What should be the minimum height of the king post when using stone coated roofing sheets for a three bedroom bungalow? Trying to save cost by reducing the height of the roof as low as possible

There's no maximum or minimum height for kingpost, the height of your king post is determined by the width of your building (roof span).

Considerations
Your kingpost should be high enough so that you will achieve a very good pitch. A high pitch provides adequate slope for effective rain water runoff.
Reverse is the case of low rise pitch. (Which may inadvertently cause leakage)

Another consideration is that an average height pitch makes your building more aesthetically appealing than low pitch roof

Good luck in your build.

Please guys, I need an advise on what to do next. My project is at roof stage, its a flat roof. My engr. is skeptical about using stone coated step tiles. According to him, it's not very good in flat roofs and its susceptible to leakage. And if the slope is not good, then it will soak water and leak. He believes that flat roof usually have issues and would prefer I go for Aluminum.

Personally, I feel like Shingle step tiles will last longer, and its cheaper than Aluminum. I have no issues using Aluminum but I need expert input.

Since your roof is a flat roof, it is better you use long span Aluminium with 0.55mm gauge... Using stone coat roof is for roofs with high pitch so water can easily run off....

The building is on a 25/120ft span of land so it's just 19ft wide and 52ft long. Will it be okay if the roof height/King post is just 8ft high

For those that had to deal with rising damp on their walls, what solutions have you implemented and have they worked so far or some failed.
Some people use wall tiles on external walls but the damp sometimes rise above the tiles in some cases.

For those who have used costarchem products, pls share recommendations and your particular application.

Thank you.

Yes! Definitely! However, right checks, as you mentioned, are paramount when purchasing lands/buildings anywhere and not just in Ibeju Lekki.

Quality paint and allied products is my forte but I like to share whatever knowledge that can help in line with the intention for the creation of this great thread by Hajj muftau.
I have seen different manifestations of damp.
If it's as a result of water from outside wall or across toilet and bathroom wall, using water resistant paint would prevent it.
If it's from capillary action of ground water, there is little that can be done from experience. The water would find another path of little resistance to come up if one side is blocked using any means.
If the place is tiled, it can appear as blisters over 6 feet above tiles or even appear in a separate place.
As temperature rises, water turns to vapor and rises up trying to escape and it shows as bubbles that blisters as it pushes the paint cost or even parts of plaster. After a while, it would even weaken and affect the plaster there.
What I have suggested to clients in water prone area is to use paint with low binder and applied lightly in a single coat about a feet below the surface so that ground water escapes through there and it can be repainted occasionally separate from the more expensive paint of different color above it.
I saw something even better in a site I've been engaged to supply paints. They used Tyrolean at the base round the building. This can be made lower and left unpainted round the building. The ground water would escape to the surface easily without affecting the wall or paint above it.
Having outside floor that slopes away from the building and preventing water to accumulate long round the building would also help.
I supply undercoat to seal water but there effectiveness is only where it ends except the whole room would be painted with it before screeding in a building prone to severe damp.

Lets assume the fabricator took the materials to his workshop to fabricate
Then you told him that you have 10pcs of 10mm glass that you want to use on the same project...nd the fabricator said...OGA NO WORRY BRING THE GLASS com my workshop he dey safe

Then you sent the glass there

Then few months later the fabricator called you that Oga thief don carry ur glass and my tools o

That you knw what....i will pay for the stolen items by installment, bt give me money to buy my tools back first then i will get money to buy ur materials small small

How would you feel sir?

If you don’t want dampness on your walls, use the damp protective membrane (black thick nylon) during foundation stage for your DPC. Anything outside of that is try your luck.
If you miss it at that stage, other remedies are just bandage on infected wound.

Yes rightly said, dpm or dpc from beginning..

Rising dampness is a full topics in building maintenance course.

I explained it here sometimes ago.
It’s a serious issue with very technical details to correct the problem.
I.e .(1). introduction of engineering Blk. Method
( 2) Introduction of silicon sealant solution method
(3) cathode and anode method.
These comes with a lot of explanation.
I have done like 3 buildings here in Lagos and it works likes 90pec
