Would have loved for him to stay a bit longer though and try to save his reputation. Now everybody will always remember him as the guy who lost to Benin Republic in a WC qualifier.

Many will blame the NFF for hiring him in the first place but I think his employment was justifiable.

Poor knowledge of tactics failed him. The argument that he didn't have time to get used to the team is a bad one since he served as an assistant coach on this same team during the AFCON, watching them at close range. Any coach worth his salt would have transited seamlessly into the head coach role.

Good riddance anyways. If he knows what's good for him, he should go on some coaching refresher courses before taking his next gig because he clearly still has a lot to learn tactically.

There was nothing wrong in that actually, we’ve seen assistants go on to become greater coaches. Finidi was the one who messed himself up by not managing the little success we had from Afcon, he knew where the weaknesses are but he wanted to form my own man syndrome in just few weeks to crucial World Cup qualifiers

Until you guys understand that Parking bus is not success, you will still live in the illusion that it is.

We were dross at the AFCON and were just a park bus team to the best of my knowledge.

Team wise, we.were.not growing.

Make all of them go sit down. No composure, No aura.

They keep forming the notion with their body language that naija can never again produce better players than them which is a very big lie.

That’s how Oliseh chased Enyeama away, Africa’s greatest keeper ever, I can argue that any day

What made Finidi's appointment justifiable? A coach without a UEFA Pro Coaching License or equivalent. It was just politics to remove Amunike from getting the job. That is all.

Fine, no need going to the World Cup then since we are still growing

This is not far from the truth because giving Lookman zero minutes in his first two matches was mind boggling when the other option was Moses Simon
Nothing mind boggling. It was a friendly for God's sake.

His experience coaching the team at the last AFCON in assisting capacity. It would make sense to assume he knew the players' strengths and weaknesses more than other candidates.

Remember we had little time to prepare for the qualifiers so, picking someone who was already "on the ground" was a justifiable move in my opinion.

It is not in a player's privilege and rights to give opinions on coach selection just the way no student has a right/privilege to tell his University which lecturer to hire.
players can be related more as an employee than a student. Even Fifa gives captain of national teams opportunity to voice their opinion when picking world best.

But you preferred Finidi. πŸ˜‚
finidi's highest achievement is a league title, amunike's highest achievement is an age grade competition even though he has been coaching for around 16 years. Finidi is not good but amunike is not that better as an alternative either.

there's no justification in employing finidi as Head coach, none nff almost did same with Musa Abdullahi, considering hiring because he was assistant to the previous coach.

If you go the employee route it even makes it more absurd to think an employee has the privilege to determine his superior.

Too bad all this is going to the gutters.

For a nation that is this averse to losing one would expect we prepare and plan meticulously and do things in the right manner to have a right to this kind of riot

Bro na this it's just a friendly, that's how we ignore reality facing the team. For a coach that has been with the team, his player selection was off. His substitution was off and we say its just a friendly. Oya perform magic against Benin wahala.

this is the reason local coach is not a good option for us. Imagine finidi spreading a wrong narrative against Osimhen just to cover up his cluelessness. Good Osimhen made a live video debunking and blasting finidi. Silent is not always golden

To be candid, NFF DISRESPECTED Finidi George with the demotion, plus his salary was to be REDUCED from N15m to N5m if he continued on the job.

There is no way he will continue after the press release HUMILIATION.

And what was the rationale behind giving Lookman zero minutes in his first two matches and giving the minutes to Simon Moses not even a rookie

Lookman played in the first two matches.

There was nothing mind boggling, we can't say friendlies are for trying out things with one side of our mouth and say we should use starting 11 from the other side.

By trying out new things you mean Simon Moses, if a new coach gives you zero out of 180 minutes when you are in form how would you rate him

the superior here is also an employee, he's just like a team leader. Yes few old employees opinion can be heard. Nothing unheard of there.

Someone that could not qualify under 20 for AYC. A tournament Bosso, John Obu even the below average former warri wolves coach qualified Nigeria under 20 so easily is worse abeg
