The General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Dr Daniel Olukoya, said the ministry has produced the largest number of first-class graduates in Nigeria.

Speaking on Sunday during the ongoing 35th anniversary of the church and while presenting gift awards to 492 first-class graduates members of the church, Olukoya said the initiative started in 2011 with the aim of encouraging youths in the church to work harder for excellence.

The 35th anniversary convention, titled, ‘Power from on high, ‘ started on August 16 and would end today, Sunday, August 18, with a thanksgiving and holy communion.

Olukoya said, We are encouraging them to work hard, I believe MFM has the largest number of first-class graduates in Nigeria.

“In 2011, the Lord established a programme in MFM to encourage the youth. At the programme, I said to anybody who is a member of MFM and makes a first class, I will give them a car.

“Nineteen students made a first class that year, and I have given them cars, I did so at the second edition. But by the third edition, the programme galvanised MFM students to start working hard. We had 77 of them, and I couldn’t afford to give them 77 cars. I started giving money.

“The next year, it became 106. By the fifth edition in 2019, we had 329, and we gave them N250,000 each, and today, by the sixth edition, we have 492 graduates.”

Dignitaries, including Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, and Governor of Delta State, Sherrif Oborevwori, were at the service.

It is leadership tone. He finished with First Class from the prestigious University of Lagos (UNILAG) too. He has the spirit of excellence!
May God continue to bless Dr. D.K Olukoya.

Some of these pastors are funny grin

So bagging a first class is now a function of the denomination you attend?

I guess it's a contest among Pentecostal churches in Nigeria because the pastor wasn't even born yet when Catholics started bagging first class 😂

Everywhere in the world, they will confirm how educated Nigerians are. But what do they do with the education?

Use it to turn the richest country in Africa into abject Poverty stricken people after foreign oil income!

I highly doubt this is even true.

In order to arrive at this conclusion, he would have to take census of the total number of first class graduates in every branch of every denomination, including Deeper Life, Christ Embassy, RCCG, Winners etc. Not just in Lagos alone but in all the 36 states and FCT. Not just the pentecostals alone but also Catholics, Baptists, Anglicans, Lutherans etc.

I don't think someone who's supposedly that educated should be making such broad statements without facts to back them up.

Where are they now? If we have those high numbers of first class and it is not translating to creativity and societal development then....

Who’s doing the record keeping or how did he arrive at that? He needs to check what others produced as well.

The most powerful individual in a village may be the laziest elsewhere. It’s high time we celebrated entrepreneurship and productivity-mindset rather than mere cardboard that portrays first class.

True, because of the church's reward system...it pushes their members extra miles..

I remember back then, some of my set that had First and were members of MFM Students Fellowship..they were given Nissan Primera by their Headquarters.

Not sure the year Pastor Olukoya quoted here to be correct, because the people I am talking about graduated in 2009... Although, car reward came after their NYSC...maybe they were fortunate to benefit in the year 2011.

not entirely true because i also watched it live. He said it's not been proven and confirmed but he feels that mfm produces the highest first class grads. The pastor deserves accolades for not eating everything alone at least he gave them 250k cheque each for like 500 grads
