You have no argument bro,
House rents in the whole UK are not the same, there are more cheaper places to live, in life the ability to become rich is greatly dependent on your lifestyle and discipline, if you want to save money go for cheaper rents, cut down on unnecessary expenses, be focused and develop your self and you ll save money.
If you are a single man in the UK and earns 2k monthly, and you're really keen on amounting to something, your bills and monthly expenses should not exceed 1k, and save the rest.

Okay tell me pls where in the UK do you live and how much you pay.
Just rent alone because for me I think I am talking to somebody who isn't living in the UK lol.
And why am I even arguing with you.
If you live in the UK I will know.
Where you live will determine where you work in the UK.
Unless like you said you live in the other side of the city and work in the other side of the city either ways transportation go finish your money. I hope you know say for UK mostly our Nigerian people na Waka dem dey waka and bus.

Let me give my elderly advice. Let's analyze it based on the current reality of Nigeria.

As a man in this current economy, 500k can't sustain a family of 3, assuming you have a wife and a child.

Even if you are single, you can manage to go by 500k. Using myself as an example. I work from home. And I make an average of 450k-500k. Just last month here, I made 540k. But averagely, my earnings revolve around 450-550k. But I am not still satisfied even as a single guy.

I will advise you to move if the job of the 2000 pounds is already waiting for you. Below are the reasons why I will advise you to go for the UK job:

1. You will get more international exposures and recognition

2. You will be exposed to more opportunities, growth and personal developments

3. You will gain more international experiences

4. Career wise, you will add more values to yourself and CV

5. You will have more career growth

6. You will have more value for your money and standard of living

7. Your life expectancy will increase and you will live in less fear and worries

8. You will have the opportunity to become a permanent resident and possess dual citizenship in the future

So on and so forth.

Go for the UK 2000 pounds job if there is room for career growth in your job. With time, your earning will increase.

Thank you for this objective response.

Re: 500k Per Month In Nigeria Or 2000pounds Per Month In The Uk by Procashtips(m): 5:55pm On Jun 10
ceejayluv:

Well, for the averages, the 2k can be gotten in one job. Add the possibility of having multiple jobs and pooling resources with a spouse, then the current exchange rate.... there's a real feasibility of of sending home up to a million naira monthly for savings and projects.

With a spouse, household income becomes 4k

Same can be argued for those in Nigeria.

With a spouse, household income becomes ₦1m per month.

Now if their aim in the UK is to come jamanjaman and not for permanent relocation, then they don't need to spend on comfort in the UK and can easily save and send alot to Nigeria to establish something.

They can rent a shared apartment and spend as little as possible on living expenses.

Lol okay boss if you say so no problem I agree I am very wrong.
But since you are correct the let me educate u small.
Just fyi I will advise you not to convert that money to Naira and you hear the amount in Naira and be carried away just because you get paid almost 3 million Naira monthly.

No let me school you small Mr.

I know to get rid about 2000 you are paid by the hour let's say 17 pounds an hour so say u get paid 2000 pounds right now let's break it.

Rent say 900 pounds ( dead apartment ooo) cause for a well equipment apartment with up to date utilities you will be paying like 1300 to 1500 per month. For those of you living in the UK you know I am correct when it comes to rent.
2, light bill gas bill telephone bill broadcasting bill too because of you own a TV or you watch TV in the UK you must pay licensing fee. Let's say in all it will cost extra 250 to 300 pounds for this
3 transportation fee to work or gas for your car.
4 food.
5, family billing back home( which I will advise you to stop doing because to you are not an investment to them you don't owe them nothing because if you die they will continue to live)
See I don't want to continue the list goes on when it comes to living in the UK.
And 2000 is nothing i am not saying you cnt live off it but you will be living like a peasant I know what I am saying.
That's why people do 3 jobs in the UK they pay rent in the house they hardly live in because they work round the clock because they can't wise up and learn that one opportunity that will pay them better.
Nigerian what I advise is simple learn a good side skill that will put you more and then you will be a hot asset with great offer form better companies.
Our people come here and do health worker jobs tht even the UK citizens reject because it fucking stressful and less pay with stress.
If you go sell your property sy na 2000 pounds joboffer, yeah you can live off it but don't make it permanent because you will not progress to the next phase in life financially with such job in the UK. Know this and know peace.
If you have lived outside Nigeria, this your pattern of reasoning will change drastically, or maybe you are writing this to discourage people from travelling. I will tell you for free that 1k pounds salary monthly in the UK is far better than 500k monthly in Nigeria.
Secondly, you are just talking about money, what about other aspects of life, basic life amenities.
Thirdly, have you thought about personal development, when you see some Nigerians reason after you have lived abroad for sometime you ll be ashamed. Imagine how enyimba and Rangers match ended yesterday, is that how mentally stable people should tackle such issue.
Fourthly, what you can achieve in 10yrs in Nigeria, you ll achieve that in 3yrs. Let me stop here for now.

Please do the arithmetic for me, how can someone living on 500k live a comfortable life in Nigeria, because the last time I checked a flight ticket to London for holiday is over a million, a comfortable SUV is over 10 million, rent for a 2 bed flat in Ajah or anywhere in the island is over 2mllion, and installing Solar system in flat is over 4million I never put children school fees and the rest. Please break it down for me.

First, I hope you understand the difference between comfortable living and luxurious living?

People that go abroad for holidays and use above ₦10m cars are living above comfortable lifestyle.

Now lets turn the table around, can someone earning £2k pounds in the UK live the lifestyle you painted above?

500k with 10% tax. 2000 pounds you pay 40% tax.
Good roads , security , low inflation , good economy. I’ll take the UK job
20% tax and that's after you have deducted the tax-free allowance. I think it's about 12500.

So 24000 gross pay per annum, you'll only pay tax on about 11,500.

So annual tax is 11500×20%= 2300

(24000-2300)/ 12= £1808

Note : this does not include national insurance

Any reasonable person will want to live around his work place, that way you cut transport fare, alot of people in the UK have bicycles they use which is also a good way of exercising. Let me tell you, you have no reason not to make it abroad as a Nigerian, unless you didn't enter that country legally, otherwise you should be ashamed of yourself.

Okay well let me drop my 1pound advice.

If you live in Nigeria and you get a job opportunity in the UK for less than 3900 per month then sit your ass down in 9ja and endure the stress a little more. Anything less that 3500 pounds per month is not worth risking it.

After bills payments every month you don't have anything to write about savings it's just like working a circle with no progress report. Something goes for isa and Canada too if you say otherwise no problem. Happy traveling just sell all your properties carry like 15k pounds extra for bills or you done for.
Even the UK citizens living there won't take the job not because they don't want to its because it's not worth it.

Sometimes people says things that they haven't experienced nor have indept knowledge of. 3900 pounds per month is equivalent to 46,800 after tax. Someone who earns that much is far above average in the UK and can almost afford anything he/she need. I personal earn within that range and knows how much I save. Anybody earning 2000 pounds in the UK can live very comfortably anywhere outside London where he/she gets accommodation in the range of 600 to 800pounds with bills inclusive. Many people who talk of bills online don't even know what the bills are and are only talking down abroad because they don't have the opportunity. There is no comparison between UK and Nigeria in any form. Don't let anyone talk down your dream of relocation. The peace you experience here alone is priceless. If you dream of relocation, please seek advice and pursue and don't follow negative views online.

Naija is better. You may earn over that salary in a month in Naija from side hustle at work. You won't anything significant over there from side hustle apart from your full time job. Side hustle maybe in a different city. It would involve stress etc

Just fyi, I am and will be the first one rooting for anybody about to leave Nigeria for a better country.
Also I am not in any comparison okay and if you like off 2k a month am happy for you which is doable as long as you plan on living alone no land to start a family or what not.
Also if you say 2k works for you am happy and glad you make do of it but for me 2k is trash base on what i see from other people living round me and me too
Infact insurance on my 3 cars alone don cut my bills talk more tent and phone bills baba am happy for you living under 2k but still like i said earlier unless you plan to live on the low margin or should i say lower class, anybody relocating abroad should try and acquire a very marketable skill to help push them forward.
That's my own advice to anyone about to relocate.
No go sell your property think say with 2000 u go catch up for me na big NO.

This generation will pass away and it will take the grace of God for this country to get better and look like western countries. There is no hope of Nigeria becoming great any time soon. 500k with 10% tax. 2000 pounds you pay 40% tax.
Good roads , security , low inflation , good economy. I’ll take the UK job

In the west, they don't tax that way. They tax according to your income. Low income earners get low tax rate. For instance, they don't tax the first 1000 pounds for low income earners. And the tax is not up to that 40% you quoted.

Even as a single young man, I make 600k living in PH, Nigeria, but I'm still struggling. I even work from home as a tech bro, calculate money I burn on fuel daily, having a girlfriend who's yet to get a job, monthly allowance for my surviving parent, house rent of 800k per annum, the money no still reach.

And before you all attribute my struggling to my gf, I broke up with her last month and still nothing come out, it's not like she used to make excessive demands sef except when she demanded money for bone straight of 200k-300k in December, I still tell her say I no get, she vex finish calm down.

I used to pray for a 200k job just few years back but here I am doing 600k monthly, yet e no do. You don't know how little an amount is until you start making that.

I'd take the UK option with both hands.

Am so happy for your progress bro and I am sure with time you will advance in life it's a ste by step process.

Also let me tell you my own little experience too.
I have lived in the UK for. Few months and from my experience, UK is like Nigeria only thing is the environment and the light and water with small good roads.
I lived in the UK and bought my first car there after 8 months and then it got bad I had to find a way to get another one which ended up bad too ND that was when I knew that cars in the UK are valued based on its mileage.
After 1 year I saw the UK want for me I hustle my way after thinking outside the box i relocated to America where i live presently. I am also married with my daughter here living freely without fear of deportation.
Also I own 3 cars the lowest valued at 9800$ and the most expensive one is my $60,000 SUV fully paid for my my name and my wife's name infact my computer I use for just fun cost almost $3000. Dell xps15.
I have excellent credit score I live a simple happy life working on myself and my professional skills and doing what I love best I don't sell myself short for minimal jobs anymore.
My first job was a factory job all night where I stand all night shuffling dog food and was paid 15 /hr now I charge $60/hr for my time I don't work the traditional 9-5. I can keep going if you want but I don't need to brag and if you want pictures for proof I can make them available for you now. I don't need to say much.
All I can say is trust the process, have a plan A and a plan B incase A dosent work but don't go in without knowing what you up for because I have lived that experience and with that said I wish you more winning s bro.

How do you do that in London ?
....I also have a wife that works part-time and two daughters, so she takes care of some the bills and we also get child tax credit. So my job is just to pay mortgage of 900 a month, considering I bought the house of the council. I don't pay for transportation at all because I work in the heart of London, and ride to work on my bicycle thus keeping fit and saving money. If I buy clothes no designers (Primark, Tesco and Temu.) My phone is a Chinese knockoff paid for in cash so no monthly payment. Mine is £10 a month. I go to supermarket very late and buy food that is almost out of date thus very very cheap.
After all these expenses I still have about £700 to £800 at my disposal, these days sending money to naija doesn't eat into my budget to much, sending only £30 is almost 50k these days!!!!. I also buy my airline tickets using airmiles and travel to naija during UK term time.

Your question is opened based.
But I'll pick the £2000 because of the exchange rate when converting to Naira.

I'll use this analogy.
A family friend some years ago inquired from a group of friends about having to work in the Nigerian Railway which likely is a permanent job, career driven, and pensionable or take a contract work working directly under the wing of the CEO of company who has a running contract with one of the oil majors in the country.
We told him to go with the contract job.
Within the years the contract was in, he was able to purchase a land and build a befitting house for himself both in the tuwnship and in his village, have a little side investment that brings in good earnings being managed by the wife he married afterwards. Though the CEO is late and the current has been given to another person but he is not doing bad after many years.
Those of his colleagues who who are working in the Nigerian Railway are been paid less than #100k. This happened more than 7 years ago. Note these are university graduates.
So if you're business inclined and love investment portfolios kindly go for the bigger one. It would take light years for the Nigerian economy to beat the UK or it would take forever for the Naira to be stronger than the Pounds.
