Initially BH was local. Their ideology & modus operandi was no different frm d perennial fundamentalist problems we hav always had in d north like Maitatsine etc. & dat was why it was easy to round up its founder Mohammed Yussuf & his members. Unfortunately, d nation took its eye off d ball & they got affiliated to Alqeada & dat was when it became a whole new ball game. If we had nipped it in d bud we would not be having dis discussion now. Unfortunately our suspicions of each other did not allow us to do d right thing & tribal & religious bigots were having a field day each coming out wit a narrative dat fits its own narrow view. It is an insurgency QED. When we see each other as one. As dis recent victories show, when d giant of Africa comes together we can overcome anything. But will we or will we give in to our suspicions?.

Not just tribal and religious u forgot to add political bigots too,as for your last line on when we come together and see each other as one, this is why i get so angry at this two so called political parties in the land they tend to politicize what they shouldn't and they are both guilty of this in Unity lies our strength why i feel they have some kind of back up which isn't ISIS or alqaeda is this, the kind of weapon used and the way they were replaced as soon as any went missing points to that fact of course this was prior to the bombardment by the military

have you forgotten it is really lai Mohammed that is their spokeman, only a thief allow thieves to act as ex parte. so lie an equivalent of lai need not be untold. perhaps it is for the easily gullible Nigerians who are highly fooled by there own obstinate desire to make Nigeria a London in no time as described by the word "change" define in thuggery as change the present Government but not the system. (this husks Nigeria need remain in it state so I could also benefit of it.) easy going makes the foundation stronger. GEJ is transforming Nigeria and he is doing it slowly and carefully and credibly.

iwaeda:
The All Progressives Congress has said President Goodluck Jonathan “bears a huge moral responsibility that will hunt him for a long time to come” for allowing the Boko Haram menace to fester, leading to the deaths of over 15,000 Nigerians and the displacement of over 3 million others in the past six years.

In a statement issued in London on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party also hailed the military for the successes it has recorded in the battle against Boko Haram in recent times, saying the string of victories confirms the party’s stand that the Nigerian military can hold its own anywhere and anytime, if provided with the necessary equipment and if the morale of the troops is not undermined.

President Goodluck Jonathan has finally owned up to his globally-acknowledged incompetence, a development which, in truly democratic societies, should be part of a statement of resignation by a leader whose terrible error of judgement has caused so many deaths and inflicted so much pain and sorrow on his compatriots.

APC said the truth is that President Jonathan deliberately allowed the Boko Haram crisis to fester because he and his team saw it as their trump card for winning re-election in 2015 by currying local and global sectarian sympathy with a Muslim-group-killing-Christians narrative that totally distorts the fact that Boko Haram is a band of marauders who have no consideration for ethnicity, regionalism, religion or any other thing beyond their mad disposition to terror.

The party said the marauders are equal-opportunity killers who went after Christians, Muslims, northerners, southerners, men, women, the old, the young, the rich and the poor.

Quoting Jimi Agbaje himself.....

"I've always maintained that knocking Governor B.R. Fashola (SAN) for his achievements all because I'm running for Governor on a different platform will just be playing mere politics - and that's not what I've set out to do in this campaign. However, I like to think that Governor B.R. Fashola (SAN) and I have very different positions and ideologies when it comes to leadership and what we both think is critical to developing Lagos into a world class mega-city.

This leads me to an issue that needs to be addressed. An issue that has to do with our doctors and healthcare workers

First and foremost, I find it heart wrenching that at our level of development in Lagos, we still have to grapple with the decision of paying the salaries of our doctors. You see, quite simply, we cannot expect to have grown our economy by almost a hundred fold in the last 16 years without improving the lives and working conditions of our healthcare workers. It's not just logical. What's the purpose of building schools, if our children cannot afford it? What's the purpose of building bridges, if it doesn't connect people to commercial activity? What's the purpose of leadership, if there are no followers? What's the purpose of such great prosperity, if it doesn't trickle down to the least of us? This is where I think we fundamentally differ. There's a semblance of being progressive on the surface but the position and decisions that the honorable Governor has made over his tenure leaves us to wonder if truly he and the leaders in the Lagos' ruling party, the APC, are true Progressives - in the footsteps of great Yoruba leaders like Awolowo and LK Jakande.

You see being progressive has nothing to do with your party. It's in your lifestyle, in your instinct, it's subconscious. I learnt this from my great mentor Pa Abraham Adesanya - A man that took me under his wings as a young politician and taught me all that I know about politics. He would say, "It's about the people, Jimi. At the end of the day, no other metric counts, no validation is greater than the one you see on the faces and in the lives of our people. If they are hungry and without jobs; if they're without a roof over their heads; if they're uneducated and lack the basic life skills to compete; then we've all failed even if we build the tallest of skyscrapers or the longest of bridges."
That's what I call being Progressive.
So don't lecture me on experience. If your so called experience doesn't have a human face to it, it's all for nothing.

Let me assure Lagosians that hope is on the way. And being a Pharmacist myself and understanding the importance of a healthy people to national development, I intend to do more in this area. I have said under my watch, we shall introduce a free-health insurance scheme that would be beneficial to Lagosians and service providers, amongst other things. It's bold - no doubt - but it's possible. As long as we have the the political will to see it through, it will happen.
Government must begin to work not for a few elites that gather on the main streets of Bourdillon but for ALL people. Whether you're a banker or a blacksmith, an electrician or an exporter, teachers, Okada riders, students and lecturers. We are all one people in pursuit of the basic needs in life: opportunity, liberty, dignity of work and the pursuit of happiness.
So in this election, let us make it clear to the opposition that when it comes to being Progressive:
It is not in the size of the cap, it's in the THOUGHTS.
It's not by the shape of the glasses, it's in the VISION.

And it's definitely not for them to decide whose feet the shoes fit. Our progressivenessis about the PATH that Lagosians themselves choose to travel and our ability as leaders to harness that.
God bless."

Because the army hadn't the neccesary equipment and arms. GEJ inherited a poorly equipped army due to the neglect of previous leaders (especially our dear OBJ who did nothing at all for the army even though he is an old soldier). Now GEJ has bought arms and the army is better shaped for the fight.

APC should be objective in their politics. Let us not 4get that Nigeria will be here long after we are all gone.

You mean as acting president he did not have statutory powers to equip the Nigerian military? Even as the substantive president, how come it took him 4 years to do his job.

See how silly and redundant you sound because 6 or 4 years, you still sound absurd, clueless and mentally incompetent...

Buhari bought more weapons in 2 years so what;'s this dullard's excuse with even more money at his disposal...

Lai Mohammed is talking facts here. I am very sure if an independent panel of enquiry is asked to look into this Boko Haram issue, they will definitely indict President Jonathan. How come the military could not curtail Boko Haram until elections are here before they suddenly woke up?

I must commend the military anyways for their recent victories, because they are the ones doing the dying and fighting but I still maintain as I have been saying that it seems the military was purposely on a systematic stand down until now.

They have always maintaned a defensive fighting strategy which even people without a military background saw was a mistake. They usually wait for BH to attack before fighting back. They usually wait for Boko Haram to take towns before going back to attempt to retake them. They refused to go on the offensive for the past 4 years.

It is now that elections are around the corner that they saw the need to go offensive in the BH war. This seems fishy, but anyways, I am happy they are giving the Boko Haram the death and misery they deserve.

It seems you have not been following the events as it unfolds, first you cannot defeat boko haram with cutlass that was why GEJ bought arms and second no individual government can defeat Islamic terrorist alone without the help of her neibouring countries. I remember how GEJ was castigated on his frequent visits to chad and Niger to solicits for support but we didn't know all what he was doing was to solicits for joint effort to end the northern madness. Pls also remember how some western countries also refused to sell us arms because of our poor human rights records inherited from obasajo era and all these add up to the poor defeats of boko haram, I am APC member like you but I seriously think mr president has tried and he earned my respect for that.

Yeah i could remember when we were still in Kano during the gulf war between Iraq and kuwait some Hausas then were being recruited and trained by these countries in the name of muslim brothers yet it wasn't this serious that was what aided the riots in kano in the year 1990 , the earlier we begin to drop unnecessary politics by our greedy and selfish politicians the better, irrespective of their party and affiliation, they have killed this country today our youths and masses are divided in support of some dumb politicians after their own gain...

It's called voluntary selective amnesia.
Nigerians have a very terrible habit of deliberately forgetting/ignoring the facts just b because it doesn't currently favor their affiliations.
That plus their mental laziness and herd mentality.

it's just terrible.

APC, the party of. 'change' should continue with their rundown the gov't policies.
why won't the foreign media(for the first time) have the audacity to call our presidency names when they c us doing it on the daily.

The military is decimating Boko Haram and that is the bottom line.
after the war ,we can hem and haw to our heart's content but for now, the F.g and military h need all the support and not unnecessary distractions.

These APC folks seem to reason from their bum sometimes .

Castigating Jonathan and praising the military only shows their desperation even to the blind as it is obvious that they want Aso Rock at all cost and this questions the very agenda of the cult-like party because even their agenda is only known to them.
Nigerians should not make the mistake of their lives by voting this party into power as it is obvious that APC is an anti people's party as they do not have Nigerians in their heart by their actions and inactions.
Are you surprise? Didn't you see when they praised Agricultural Minister and refuse to accord same praise to GEJ. A party built on lies. A party desperate to grab power at all cost. A tribalistic party.

Who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces ? Seems the entire APC Board members do not have WAEC certificate.

Who approves strategies and deployment of the troups ? GEJ must be commended for these winnings.

We all witness how 'ready' INEC was on February 14th. The Voting materials were still found at London on February 14th. Now, the military hardwares have been secured and we are winning war against terror in a very pragmatic way. True patriots will celebrate the success recorded and not rush to condemn the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. Will any sane people praise the kids for a job well done and insult their parents that coordinated the jobs ?

I think the entire APC nematodes need Structural Mental Adjustment. Anyway, what do we expect from a lying party that fields WAEC-less Ancestor.
