Hmmmmm! But at 18.8% investing in Treasury Bill is a bad idea, when inflation is 34.8%. Except perhaps you don't have any need for the cash but I believe investment in the NGX will give far better returns than this oversense by CBN bcoz of excess supply.

Inflation is the rate of change in prices from one year to another. The government is proposing inflation rate of 15% which will make 20% even more juicy.

Let's say they manage to achieve 25%, it's still around the yield you get from treasury bills.

If your argument is that inflation will continue at 34% within the next one year, then that makes Tbills less desirable. Unfortunately, there are hardly any better options for risk averse investors especially for those with huge funds.

Please, I hope this rate is not secondary market oooo? Cos I am still confused as to how they came about that figure for upfront interest....

Someone please enlighten me...

The rate is low compared with what is obtainable on I-invest and Piggyvest.

Why is it saying offer opens December 16, 2024 and closes December 19, 2024?. We are in February 2025.

Please note: That the banks allow 100k doesn't mean that it's the minimum amount. Different financial institutions have their different minimum required deposit to participate in the primary auction. The Minimum amount to participate in the primary acuction as stipulated by the federal government through the DMO is actually 50m, this will enable you bid at your own rate. Anything less than that, you have to go with the rate of the bank otherwise you will not be able to participate in the primary auction.

This is also one of the reasons the monthly federal government savings bond is issued to take care of the lower sprecrum of investors, in that case the maximum for savings bond is 50m while 5,000 is the minimum.

Hello good morning investors.
For treasury bill investors with GT, I observed I no longer get the summary of by investments in my monthly statement, and it is also no longer appearing on my internet platform. I have written letters to CC, spoke with my account officer all with a promise it will be worked on, all to no avail. I don't know what's going on.

Please other GT users are you having the same issue?

OK.. Well said. But individuals should not be told to pay 50m to subscribe for Tbills

Same here o
Since they upgraded their system, it has been a mess.

The TB investment is no longer showing
However, I believe it's nothing to worry about.

I'm just waiting for the maturity date.

Check your statement for Feb and March last year to be sure the time it was debited. You can also check your certificate of investment if you have it. If its 364day Tenure just be rest assured you wil get your funds Feb and March 2025, the exact date I don't know since I dont know the effective date

Well we in the same boat, but like others have noted, there shouldn't be any problem with your investment. Just understand the money was not loaned to GTB but to FG, and it's the latter that will repay. I just hope GT gets thier acts together.

Activate e-mail alert, that way you can always check the date you made your investment from your email. Also, you can download your account statement from the past one year from your internet banking. After downloading the statement, search for treasury bills (TBills) or your investment amount in the pdf.

I am experiencing the same thing with GTB o. What kind of update makes the experience less favorable to the customer. Since my last investment in January last month no message to my email as usual. As it stands I don't even know when it's maturing nor do I even know the tenor since it took over two weeks before my request was granted and it's secondary market. I have tried downloading the statement from the bank app no way o. This new behavior is unsettling and discouraging. And I have four different secondary market tbills with them of which three if not all four are maturing this year. I'm afraid of dealing further with them on this.
