None of these men will attach their names to a protest cos when events happen and goes out of hand, the govt can come for them for instigating chaos, pin loss of lives and properties on them. These are people who have names not nameless individuals

If Abati, Falana or Utomi say they support the protest so Another person can say counter protest directed towards Utomi, Falana and Abatis properties

grin

.....Utomi really cracked me up. Baba quickly corrects Sêun. LOL!

Trump’s campaign is already struggling with this issue and to be honest, it would only get harder. Trump vs. Clinton was easier in comparison to the narratives that can be pushed with Kamala being a minority woman.

Worse still, unlike Pence, Trump got pushed to pick JD Vance who lacks the maturity with his utterances.

Trump will be fine if he just keeps it issues based. There is too much ammo for him to go for low hanging fruit.

Wasn't she supposed to be the border czar? If I'm Trump I can cook her 45minutes straight on how badly she has mangled that job and how the borders are wider than a p0rnstars caboose.

He should not let them obfuscate debates or let his ego get involved. From foreign policy (Afghanistan, Ukraine debacle) the economy and how prices of everything are through the roof. The list is endless.

He should remind them that feelings and sentiments is how they got into this mess.

How can Trump attack Kamala that won't be tagged racism or sexism?

Issue based? Trump? Hahaaaaa

Everything you have typed here is the opposite of who Trump is. Trump’s appeal, especially to his base doesn’t follow scripts.

For Kamala, part of the strategy would be to trigger Trump by raising his history women and other sensitive topics, forcing him to talk himself into trouble if he tries to match it.

It is going to be a big problem for Trump’s campaign. Trump cannot be absolved from this problem because of some of his prior history and utterances. Historically, Trump thrives going personal, I mean we both watched the debate against Biden and listened to both take personal shots, calling names.

That person that tweeted that stuff is obviously not living in Lagos. I have never seen a Statewide Oro festival

But then, I am concerned with the way the government is trying to divide and conquer the protest, rather than listen and see how to avert it.

Nigerians are suffering oh, and the people that will protest with their lives are not on social media or under NANS abi na SMA.

You will be surprised at how one small thing will spiral into a full blown chaos.

All these NLC, Ohaneze and blah blah dissociating themselves means little.

When these fed up Nigerians hit the street, you no go believe wetin you go dey read and see online.

You are very right .

The government is just playing to the gallery with all these talks of NANS withdraws today, Northern Coalition withdraws tomorrow . For over a year the government has gradually become unpopular even among the people that voted for them enmass in the north and south. The government has refused to show workings with their actions , rather all they do is send their SA’s to attack anybody that points out their failure like a rabid dog.

I personally don’t support the proposed protest because from the agenda of the protest I’ve seen , it looks like a protest that will have neither head nor tail. The whole thing just has the usual Sowore’s brashness written all over it.

Talks about scrapping 1999 constitution, scrapping the senate ,restructuring ,releasing Nnamdi Kanu, etc are not something u want to mix with a protest that is supposed to address current hardship in the country . I believe that’s why people like prof Pat Utomi, Femi Falana , etc would be excusing themselves from the protest .

The government is trying to politicize a serious issue and giving it tribal coloration. Something that didn’t work during the ENDSARS sef. Below is a video of those who sacked Oba of Lagos palace and stole his staff of office . They are obviously “Omo adugbo “ and not some “imported thugs”.

Anybody who knows Lagos Island very well will know these are likely the same set of people who torched the government properties in that same axis . Like u rightly said, these guys are not on Nairaland or twitter where the new national anthem is now “Protest in your state and not my state “ .

I doubt it’s even possible cos such move will be like government playing into the hands of the protesters.

If government in conjunction with traditional rulers decide to fix oro festival on the proposed date of protest, then it means they have given workers holiday. Such holiday will only lead to workers joining the protests instead of being at their work place ; which is not in the government’s interest one bit!

Oro doesn’t stop men from moving about. In fact it will only lead to confrontation between the oro cultists and the people who want to go about their daily lives. Even COVID-19 lockdown couldn’t stop some people from going out , Shey na oro go come stop them ?

That's my fear in all these.

I was coming back to Lagos on Saturday and we saw a village that was having its market day. We parked to get food items

One small plate of tomato was 1500..Inside village.

How many people in that village can afford it?
How many people in towns can afford it?

Nigerians are suffering oh, and God forbid if it happens, nobody will be able to talk to them.

A lot of disinformation and misinformation goes on twitter lately. Recently it was announced by Engr Tokunbo Wahab that the monthly environmental exercise will be reintroduced in Lagos state. Few days after the same person denied the news of reintroduction of monthly sanitation exercise.

Sometimes it's even difficult to know what news to believe and what news not to; even when it is coming from official sources.

I don't support the protest and I hope it doesn't degenerate into something out of hand.

But I find it funny that educated people actually think "Go to your state to protest " is a smart thing to say at this point. I mean these are people whose tax gets remitted to LIRS, people who pay Land use charge to LASG, people who pay tenement rate to their resident LGA in Lagos, people who pay different market levies and council fees to government through their market association, transporters who pay fees and levies to NURTW in Lagos etc.

These people definitely have a right to protest if they feel their taxes, rates and fees are not being utilized by the government as they deem fit.

Instead of ruling class to address the major issue and show they are willing to make sacrifices themselves, they are busy trying to make everything about "Them vs Us" smh

sen. Ajibola Bashiru: "I don't agree with that statistic"

Seun: "what's your own statistic?"

Sen. Ajibola Bahiru: "I don't know"

Such a shame ! 🤦‍♂️

Senator Ajibola Bashiru is APC’s national secretary . He was on Channels yesterday evening and all he was doing was disagreeing with inflation figures published by NBS.

The man probably believes in the “No be statistics we go chop “ mantra 🤷‍♂️

The problem is the typical organic nature of protests and how Nigeria is currently a tinderbox.
Tinubu has been acting like Nigerians have an unlimited threshold for pain.
But the events in Kenya and the potential of an African version of the Arab Spring has him restless.
He has been f*cking around. Now he is worried about finding out.

Look at the speed at which he agreed to a new minimum wage and forwarded same to the Senate.
He was going to drag that out with 2k increases for the foreseeable future.

Whatever happens, he deserves it.
But it'll be terrible if we have a Lekki 2.0 or Kenya repeats itself here.
There is a lot of anger in the country. Angry people don't tend to be disciplined.
