Any update on your portal?

Hi house, Anyone for Lagos embassy who has been able to book appointment on the new portal?

I don’t want to look somehow or something..but this new US visa booking website we’re paying money into, has the US embassy themselves even said anything about this website? I’m starting to feel somehow ..it’s been days we’ve paid yet nothing is showing whatever..

Who has been able to successfully book appointments?

Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by VincentTobe: 12:28pm On Sep 05
Good day please . I have applied for a new passport but my capturing is scheduled on the day of my visa interview. The passport isn’t expired, but it expires a month after my program in the U.S ends and the new embassy policy is to come with a passport 6 months beyond program end date( as stated on the appointment confirmation)
My passport expires in 2026, should I proceed with my current passport for visa interview or should I cancel the visa appointment and go for my passport capturing and wait for a new interview date. Please I need your help

Up till now, I haven't received any email in regards to updating my profile in the new website. I already booked an appointment due for October in the previous website.
I don't know what to do. I've been checking everywhere and refreshing my email, nothing is coming up.
Anyone with the same experience?
What's the way forward peeps?

you will definitely receive activation mail from them, so long as your email remains active. Just expect the mail within two weeks of your appointment date or even before then

I don’t think it’s a new policy. But people say it doesn’t matter. I think we should confirm sha before rescheduling or anything

Rescheduling the visa interview till after your new passport is obtained is the safest option. It may cause a delay in your procedure, but it will guarantee that you follow the six-month rules.

Hey 🤠

1. If you cancel your present VISA appointment, you might also have canceled greater opportunities which might take longer to come again.

2. Think about forfeiting MRV payment, current admission, possible F-1 VISA issuance, current appointment date, and the
had i known, or i might have gotten the VISA thinkings, that will usually come to your head starting from the date of your forfeited appointment.

3. Naturally, 6- months beyond study is the rule but F-1 VISA is issued indefinitely, which means that " You can continue your study up to a PhD level ,even after the expiration of your passport while you are still over there in the USA. Although, a hard-line - consular officer might use the opportunity of the rule to reject your VISA application.

4. If i were in your shoes, i will attend the interview with my current passport , and it pays if the consular denied my application, than for me to forfeit MRV and possible VISA success cowardly.

5. If, however you can successfully reschedule your current appointment into a future date, and fast-tract the collection of your passport , as well as maintaining your current admission , then you may go for the re-issuance of another travel passport.

Best Wishes 🙏

Thank you for your response sir, yes by canceling the appointment I actually meant ‘rescheduling’ until my new passport is ready.
And please if I try to reschedule my appointment will it automatically cancel the current interview date I already secured. Thank you

1. Yes. If you rescheduled to like December, 2024 , it would automatically cancel the present appointment, therefore, the USA embassy will then be expecting you again by December.

Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Drebal: 5:34pm On Sep 05
Hello everyone .. my parents will be having their interview next week. I have made their appointment since year 2022. I just updated their DS160 but I am having issues logging into https://portal.ustraveldocs.com/ to update the DS160 profile number on their schedule.

Is anyone also having issues with the date scheduling website ? I would appreciate any assistance i can get on this.

I have also emailed the embassy but no response.

Thank you.

Sorry for bothering you again sir. I have seen other available dates for rescheduling but I have already selected a certain intended arrival date in my ds160 and also on the new AVits website. The dates I’m seeing now for rescheduling surpasses it but it’s this Same September. Please do you think I should go ahead with rescheduling or do I need to fill another ds160 with a new arrival date. Thank you!

1. Reschedule to another date first. You will fill another DS-160 to match with the new arrival date later, and update it to match with appointment letter. You can fill DS-160 as many time as you want if you need to add or remove an information. You can also update your info on the AVITS profile. Go ahead and reschedule first.
