Cote D'Ivoire are wannabe sellouts (like many Nigerians who want to feel more American or British).
I was very disappointed when they invited Chris Brown to host the Kora awards as if they could not pick an African artist. They did the same by picking that student, North African as a coach. Dude failed them twice, both in the African cup of nations and World Cup.

How did it get derailed?

You tried saying somalis are slaves, we argued about it, us somalis were clearly winning, and you ran away from your own trouble-maker thread like a coward.

Not all of them are, Mali, Guinea, Niger, Senegal, Cameroon (which is both English and French), and some other Francophone countries are still very traditional (a lot more traditional than Nigeria). Read up on Senegal's "Wolofinization"
Truth is, I find ethnicity in that region to be complicated. Probabbly because of its history of monarchs that ruled over unrelated ethnicities while maintaining systems that preserved ethnic identity at the same time.

But I think Wolofization is great as the social system has changed to accomodate modernity. It is better than being overun by a culture from without the continent.

@Omarbah
I was disapointed when I first heard of how these African countries are bank rolling the French economy.

Have also you noted that some of the economically worst performing African countries are francophone? Like Niger..

Those EPAs are tricky Omarbah. They are being imposed on African and Carribean countries, with the East African Community being the latest to surrender. Kenya had already been locked out of the EU markets by imposition of an 8% tax after passing the set deadline. With millions of direct and indirect jobs and loss of revenue on the line, she conceded.

That is sellout to the Western world mentality. Many Nigerians have this mentality (I do not). Our biggest culprit is our useless president GEJ. It's really disgraceful and you are right. Cote D'Ivoire had a Tunisien as a coach, and then they get the American guy Chris Brown to host Kora awards.....What kind of nonsense is that?
