Hello Nairaland lawyers please i need your advice.
My mother and elder sister sold our late father's house secretly without our consent around february this year but we just found out only recently. It's a 4 bedroom bungalow. The buyer has completed renovation.Have we lost out? They didn't share the money they are holding on to it.Is there anything that can be done at this point in time?

Your mother is either a wicked woman or maybe you're a useless child .

Either of the two .

So she keeping the money from you, so you don't squander it

Probably you wanted to sell it first to squander the money. They were smarter than you to know your plans. When you get sense, they'll give you your own share of the money.

Another reason why men should enjoy their lives while they are still alive in stead of acquiring different properties all in the name of --'I am securing my children's future by building houses and land".

Cuz the moment after you die,the way those your so-called children and wife go do collabor just to dey whip-whip and sell sell your properties go even shock you for your grave undecided

If u are the most senior and a responsible fellow,u will win this case and the buyer would definitely want to have some settlements with u.

Only if the family has not tagged u as a prodigal son and one who is into drugs.

U no suppose talk.e no concern you. Na property wey belong to both your dad and his wife. In his absence, she can decide what happens. When u get your own, u can decide, not your kids. secondly let's say your both parents are gone, that property will belong to all children, not only first born. Are the others not kids?some Firstborns believe the others are not kids, which is y my friend wey dey heavily loaded no dey comfy to build house for his father, cos their firstborn, who is lazy, may claim it. He renovated his dad's house instead. He was asked by the first child to build an upstairs for their parents.

People still fight over their father's properties. I never made that mistake from early in life, I told myself that I was going to build wealth and amass my properties myself.

My motto is " Whatever I do not acquire myself , does not belong to me"

Did your father pass the bungalow as a will unto you or the other kids?
If you Dad did not write it as a will down to you, remember the house belongs to your mother because she would claim the property was hr effort and that of her husband

Honestly, I am surprised at such an entitlement mentality.

I want to assume you are not from these continent, however if you must know in africa esp.. Nigeria inheritance are for children
The wife/mother is duely compensated but naa the children get the property and will manage the property
In the event of no will, the 1st child is entitled to largest share, even the law recognises the 1st born

Why should they seek your consent? Is it your personal property?

Lol. Make your money. Build your own houses. Build your businesses. Build your dynasty. Your relevance will automatically build itself. Your attention and interest will be automatically sought, so much you'll be tired.

Sigh... I wasn't even up to 16 years old when I washed my hands off anything pertaining to future fight over inheritance.

Any serious young man, even woman, should work hard and aim to make his own money and build his own legacy.

No wonder great men like Jackie Chan and Daniel Craig vowed to donate all their life earnings to charity.

After a man's death, the person who should solely be in charge of his house, in the absence of a Will and Testament ought to be his immediate surviving spouse.

All that time you use in waiting for inheritance or share of legacy suppose reach you to hustle and push to build your own.

There are orphans and kids from less privileged homes that are doing well as adults, and building their own legacies.

Fight them for your money. It is not the buyer's fault at this case. And if you drag the buyer to court, your mom and sister may end up in prison or worse if found guilty.

Oh please shut your gutters! angry what would you have used the money for? Smoke? Drink alcohol? Womanize? Go clubbing and buy 1 toothpick for 100K all in the name of Dorime right? sad

When will Nigerian men ever be Goal-driven for goodness sake? embarassed embarassed

At your age, don't you think you should be owning your own properties by now? embarassed Instead of still bragging with your mom and younger ones at home? cheesy

Your mom and elder sister did well, go and build your own property and do whatever you want with it.
