πŸŽ₯ LOTR - The Rings Of Power S01-02 (2022 - 2024) = 4/10 ❌

Gets worse with each new season. There are more females than grains of sand in the series. That's how you know it's gonna be shit.

I bet there were lots of females involved in the production of this series. There's no way a group of men would sit down and come up with this nonsense.

It is pretty optimistic of you guys going ahead to even bother with S2. I couldn't even get past 3 episodes of S1, let alone complete it.

Fantastic set design means it's very pretty to look at aesthetically but it has zero substance... absolute garb.

Bro, the LOTR trilogy got me hooked on Middle Earth. As you stated, I was optimistic that the show runners would learn their mistakes and give us a better season 2, unfortunately nothing changed.
It's not even aesthetically pleasing anymore

3 episodes in LOTR: Rings of Power

So far so good, I'm enjoying it better than S1. The stakes are higher, it's way more fast paced here than the slop fest we were forced to endure last season. But the writing still has some issues even tho better than S1.

LOTR rings of power season 2 episodes 1 to 3 is a solid 8/10 for me.
Now this is what you call the perfect definition of an Adventure, mixed with fantasy, thriller and action.

You are watching this season 2 and it feels like you are reading a book, there is something subtle and gentle about this season 2, like you are in a lecture hall and a lecturer is tutoring you on your favourite subject.
From the elves to the dwarfs to the orcs to the humans etc they all have their unique storylines it's like you are reading multiple books at the same time ⌚
One of the things i love about this season 2 is that the story isn't focused on galadriel alone, i love how it's focused on multiple personalities with their own unique plots.

The last scene of the episodes 3 got me emotional though, i feel for the blind queen and i can't wait to see what becomes of her.

My Hero Academia keeps stressing me out with every new episode. Everytime I think the heroes are finally starting to get the upper hand, Hori just dashes that hope.

Everybody talks about how Gege hates his characters but we need to have a discussion about how much suffering Horikoshi is willing to put his characters through.

Hawks, especially, has seen better shege

P.S: Shout out to Misato Fukuen, Toga Himiko's VA. She really showed out this latest episode.

Vinland Saga S2......9.9/10

The best piece of work I've watched this year.

As weirdly as it may seem with the story centred on Vikings and pillaging and conquering, this season is strongly anti-war and showcases the futility of the battle for supremacy.
Touches on every facet of life.

Talks about loss, honour, love, hate, depression, hope, greed, betrayal, brutality, kindness, anguish, pain, forgiveness, redemption and self-love.

Thorfinn's character development is the best I've ever seen on television. From a vindictive stubborn little kid, always quick to settle disputes in a battle of fists, axe and sword, impulsive, and now grown to a wise, cautious and knowledgeable young man.

Always quick to violence in his youth and doesn't mind being exploited to hurt others just so he can get what he wants; to being haunted by his misdeeds and demons to a sympathetic fellow and to finally forgiving himself for all his previous bad deeds and offering reparations for his past actions. He finally grows to use his obscene strength for the good of others and for once not geared towards himself and learns restraint as a virtue.

King Canute grows into a wise and calculative Monarch. A shadow of his former youth self β€” once a timid, feminine, cowardly prince who needed all the protection in the world and unfit for rulership. Now he grows into a wise and formidable King. Even a tough warrior to fight against.

The best character driven work I've seen of late. Character development at its peak! So many Fleshed out characters left right centre!

While the first season focused on war fighting, battles and actions scenes whilst being top tier. It showed the brutality of war and somehow glorifies it. A look at war from the lens of the warrior's perspective or the perpetrators of war and the glory war brings to the "victors". The second season tells the tales of war in the eyes of the "losers". The consequences of war and the ramifications it means for being on the losing side.

Simply put: season one dwells on war with the eyes of the "conquerors", while season two focuses on war in the lens of the "conquered".

A cautionary tale to war mongering, especially to those who doesn't fully understand what war entails or have experienced it first hand. So many philosophical teachings and questions to glean from this series. But alas, war never stops and the best way to stop war is to bring a gigantic war that stops all future wars? A utopia with a reign of peace?

It sings like poetry. This season is a love letter to poets!! It's a dialogue delight. Rich dialogue, the best I've seen in the anime genre and arguably among the best I've ever watched in any medium.
The musical score, hot damn!! The composer needs a massive raise. Perfectly encapsulates the feeling of the moment and drives home the feel of all the scenes. Talk about musical perfection. Using music score to tell a story without words. It has emotion. Unevenly balanced to denotes the various feelings going through the characters.
Superb Cinematography and animation too.

It's one TV show to make you think and stir your intellect. I can go on and on about this show without fully encapsulating what it entails. Shows how good it is.

Trust Japan to give you a masterpiece story about War. I think these people are unparalleled in war tales. While Hollywood mostly focuses on the glitzy facets of war, with the action and destruction and pillaging; trust Japanese filmmakers to give you a more personal tale and a lasting experience.

I'd easily give this my greatest anime of all time and even amongst the best TV series overall of the 21st century.

The same season was called boring by some people who wanted action every second.

Because most of the season was spent on a farm, they called it boring...

They ignored all the character work. Even side characters like Arnheid were fleshed out.

And her husband Gardar was used to critique the Vikings lifestyle and the regrets that come with loss

Yep. The more I thought about it, the more I realised how stylistically different they both are.
S1 glorifies war. S2 criticises war. They both serve as a companion piece, giving two sides of the same story.

It's one of the best things I ever watched. One of the numerous projects that poke holes at people with the mentality that "animation is inferior or meant for kids".

NGL, I initially found it premium boring and dosed off many times while watching the first few episodes last year even tho I knew it was good. The minus 0.1 points deduction that didn't give it a perfect score is for that penalisation for not enjoying it at first.

I knew I was gonna enjoy it later but at that time I couldn't digest it properly. So I left it.
The moment I realised they're both different things and wasn't going to be the same as season 1, the more I opened up to it.

It's the best character work I've ever seen for an anime. Einar back story was very captivating. Arnheid and Gardar story was very captivating and the climax of the whole season. Bruv, that shΓ―t was heartbreaking as fvvk. If they ever adapted the show/manga into live action, people go cry tire amd give it GOAT status easily.

That's why I criticise people who don't clearly understand what they are watching or the narrative a filmmaker is trying to pass. Those people who dunked at VS S2 are dumb@ss that needs to stick to action and vibes, cos even tho it felt boring and slow unlike the first, it was a storytelling masterpiece. The voice actors deserves Emmys.

That scene where the farmer β€” Arnheid's master beats her brutally rocked me to my bones. Proved the point of one bad day can turn any man, even a good man into a monster.

grin grin You can't blame anyone for wanting action every second na, especially not with what S1 gave that shift in S2 was mad and the suspense through the whole season was the hope that he will fight again. e pain me say e no fight grin grin But it's still one of my favorite anime

PACHINKO S2.....

So far so good, things progressing slowly just as the trait of the first. Looks good so far and hovers around the 7.5 rating. The WWII setting is premium and the Japanese occupation of Korea is chilling.

Tho I'd like this season to be more focused on the present and minimise the constant revisit to the past.

It's funny how some people don't realize that sharp genre switches can cause whiplash with viewers. That whole defense of accusing viewers who complained about an anime that started off as an action anime swiftly shifting to a drama anime in its second season was just silly, to put it mildly.

Social media commentary on a lot of stuff is hilarious to watch unfold in real time, really.

Aside the folks that hated on Vinland Saga S2 for hating sake, the criticism for the genre switch is valid. Returning to a show that already established itself as an action show in its first season expecting action is not irrational in any way.

A lot of viewers definitely needed to readjust to the execution, narrative style and pacing of the second season. I mean, even you admitted that it took some getting used to.

True. That switch up was m@d.... Lol... I didn't like it at first. It was like I was watching something entirely different.

Yeah, I'm mostly refering to people that just wanted to hate on it for no reason. If someone wasn't patient enough to finish the whole season 2 and quit midway I'd understand. My problem is mainly with people who actually finished the show.
Of course it was switched, but you could still see the quality despite not liking it.

After the second season, it doesn't really have the same effect. Difficult to catch people by surprise twice with the same trick.

Vinland Saga, for example, could delve into horror for its third season but by then, the viewers won't be caught off guard as they were with the second season
