Please for now sacrifice your CV for national good. You are a local coach for God's sake.

Or are you saying that despite your being a local coach, the players will respect you?

Osimhen is one player nobody can question his determination and patriotism.
However, he was wrong for doing that live video. He might make another one to publicly apologize sha. He is a professional and all these 'portable' behaviours don't befit him. Even, if he wanted to go live at all, he should have restricted his talks to why he couldn't make it for the qualifiers. Attacking Finidi is just irrational.
true, he messed up

that report is in the media and it's a dent in the image of the player, whoever is behind it has achieved what they wanted as everyone is now bashing osihmen, can't you see the diversion in this? Let Finidi himself debunk the news and not people on his behalf

shebi we have better players than osihmen, let's go ahead and ban him from the national team. Hypocrites we are, the other day some of us questioned the attitude of an iwobi and we were told not to go there, now we should all crucify osihmen, nonsense.

Oga, what you are doing is what they call "strawman". You aren't a sticking to the conversation but arguing a point that is not made.

No one has said Osimhen should be banned, we are just pointing out that he was wrong. You can't see how illogical your argument is. Can't you see how the first best thing was for Victor himself to reach out to Finidi to clarify what he heard. He obviously has his contact like he affirmed in the live. Couldn't your take have been that Victor teach out to Finidi? Couldn't Victor have also reached out to the media department of the NFF and asked for clarification? He could easily have asked that they release a statement debunking the allegation if that would help. Like I said, there was a thousand other ways this could have been resolved, but he chose to act like a child.

I saw th headline a few days ago and didn't even bother to read it. The first thing that came to my mind was that it was clickbait. The second which every Nigerian agrees with is that no one can't doubt Victor's commitment to the team. Even his haters no that. It was a non story from the very beginning. His reacting the way he did however gave life to it.

Osimhen needs to be calming down. Unfortunately this flawed character trait of his allowing emotions to control you is unbecoming.

Whatever Finidi said or did they are channels to express your grievances not coming on instagram live when you know be Portable. His team should try and talk sense to him when he has calmed down.

Everybody and his dog knows that if there's anything you can accuse Victor of lack of commitment isn't one of them. Guy didn't need to get worked up..

As for Finidi this episode shows why unfortunately he wasn't suited for the SE job. Man management is one of two top skills every coach should have but just don't understand why he had to comment on Victor like that.

All this doesn't help morale in camp. The new coach get plenty work to do.

Finidi is a quiet man but after his appointment he did media rounds. When I watched his interview on Arisetv, I got a deflated feeling and I lost motivation to watch his other interviews. He did not present the image of a confident man. There's something about the way a man talks that can be telling.

It's easy to say this things now but I wish he had succeeded. I really wished he did.

Do you think NFF have the intelligence to create such protocols?

If they had the intelligence then Finidi would have never been the coach because they would have sacked him for trying to get opposition players jersey..

Osimhen is venting because some people in the NFF would have pressured him to play with the injury.. NFF itself did not pick the right dates for the qualifiers and consider players recovery between games..

Osimhen was right in his reaction especially if it makes the sports ministry and NFF to create protocols to favor the S.E, flying eagles and U17 especially during the CAF qualifiers.

I disagree sir, osimhen na proper 9ja street boy, he loves his country genuinely,
This Instagram live is just a momental break down, and his outburst is as a result of built up pressure..

He messed up sincerely.... Nevertheless I still blame Finidi!!
What do u disagree on?
That what Osimhen did was unprofessional?
Or that there are better ways he should have handled things?

except you have not followed the eagles for long, once a player is about to be axed from the national team, he will be termed as disrespectful and before you know it that's the end of the player's national team journey perhaps the reason for his outburst, all that you are saying is not even the real issue as the player in question did not even play in any of the qualifiers so why make him the major subject now? that's how enyeama was thrown out after a row with Oliseh and same thing is about to happen again. Is it fair that a player who did not feature in the matches should be the one taking the major hit now? Think again or continue to focus on his reactions as if that's what will make us qualify for the world cup.

Again, stop strawmaning. Finidi's competence as a coach has little bearing to do with the matter at hand. What protocols are you even refering to? I said there are legitimate channels where Victor could have aired his grievances including reaching out to Finidi himself.

Ok dates, NFF can't on their own pick dates, FIFA sets a window and teams are expected to choose a date within that window. It's why you'll notice every African country played within the time alloted and no one is playing a qualifiers today. At best you'll have a day difference but still within the window. Victor obviously couldn't have recovered early enough to make any of those games.

Again, don't conflate issues, Victor was wrong simple.

It's all planwork to blame a player who did not even play at all for all the rubbish the coach and other players played.

Leave that theorist. I like beautiful football wella. In fact just by my idols of the game - Maradona, Zidane, Figo, Beckham, Ronaldinho, Zamorano, Owen, Ronaldo de Lima, Bergkamp, Maldini, Baggio - you will know that I love beautiful football but we must salute the Peseiro's pragmatism which wasn't even planned because it's something he kinda stumbled on right in the thick of Afcon.
That's the word, pragmatism. Peseiro before AFCON was attack minded, we see how he leaked goals. Lost 5 matches out of the first 7! Even the first game at AFCON we saw how the team kept creating chances.

Injury hit and he adopted defensive compactness and rode it to the final. I hold the opinion the man could have built on AFCON and incorporated ideas but the majority nor want am

Victor is complaining about the NFF and the coaches inviting players that are nursing injuries.. Enyeama once said people won't know the injuries he played through for the S.E.

Osimhen is 100% right..

Let the NFF address the overage players playing in the NPFL with fake ages and build a league with high standards so that true talents are produced by the NPFL..

The tone at which he used while addressing the coach by his name and the choice of words he used mirrors unprofessionalism.

His reaction was so diplomatic when he was in a racial situation at his club, I am not saying the Finidi is right but I am just calling out this selective rage..

i b osimhen huge fan, but he should better change and stop that useless attitude or step aside from super eagles.
before osimhen there was super eagles, before osimhen we have been qualifying for the WC back to back with exception of 2006 WC…u cant come and be rubbishing Findi George that way…if Finidi has said those words, he should also come in professional manner to counter him…you are giving your all for Nigeria means you should disrespect and disregard legends that also spilled blood for the country in the past. NONSENSE!!
-can Messi blast Maradona that way if maradona criticize him?
Meaning a small boy like him can just come gruesomely unprofessional at Okocha, Yekini, Siasia,Amunike etc because he was wrongly criticized all in the name of he has achieved some feat in football?
On live video dey yan nonsense “ ogun kee you” bla bla bla
just keep further disgracing the country on social media because u be star boy
we played Ghana while you were there we no fit win them, we played another match with Ghana without you we beat Ghana 🇬🇭.
100 💯 percent respect for Osimhen but let him air his grievances like a sane person not an insane person.
Imagine curses wey player dey rain on live video..Na you b the only person wey dem criticize…oga jaah comot for SE if you don tire
why Enyeama no open live video start to dey speak ibibio or anang to finish Oliseh

Having read several pages,I have a question for @thegoodjoe. What exactly is the rationale for wanting the super eagles to play tiki taka. Considering it's obvious we don't have the technical players for it, not enough time to coaches to implement the ideas, the playing pitches are most time terrible, we probably can't afford a guardiola level coach.
Even when pep himself got to man city he had to sell almost the players he met to get new ones that are better suited to play the way he wants cos no matter of coaching can turn a mangala to Ruben dias

Perception. How do our players perceive our local coaches? That's where local coaches fail or succeed. It's not about competence. It's perception.
I never knew there was going to be an outburst from one of the team's star players before I concurred with you on this.

The recent chaos in the Eagles' camp further corroborate the above assertion.

Our local coaches, be it ex-international or not, must first prove their mettle both home and away before being considered for the NT role.

It is no brainer that without this, no Nigeria senior player will respect and submit to such class of coaches.

Ex-international should forget their legendary status, humble themselves and build their portfolios before thinking of taking national team coaching role.

Enyeama and Oliseh Dejavu! Unless we learn, we will continue to go in cycles.

My summation.

this our arrogance will never get us anywhere, we keep denying the fact that the coach had to make do with the materials he had then, I know the major grouse some of you have is the selection of players he took to the tournament but the truth remains we have tried several players and this free-flowing football we all want to see still has not happened. I wonder when it will. Thank God Paseiro is gone, I will continue to wait for the magic the next coach will do, one is down already, let's see what's next
