I just realized most people commenting on this forum are either secondary school children or refused to grow pass that stage despite they have come of age, that is why they always resolved to abusing instead of present their points maturely and objectively.
I mean! He made a point that could actually mark the end of insurgency if refined and used. If only the 'general' would engage those generals now to help combat the menace the better for us all. Those people getting killed in the north are humans too who have plans for a better life and go out everyday in an effort to achieve this. They have done no wrong! The easiest thing to do here is lambast and lampoon the incumbent as we wish but where will that get anyone?! If the 'general' has anything to be done about the insurgency in 2015, better for him, and us all, to sincerely start getting it done now!...

Too many LAZY folks on parade today who are simply regurgitating LIES they have been fed by the Association of Pretending Crooks, APC over the years about this insurgency.
Below from the same news on Boko Haram wanting "trusted" General Muhammadu Buhari (who was governor of North East state, with Maiduguri home base of BH as capital) as mediator is the following response from the Presidency =>

That was way back in November 2012 i.e. more than two years ago.
How many lives have been lost due to General Muhammadu Buhari preferring to play politics rather than be a patriotic elder statesman
How many shocked
refusing that offer was the best move ever taken by gmb. Pdp wanted to rope him with that pseudo-negotiation just to make Nigerians believe he(GMB) has a link to them, they're his boys and listen to him, hence boko haram decision to have him talk to them on behalf of FG. But buhari show he's smarter. The FG that fell for one faceless Danladi(representative which boko haram denied) by announcing a ceasefire that never existed, You expect buhari to trust FG when they said boko haram wants buhari to speak for them. Who has minister of special duties been talking to on behalf of FG in boko haram camp that a peace deal is yet to be reached? They ended up announcing a phantom ceasefire. Buhari has said it; he's not talking to terrorists. That's plain simple!

As Buhari joins Boko Haram amnesty advocacy

In the continuing debate on amnesty to Boko Haram, the Islamic fundamentalist sect that is unleashing terror on Nigerians in the north on daily basis, Buhari has lent his voice in support of clemency for the group. It would be recalled that Sultan of Sokoto, Abubakar Sa’ad had called on the Federal Government to grant amnesty to members of the sect for peace to reign in the region. Prominent Nigerians from the north have also supported the call including former Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar.

Speaking at Ikenne, Ogun State after paying a condolence visit to the matriarch of the Awolowo family, HID Awolowo, over the recent death of her son, Oluwole, the former Head of State maintained that it was a good thing that the Federal Government had set up a committee on the issue.

His words: “It is good that they have set up a committee, although I have not seen the terms of reference. This is not the first time that amnesty is given to violent group.” While recalling what happened during the Yar’Adua and the militants, he stressed, “Whatever will bring us peace as a society, we should do it.”

And this is from Tinubu's mouthpiece, The Nation some 20 months ago =>

Buhari backs amnesty for Boko Haram
April 11, 2013

NATIONAL leader of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) Maj-Gen Mohammadu Buhari has backed the planned amnesty for Boko Haram, the fundamentalist sect whose insurgency has claimed more than 1000 lives.

He urged Nigerians to embrace whatever solution that would bring peace to the country.

Gen. Buhari, who was his party’s candidate in the 2011 presidential election, described as a good thing the committee raised by the Federal Government to examine all requests for amnesty for members of the sect, which is against western education.

Speaking with reporters at the Presidential Lodge, Abeokuta, Gen. Buhari said the terms of reference given to the amnesty committee remained unknown to him,

He said if amnesty was granted to the group, it would not be the first of such a thing, citing the clemency extended to Niger Delta militants by the administration of the late Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’ Ardua.

Maybe you or the clueless old soldier pensioner know how he will achieve amnesty without discussing with BH shocked

Did anyone notice that the man enjoys the luxury of presidential lodges anywhere he visits in the country but FAILS to show up for National Council of State meetings to discuss security among other issues angry

sathel:
The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Wednesday said that though Nigeria is a rich nation, its people are extremely poor due to bad governance.
He also promised to involve serving and retired military generals to devise an effective strategy to crush insurgency in the country, if elected as President in 2015.

Buhari, in his Christmas goodwill message signed by the Director of Communications, Buhari Campaign Organisation, Mr. Dele Alake, expressed displeasure at the security challenges in the country and the poor state of Nigerian roads.

He said his administration would focus on how best to “make the condition of living of the common man the index for the assessment of our policies and not the amount of billionaires our administration would have made.”
Buhari felicitated with Christians in the country as they celebrated Christmas, assuring Nigerians that they would have better reasons to celebrate the festival if he is elected in 2015.

He said, “On my part, I intend to initiate consultations with serving generals and those who have served our country and distinguished themselves on the battlefield across the world to work out an alternative and effective strategy to crush this insurgency within the shortest possible time if elected president on February 14, 2015.

“I have said that I live the life of a pensioner. I share the burden and anxiety of majority of our poor, powerless people. I have offered myself on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, the party of change, because I desire to give back to a country that clothed, fed and trained me to be what I am today. Our people are poor. But our country is rich.”

The former Head of State, who berated the President Goodluck Jonathan administration over rising poverty in the country, said, “In a nation where a few individuals could raise N21bn because they wanted to make their friend President, millions of citizens, who truly own the resources being accumulated by a few, are left to suffer in sorrow, tears and blood.

Buhari said while many Nigerians travelling towards the eastern part of the country would encounter “the failed promises of the Second Niger Bridge;” those travelling through the South-West would “have to bear the gridlock on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.”

He noted that millions of Nigerians would celebrate the Christmas season in poverty and misery because “the system of production and distribution of national resources has been rigged against the vast majority of our people.”
He said, “We promise that, by Christmas 2015, our administration would have brought out efficiency in management and allocation of public resources to make the inter-state roads smoother and easier to ride.

“Christmas is a season when we all embark on journeys to join our brothers and sisters in our native towns to hold town hall meetings, inaugurate community projects and exercise our cultural rights.

“This year’s celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ symbolises peace, love and togetherness to mankind. It reminds us, once again, of the exemplary life of Jesus Christ and the ordinary yet spectacular circumstances of His birth. His life enjoins all of us to follow his path by offering to sacrifice our selfish desires for the good of our country and mankind in general. This event, however, is taking place at a period of serious security challenges across the length and breadth of our dear country.

“The right to life, guaranteed by our constitution, is under savage assault. The stories of murder in the print and electronic media make you shiver to the bones. The daredevilry of the Godless Boko Haram, which penetrated battle lines in the North-East to commit suicidal blasts in the north central capital cities of Bauchi and Gombe, demonstrates the crucial need to review the military strategy of our defence forces.”

Buhari also promised to initiate policies that would ensure the empowerment of the masses, adding that his presidential ambition was borne out of the need to alleviate poverty and establish a system where the rule of law prevails.
He added, “Certainly, there will be changes in policies. We cannot continue to enslave our country to those who tell us that we are in economic crises because of loans.”

Very rich in thoughts and deep in analysis. God bless you the People's General.

I have always said it that it is lack of sincerity of purpose and corruption that has made success against Boko Haram to be elusive.

If GEJ was a smart and sincere president he would have even approached GMB and other selfless retired Generals long time ago to strategize on how to flush out the Boko Boys. However, the looting he and his cabinet members enjoy from the security budget will not let him do the right thing.

We know that GEJ is a clueless man but that is not even enough to make a president fail woefully as he has done. It is his failure to surround himself with people of high moral standing, credibility and integrity; and instead choosing to align with political jobbers who only think of their pockets and don't give a damn to what happens to this nation that has made him become the "Worst President Nigeria Has Ever Known".

Please explain to me how Gen Buhari will provide us with a solution to Nigeria's challenges. The man is 72 yrs old and I truly do not see what he has to offer this country. Science also tells us that we do not change as we get older, we just become more entrenched in our beliefs and behaviors. If Buhari was a religious bigot 20yrs ago, as evidenced by that newspaper post above, then he will only have become worse with age.

The difference is violence! GMB never supported the use of violence to implement the sharia. There is nothing evil about Sharia.Sharia is a constitution for the muslims ,just like the Nigerian constuitution. It has nothing to do with Christians, because it can only be applied to any muslim that embraces it.Please google is your friend.find what sharia law is all about(not about those using violence to enforce it,please)

The constitution of Nigeria is also very clear about sharia:

260. (1) There shall be a Sharia Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

262. (1) The Sharia Court of Appeal shall, in addition to such other jurisdiction as may be conferred upon it by an Act of the National Assembly, exercise such appellate and supervisory jurisdiction in civil proceedings involving questions of Islamic personal law.
(2) For the purpose of subsection (1) of this section, the Sharia Court of Appeal shall be competent to decide -
(a) any question of Islamic personal law regarding a marriage concluded in accordance with that law, including a question relating to the validity or dissolution of such a marriage or a question that depends on such a marriage and relating to family relationship or the guardianship of an infant;
(b) where all the parties to the proceeding are Muslims, any question of Islamic personal law regarding a marriage, including the validity or dissolution of that marriage, or regarding family relationship, a foundling or the guardianship of an infant;
(c) any question of Islamic personal law regarding a wakf, gift, will or succession where the endower, donor, testator or deceased person is a Muslim;
(d) any question of Islamic personal law regarding an infant, prodigal or person of unsound mind who is a Muslim or the maintenance or the guardianship of a Muslim who is physically or mentally infirm; or
(e) where all the parties to the proceedings, being Muslims, have requested the court that hears the case in the first instance to determine that case in accordance with Islamic personal law, any other question.

Enough of all this religious blackmail against GMB. The spread of sharia across Nigeria is for only Muslims that would want it to apply to them only.

GMB has never pretended not to be a muslim. However ,that someone is a devout Christian or Muslim should not be a subject of blackmail.Religious intolerance is the bane of the Nigerian society.

Please can you explain the following excerpts from the image attached:

1. Sharia should be introduced in FULL across Nigeria

2. God willing, WE WILL NOT STOP the agitation for the TOTAL IMPLEMENTATION OF SHARIA in the country.

If you are that naive then you should know not everyone share same characteristic with you.

I have nothing against sharia and the other stone-age laws of muslims but you are so hell-bent on whitewashing buhari's extremism that you have even forgotten that Nigeria:

1. is a SECULAR country
2. has a 50/50 population for muslims/christians

There's nothing wrong if muslim-majority countries like Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Iran decide to implement sharia. But when u call for the total implementation of sharia in a country where muslim-christian population is 50/50 that is downright extremist.

So you saying the remote town of aboh-mbaise in south-eastern Nigeria should be subject to this "total implementation"of sharia because how else can u explain the implementing sharia across Nigeria in places where u cant even find muslims.

How would u feel if Nigerian christians, traditionalists, jews, krishnas called for the TOTAL implementation of their various religious laws and doctrines across Nigeria?? What would Nigeria's laws and the constitution look like??

As for the difference been violence, i dont think someone like Buhari who wants to be president by all means will openly admit to sponsoring boko haram. But he and Shekau's motive has always been aligned...Islamization of Nigeria by all means possible.

For me, there is noting wrong if you muslims decide to chop of each others limbs and heads, hang yourselfs for crimes committed or stone your women to death. Honestly, I wont lose sleep over it but for an enlightened person like me to be connected in any way to sharia law directly or indirectly (because of buhari's desire to ensure that sharia reaches the nook and cranny of Nigeria) is disgusting.

Where are Buhari's 2011, 2012 and 2013 Christmas messages?

What message does Buhari have for the families that lost their children serving in the North in 2011?

What Christmas message does Buhari have for all those who lost their livelihoods in Kano, Kaduna, Bau.chi as a result of Sharia which he supported?

Please, these and many others who are victims of your religious bigotry do not need your message now! We know better. Do not hoodwink us with your supposed sympathy.

Merry Christmas Nigeria
.GOD BLESS UR NDERSTANDIN gej till buhari tels us his chrismas mesage f 2011-2013.GREEDY POWER LOOT.

bros I have always been saying this ,many of those foools shouting sai baba were not born during the time of buhari. I asked someone who was kneeling and praying to buhari to tell me just 2 things buhari did right when he was the president and that I will tell him 5 things buhari did wrong, the guy doesn't even know anything. Those who were alive then will testify that the fear of idiagbon was the beginning of discipline. I remember an interview idiagbon gave after his govt was toppled when he said that for nigeria to move forward all political leaders then should be executes including himself to give way for fresh blood. idiagbon was the unsung hero and the powerful man then not the sissy ass buhari who only appears on tv to welcome foreign dignitaries. Idiagbon would not have associated with the criminal likes of amaechi and tinubu because he idiagbon was a principled man. Show me ur friend and I will tell u the kind of person u are , buhari isn't a principled man at all and he is corrupt. Only a corrupt politician will feel at ease been in the midst of crooks like tinubu and co. There is no difference between them. I know if buhari had joined pdp ,tinubu and his apc machine would have labelled him a corrupt man but now that he is in their midst, they call him a progressive. I know gej isn't the best man but until all oppositions parties are able to get their acts together and bring out a credible and acceptable candidate, gej remains our best shot.
WELL SAID. will always say Nigerians are d problem of diz country dey don't think atall. GEJ don try buh diz insurgency overshadowed every tin he has done.

yes ,I agree with u he has tried and he is still trying his best. And to some extent I agree with the critics of gej, nigeria and the nigerian situation deserves more than gej is doing. But buhari is just not the type of person that nigeria needs now, that buhari will take nigeria back 50years . I don't know why apc have found it difficult to get a credible and intelligent candidate for 4years. I am a yoruba man and I can say that a person like pat utomi would have been ideal for nigeria ,people with ideas and vision. People with integrity and purposefullness. But utomi will never be a ball boy to tinubu as buhari will be. Tinubu and co will never support a candidate who is independent minded and who knows what he or she wants. Secondly ,nigerians are easily fooled by politicians who knows how to play the ethnic and religion cards.instead of nigerians to ask questions about the candidates plans ,policies, programmes and how he intends to carry out his programmes. I have said this so many times until nigerians begin to ask the right questions from her politicians ,they will never get the right answers from them.it is time for the electorate to ask the candidates to outline their programmes for 4 years ,we can't afford to have someone in government who will spend the first 12 months thinking about what to do . We have to hit the ground running and it is based on this that gej has an edge ,no matter how slow he is he has started some programmes and it is best we just allow him to complete it .

So, just as predicted his plan is to simply fall back on his military past.

Does he think that Nigeria/Nigerians and BH are the same as before?

Does he think this is Biafra number 2?

He is not just fighting BH, he is fighting al-queda, Isis etc.

Just wait until the rest of the fantatics worldwide come to the rescue of BH.

He has no different ideas of resolving conflict. He will see pretty soon that BH are a different kettle of fish. He will soon see how many sympathisers are part of his group of military generals.

Is he trying to suggest that the militery already have not been fighting BH? His option is to plunge Nigeria into an even deeper and widespread war, all because he is out of ideas.
