax, you would receive about 1600 after tax, then you can now remove your mandatory expenses.

As for 500k, it's somewhat similar spending power in Nigeria.
This sounds like it and also it's after tax and outside London

You have no argument bro,
House rents in the whole UK are not the same, there are more cheaper places to live, in life the ability to become rich is greatly dependent on your lifestyle and discipline, if you want to save money go for cheaper rents, cut down on unnecessary expenses, be focused and develop your self and you ll save money.
If you are a single man in the UK and earns 2k monthly, and you're really keen on amounting to something, your bills and monthly expenses should not exceed 1k, and save the rest.

It all depends on various factors as many have already said. Are you single, married no kids, married with kids? Where would you live in UK/Nigeria? 500k in Benin, Asaba, Kaduna, Kano....is quite different from 500k 8n Lagos, Abuja, PH. Same thing in UK 2k on London is not the same as 2k in Sheffield. Bottom line no straight forward answer.
Single with 2 kids to cater for.
