Jeez its only in Nigeria people will blame their enemies or people witchhunting FFS Plagiarism is a serious offence in civilized nations, you can't just copy someone elses intellectual property without giving credit, its been emphasised by so many sensible posters on NL but some folks are still screaming blue murder.

In a country where people just copy and paste their assignments from the internet even their final year projects it shouldn't come as a suprise.

There could be so many reasons google may decide in taking down linda ikeji's website and this could be:

Plagiarism: copying other peoples content, pics etc
Bad Linkages: this is very important in the area of seo. Be mindful of people you share your links with as a result of trying to improve your search engine ranking. As the ones you shared your link with might be doing some black hat method to improve the ranking on his or her sites in search engines, and if found cheating by google, such persons would go down and there after the ones you linked with is capable of going down . This maybe the case of linda ikeji's blogsites.

Other methods of going down google page rankings, I do not see it happening that way to lindas blog that is why I concentrated on the two.

My opinion.

You obviously don't know the implications of plagiarism. I repeat, she can be sued for millions of dollars. Stealing is a BIG crime. Plagiarism is a BIG crime. The fact that Nigerians Plagiarize their school project, homework and every single thing in the University does not make it ok or a small crime as you seem to think it is.

I think I know how serious the issue of being caught for plagiarism is. Not mentioning the fact you could get fined, but just the sheer embarrassment of being called out is one. But when you consider the content that has been 'copied', and what damage it may have caused in terms of loss of earnings or some such to the original owner, well in this case it's not going to run into millions. Unless they want to use her as a scape goat. Let's just see how it goes. I only wish for her to not be a victim, as this might discourage the 'industry'. But this would be a red light signal to future copycats.

Besides, like I said she's lost a lot in terms of integrity and standing already as a blogger. What more do you people want sef grin

Eeh, Google we have heard you.... i also know that you are responding to the several complaints you have recieved especially from bad-belle Nigerian bloggers like one PearlOsibu who is filled with envy and hatred for anything that has to do with linda Ikeji.

It is well Linda, you inspired many to get into this blogging thing. Its great too that many can learn from your mistakes. Pele, you will come out stronger.

just to add, from what I know Cybersquatting is defined as a criminal act
that entails the illegal and unlawful holding
of a domain name in an unethical fashion.
Typically, Cyber-squatters, those who
engage in the act of Cybersquatting, do so
with the intent of bullying prospective
purchasers who require a domain name
into meeting the financial demands
expressed by the cyber-squatter. This is
done in lieu of a productive and ethical
commercial endeavor in which the domain
name owned is used for commercial value. the dude Mr aydee has been sued by Volkswagen for cybersquatting, he is also cybersquatting the domain name "lindaikeji.net". which is an offense tho..not saying that I'm in support of Linda's plagiarism but his hands ain't clean too.. #justsaying

how many nigerian bloggers can boldly say they ai'nt copycats? copying from other blogs is not bad but copying from other blogs without accrediting them is the huge crime. but it pains me that most nigerian youths just dnt examine things well b4 they just start posting "unreasonable comments"

Sad indeed.

I remember Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg loosing his post after it was discovered that he plagiarized his college papers. That's how serious plagiarism is. you cant just steal people work, make money out of it,and shout "haters" when u are caught. Nigerian blogs only copy and paste and there is always little creativity or good content. Thats why i hardly visit any.

To hell with Linda Ikeji and her minions

Is that enough to shut down a blog?? Come on! African crab-in-a-barrel mentality. That's why it's not good for women especially to showcase their wealth/success. The moment you do, others will try to bring you down (and usually it's the male category, not even female rivals). I hope she gets back bigger and stronger!! (and I'm not even her fan nor do I even visit her blog but I respect her hustle).

If she plagiarized, she should pay a fine or something. Not shutting down her bread and butter!

You've said my mind. The haters here are mostly males and I tell you, even their choice of words on this thread has betrayed them.If all the males on nairaland are honest, law abiding citizens then who are those sending or posting scam messages?

Some Nigerians have no SHAME, defending an intellectual thief.

I'm not surprised seeing how some even defended a certain pastor when his building collapsed and killed hundreds due to negligence.

A Paid Hosting Provider would have Contacted Linda to Remove all the Offending Articles, but Google's free Blogger would delete your account because you are paying them Nada and they cannot dedicated much staff to administer a platform that is not generating much for the Company.

Google has done the right thing!

Copyright, is Copyright!!!

Piracy, is Piracy!!

No way to bend it!

If she likes, let her buy her own domain, buy her own Machine or Data Center... she can always be taken down!

No one is above the Law! Many bloggers u may not even know have gone down! Yet they had their own hosting and others...

So Let her repent and move on.

Thanks to this drama, people who never knew this guy Dee or Yeye know him now.
This is my first time of knowing about him and his website.
Even bad publicity makes headlines. And both LIB and the man are enjoying all the attention.

When people copy and paste my work, I simply report to the website owners and copycats and not going all the way to report to the webhost and company Ltd.
The man wants the publicity and drama king jams drama queen, Naija style.
But for the most popular blogger in Nigeria on the most popular website in Africa, the views are poor, because the total views should be divided by the numbers of times each viewer has viewed the topic.
With over 67 million Nigerians on the internet and only less than 100, 000 views on this drama, then LIB and Naraland are not as popular as hyped.
Even my blog post on rape has more views than every topic on Linda Ikeji on Nairaland.
When I see 1, 000, 000 views and 100, 000 comments, then I can nod.
Where are the over 1 million members of Nairaland? grin
