anybody has experience on how the usa views someone, whose spouse is an asylum seeker in the usa based on the kids who are citizens.
would they just summarily reject the visa application cos of the spouse asylum without looking at the merits of the case and the persons clean sheet of visiting the usa and returning without overstaying?

1. Even, if your spouse is the most notorious criminal in the USA, the USA embassy will still give you the Equal Opportunity and Freedom of Rights, based on your personal profile. Therefore, if you are qualify for the VISA, they will gladly grant you.

Dear OyoTunjiUSA and Great Minds,

Firstly, thank you all for your valuable support and insights on this platform 🙏

Please, I need your advice. My brother paid the MRV post migration on the AVIT through FBK for F1 visa. And later attempted to book an appointment but his profile is stuck on "Pending Preapproval Request " for several weeks.

He has raised tickets and spoke to the Customer Services of AVIT but the issue is unresolved.

Please, what else should he do or can he do?

Much appreciated 🙏

ok thanks, really appreciate your input, i heard tales of how they would try to keep the family apart, by denying the visa of other spouse, saying they hv immigration intent, in other to force/smoke the asylee spouse back/out of usa

Hello People.... Any Pros and cons with applying for F2 for ones dependent instead of B1/B2 please?
Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by Ajala444: 6:15pm On Sep 23
I suggest you go to the OIS office for your appointment on the 2nd of October. I’m guessing you thought it was physical interview because the address on the appointment letter was Walter carrington.
If you have a visa that expired within the IW validity period, then do the drop off at OIS after booking an appointment on the oisservices website.
Best of luck!

Hello All,

I am eligible for interview waiver and had interview waiver appointment on the old platform but when I was migrated to the new one it seemed like a regular interview appointment on the appointment letter which was on the 19th of September. I couldn’t attend the interview cause of the confusion with the platform and other unforeseen circumstances , so after reading this thread I went on the OIS platform and scheduled a drop off appointment for the 2nd of October. Will there be any issues since I missed my old appointment for the 19th of September.

Please help 🙏🙏

The decision is yours to make. I would say apply for F2 if you want them staying with you while you're studying. Visit visa if you want them to visit you occasionally.

In my case, I got my F1 visa first, then applied for F2 for my dependents. But this was 10 years ago.

Depends on the grounds for asylum.
Could they reject ..of course

You can go ahead and submit your passport at the OIS office on 2nd October. There won’t be any issue as far as you are qualified for IW. I wasn’t asked for my old appointment letter when I submitted mine, just the OIS acknowledgement slip is needed.

I am a student currently on STEM OPT. I graduated in 2023, done with OPT and now 3 months into my STEM OPT. My mum wants to visit me and her interview is next month. I have three questions.

First, the DS160 on her current appointment letter was not completed because I was disappointed when I bought the MRV last year December and saw dates are 2025. I didn’t know that it expires in 30 days. Now on the new platform, it seems that can’t be updated. It used to be when I traveling 2021 because I remember still updating about 5 days before the interview in 2021. What are my options?

2. I intend to be the one paying for my mum’s trip on her DS160. Is there any downside to this? I have worked for over 16 months and capable of and she’s gonna be staying with me. Just wanna know if that is a red flag.

3. My mum’s DOB on my DS160 was August 8, 1961 but her passport is September 15, 1962. The issue really is that she doesn’t know her birth month and date as back when she grew up, their parents just tell them the season they were born and not exact months and dates. She used to use August 8 as her birthday but she later switched to September 15 which is our last born’s birthday. So what can be done in that case? Affidavit? Or it’s irrelevant?

Thanks!

Good morning

From what I have gotten on this platform, booking your interview in abuja is impossible if your DS160 form and visa fees were submitted and paid to Lagos (Please correct me if I am wrong). When I also called the embassy I was told that if I wanted to do that I would have to pay another visa fee and start all over again so I decided to remain in Lagos and hope for an earlier date. I hope this helps and I am sure someone will also add to it.

Cheers

I am currently in UK with a student visa which will expire by 2026, and my sister in USA is inviting me over for holiday.
I'm the one funding my trip and my sister is a US citizen, what should i do to high my chances of getting a visa. Having been denied a F1 visa in 2022

They are both non-immigrant visas. The processing time for the F visa is faster than the B1/B2.

I will personally pick the F-2 visa because you can stay in the US for any length of time as long as your sponsor visa is valid.

Remember that you can't work while you hold an F-2 visa, but your kids under the age of 21 can attend school.

🤠

* F2 is created for F1-VISA holders , ie wife, children , house help etc, but the only student category who have being more favourable with F2 VISA applications is PhD, followed scantily by Msc.

1. If you are on PhD (especially) or Msc with full fundings , yes F2 will be favourable in this scenario. But if you have less than 100% of funds, your F2 VISA application will be based on your family ability to proof availability of funds for the F1 dependent (s) (F2).

2. Presently, B1/B2 is more favourable, and easier to secure than F2 VISA,
except if, the F2 VISA applicant is a minor, or teenager under adulthood age.

3. F2 visa holder in America is absolutely dependent on F1 visa holder, b/cos f2 visa holder (adult) is not permitted to work, and attend degree or credit award institutions, and 75% of the time, only the change of status of F1 VISA holders in the USA can also change the status of F2 visa holders.

4. B1/B2 VISA holder , who is visiting his or her F1 partner in the USA may decide to change VISA status outside the control of F1 VISA holder, he or she can look for work, process school admission etc, and process the necessary CHANGE OF VISA status request.

PS : B1/B2 wins. But it depends on your present situation.

1. If you are on PhD in the UK , then your plan of self-funding and genuine intention may be taken in by the USA consular on 75% over 100.

2. If you are on MSc, or Bsc (scantily trusted) in the UK, you may find it harder to secure the required B2 for your desired holiday.

3. Your F1-VISA denial of the year 2022,
will still bark at you like a herding dog that hates strangers, therefore, no one can give near-accurate opinions without some hiding background of your profile being revealed.

In the old website, a group appointment was booked for my mom and dad. I decided to login to the new webiste, we are only seeing Adult applicant: 1 instead of two. What do you advise I do please? . We need to reschedule as soon as possible.

1. Reschedule and print out the new VISA appointment letter , one for each person. They should also take their previous VISA appointment letters on old website along. They will attend to them based on their previous appointment standings b/cos USA embassy still recognises pre-update appointments.

PS: This opinion is just my reasoning. Don't rely on it.

Concerning the self funding, am currently undergoing a paid placement in a sector that is in line with my current course of study, which is a full time role, i have an letter and a payslip to show for that too.

Can you explain this please
( therefore, no one can give near-accurate opinions without some hiding background of your profile being revealed)

Or can i apply without putting the 2022 visa refusal??

@yoyome20 is correct.

1. Once booked , you cannot change location on the new website (AVITS).

2. Lets assume that you were able to change OR you want to buy another MRV to rebook your appointment, it is still highly advisable that, your DS-160 location pick correspond with your desire USA embassy location. In summary. Do not take Lagos oriented DS-160 to Abuja embassy.

🤠

1. Fill another DS-160 for Mama and she should attend her interview with both old and the new DS-160s.

2. She is your mother, therefore, you have the right to stand as her funder of the trip but , provided that you can prove the financial capability. Yes, staying with you is normal since you are single and not married with kids?

3. Mama does not have a choice than to now start following the DOB on her travel passport , and write same date inside her DS-160. Always follow her travel passport information when writing her bio-data. Affidavit is irrelevant.
It is understandable that few senior citizens does not or cannot really give the accuracy of their DOB.

Visa granted this Morning in Abuja

7:45am appointment

I must a big thank you to
Annabee for always answering my questions during the waiting time for payments confirmation which took more than a week and the new updated DS160 form I filled after I have submitted the initial one.

My mum went with two DS160 forms. Why?

I filled the 1st DS160 for Lagos and from the information I got on this platform concerning no interview dates in Lagos till mid next year that made we switch to Abuja.

So when making payment I picked Abuja for interview.

All I needed to do was to fill another form for Abuja. And she went with it.

Looking forward to my own interview in London come January 2025.

Cheers 🙏

Your dom card for which bank please? I have tried 2 foreign and 2 local USD cards and it keeps failing.

It's so sad because I may have to forfeit the money paid to First Bank since i am not able to proceed beyond verifying the payment.

Hey 🤠

* @lantrezo, and @Kavanaexchange.

1. You guys should be clapping for the IT staffs @AVITS b/cos they are attending to millions of VISA applicants daily , with possible under staff.

2. The best things to do in all of your situations are to raise a ticket, call the helpline , restart your browser, login and log out , change your browser etc, and go home ,and be watching television instead of developing hypertension, while checking once in a day for positive outcome.

3. AVITS staffs are treating your tickets randomly, so it's a kind of game of luck, but every ticket will be treated. Their system is also undergoing trial and error era, which is expected to continue all through 2024.

PS: Patient is all you need.

Best Wishes 🙏
