benji93: If stats is your argument then that is just BS. You know who averaged 5.2 pts in his one college season with over 20 mpg?, Derrick Lively, and he was drafted number 12. So college stats, especially from the 1st college year, are not exactly useful for guys projected to be role players. 1 Like |
Re: The NBA Begins by benji93: 8:07pm On Jul 05 |
This is a typical Le '4-6' fan argument . I hope you are not. You elected to omit that Lively was 7'1 and averaged 2.4 blocks per game. That's a very important start for drafting a center. Or are u new to the NBA? You can certainly do better. Go to your WhatsApp group and find me better examples pls. Khanben: 3 Likes 1 Share |

Be smart man. First of , you draft based on the information you have. That's the smart way to draft. And he did carry some of it into the NBA. He averaged 8.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game in 24 minutes. That's very decent for a rookie. Why won't you at least check the stats before replying? steady986: 2 Likes 1 Share |

benji93:Bronsexuals dey compare under size guard wey no fit shoot to a 7ft big man that can protect the rim and is mobile and athletic. If you are a GM looking at the upside with guys like Wemby, Joker, AD, Embiid, Tingus Pingus in the league it's a no brainer Anyway no ill will towards the kid, we all know he was handed a roster spot. No be crime but asking us not to point it out is where y'all are taking the piss Summer League dey come. Let's see if they would have the courage to play him 2 Likes 1 Share |

Roland17:No him playing is fait accompli but I doubt in the summer league is what I'm saying. They are now a banter franchise. You can see no serious minded player or coach wan come there. They have showed you winning is not their priority with all their moves Why I think they might hold him out for summer league is if he struggles it won't bode well for the season. The optics and chatter would be nuclear so them fit wan avoid am altogether |
Re: The NBA Begins by benji93: 5:30am On Jul 06 |
Be smart. How many Rookies come into the NBA and dominate? They start with limited minutes. The experience he would have had playing more regularly for Texas he had playing for a professional team in Australia. Someone being drafted from a professional league is treated differently from one from a college team, as they should. steady986: |

Roland17: I feel like Lebron made a very selfish move here. Maybe with time I will understand it, but I feel like he has unwittingly used his son to generate more news at the expense of his son's career. It would have been better for the boy to start out on his own on some other team, and grow into his own man. This feels like "the decision" part 2. Except his son is now in the circus. Anyhow this is a father-son thing and I got mines, but I think you gotta be careful with this love thing. Too much can be as bad as too little. I dont like this target and pressure on the boy's back! I hope Im wrong, but when I think how long it took Tatum to come into his own, in spite of the skill set, does LA have the patience for this? I dont think so. 3 Likes |
Re: The NBA Begins by birdman(m): 4:39pm On Jul 06 |
A40: Jeanie Buss underestimated what a serious minded guy like Jerry West brings to the table. Its not just the players, its also what you surround them with, which is why a good GM is always part of a championship team. She let her personal animus get in the way of business sense. Eventually even Jerry Wests proteges Kuptchak and her brother were also booted. Lakers have gone downhill since then. After that ring with Lebron, that squad should have been kept as is! Jeanie sweetened the pain a bit by hiring Magic as long with Pelinka, but in the long run, you can now see Pelinka is really her guy. Magic was just hired to contain the initial fallout. Apparently Pelinka and Jeanie buss love the spotlight and can be very petty. I can see why any basketball player would think thrice before going to lakerland. I salute Lebron for investing his family into this quagmire Well sha, he too loves noise and spotlight, so, I guess they kinda fit. He should sha remember they can get petty. They dont play nice guy like you do in the playofs Lebron! |
Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 7:09pm On Jul 06 |
benji93: 1.4 blocks is what any average center averages in the NBA. You claim he was drafted because he was a Walker Kessler or something. Go check his block numbers. |
Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 7:19pm On Jul 06 |
If you want to get pissed by Bronny getting drafted by the Lakers due to nepotism. Then get pissed. No dey use cute words to mask your anger LeBron is the greatest player in the world and he does whatever he wants. That's what playing 21 years in the NBA gets you. If you want to wish Bronny James bad because you hate his father, then get at it. No dey disguise. We know what you haters are capable of. Stop acting all nice |
Re: The NBA Begins by benji93: 7:29pm On Jul 06 |
Speak for yourself please. Don't say i claimed sth when i didn't. If you have forgotten what i wrote go back and check. 1.4 blocks per game is actually better than average and that for his Rookie season. Do your comparative analysis properly man. My point was you draft based on the information you have. His University stats clearly suggests that he was at least a good defensive center. Very simple And are you serious at all? I quoted his block average in response to your post, but you still ask me to check to go and check? steady986: 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 1:52am On Jul 07 |
birdman:Lakers are a very funny conundrum. Glamor franchise with the 'poorest' owner in the league What they had in the past was the name recognition and Jerry West who had elite eye for talent and the aura to sell you on the Lakers. You think West drafts better than Lonzo and Ingram? With the top 2 picks back to back? Most likely The problem today is that it is no longer the case, the perception ever since the Magic/Pelinka beef is that they are now a bit of a circus. Now LeBron is not the orisun of the drama what he is though is the catalyst, he's come and seen that this franchise has no proper backbone and so has commandeered it to his wishes. This off-season was the final chapter of the takeover The problem now is he wants to have his cake and eat it too. You can't serve God and Mammon. You can't pull all these stunts and think you will attract anyone who is not desperate. No serious player that wants a ring is gonna come there cos they're not sure a ring is the priority Klay basically flipped the bird on his dad and refused to meet the team that pays his dad and reportedly offered him more money, let that sink in. 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: The NBA Begins by birdman(m): 2:56am On Jul 07 |
A40: After taxes, it was less money. Still though, even his dad's history was not enough. Same with Derozan. LA is hometown and was a perfect fit! |

A40: I think we have to cut the Lakers some slack sha. It's the most demanding job in the NBA as a GM, coach or player. The fan base is delusional and expects to win every year, media circus around the team is hysterical while previous club legends put crazy pressure on the team to win. The Lakers is a team that the GMs can't afford multi-year methodical slow rebuilds especially when you now have lebron on the roster. So the GM is always going to have to hit or miss moves to win now. For all the great job Sam presti and Danny ainge have done to stack bazillions of picks, Rob pelinka has won a ring before them and in this league winning is everything. I think what the Lakers need to do now is avoid mortgaging their future picks to placate LeBron which they have smartly done recently. In two years time, they can start a rebuild. 3 Likes |

Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 7:12pm On Jul 07 |

Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 1:38am On Jul 08 |
birdman: I agree but he is going to be a starter and that is going to affect the pace and style of their game. Also, DeRozan doesn’t play off the ball which will mess their chemistry. 1 Like 2 Shares |
Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 4:44am On Jul 08 |
benji93: Which is why one went 12th and the other 55th, which is exactly what you are forgetting. All of a sudden the 55th pick in the nba draft has become a big deal. Was the pick driven by nepotism? Yes, but the idea that the 55th pick in the nba is an asset is just laughable. |
Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 4:49am On Jul 08 |
steady986: That is what is baffling me about all this Bronny talk. Even in great nba drafts as soon as you start leaving the 10th pick, almost all the choices are flyers, with teams either betting on high side or being comfortable with the floor of the particular pick. The fact people are trying to claim the 55th pick is all of a sudden something important is just straight up hate and I cannot fathom living a life where someone who doesn't know you exist can live rent free in people's heads like this 1 Like |
Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 4:59am On Jul 08 |
donlittle25: Another case of revisionist history, who was going to the Lakers before LeBron choose to go there? Answer Nobody. At the tail end of kobe's career and before LeBron choose them the Lakers was in the doldrums of the nba and nobody wanted any part of that stink. |
Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 5:06am On Jul 08 |
A40: I agree that LeBron commandeered as much power as he could hold since he got to the Lakers. But to give the man his due he just took a pay cut that is the equivalent of his son's first 2 years salary. So in essence he his paying for his son to play with him for the 2years that he just signed, and at the same time, helping the Lakers stay under the second apron. |
Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 5:12am On Jul 08 |
etidy: Agreed, one thing Lakers fans and most of the league has forgotten is how bad the Lakers were since kobe last contract and all through before LeBron choose to go there. If the nba is all about winning the chip, the Lakers have the jewelry to say they got to the top of the hill. Ainge with his stack the picks model, didn't win it all, it took Brad with his all in approach to give the Celtics a legitimate shot and they made it count. Does anyone here think Ainge would have made the White, Kristaps or Jrue trade especially with knowing he had to pay them sooner than later 1 Like |
Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 5:17am On Jul 08 |
birdman: The fit is a bit weird to me, the Kings love to play fast and move the ball a lot in the half court. Derozan for all his shot making is a ball stopper. Also this doesn't move the needle defensively at all. IMHO, the kings just moved off a player who is a better fit for their team, but one who chokes big time in the playoffs, for a player who is definitely not a good fit, but one who is way better at getting you a bucket when you need one 1 Like 1 Share |
