BULL in the stock exchange, mean a person who buys share hoping to sell them at a higher price later, often contrasted with bear. BEAR in the stock exchange, mean a person who sell shares hoping to buy them back later at a lower price. In other way round, when stock is gaining heavily we refers to it as bull present and when the stock is losing heavily we refers to it as bear present. Bull simple mean stock gaining, which is often represent by green colour as its sign, while bear simple mean stock losing, which is often represent by red colour as its sign, both are helping us to make money in the stock exchange market.
and how about the pigs that get slaughtered?

I know many will still shout kill him, kill him, but the more you shout the more he live on. The fact still remain that we are entering the week of bear no two words about it majority of the stock will go down. I know some people will comment negatively on this my post, but what will be will be.

as for me any thing next week is ruled out. Rather after election, I have never see pre-election tension like this, any thing is possible, it is better I buy stock that sales #2.50 at rate of #2.80 after election, because possibility of moving to #4 is there, than to buy #2.50 and the price drop further to #1.50 after election. Which possibility is higher than that of #2.8
ok. Thoughtful. But sometimes you got to take some risk and do the opposite of what the crowd will do. The election will definately be violence free.

you are right, I pray for violence free election. Market is all about individual decision, risk is all about trying luck. For one to wait and buy after election is also trying luck, he may buy lower or a little bit higher. All our aim is to buy lower and sell higher.

Hmmn..., my brother, formally my thought too. But I'm becoming uneasy. With this morning's headlines, quoting the Inspector Gen of Police, that some politicians are planning a parallel announcement of election result. . This is the ultimate recipe for post election crisis, God forbid. The situation is fluid and dicey.

Sir, the pigs get slaughtered when they misinformed or misquote your opinion. That is why reading people's opinion about any particular stock is good but the final decision rest on the prospective investors or traders. Every opinion needs to be digest with caution and common sense grin

Very soon all the national newspaper will carry this CHIBUKING in their headline. Politics and stock market are inseparable, because country condition determine the movement of the stock. Violent is inevitable as far as recent Nigeria general elections are concern, but we pray for God to take control. Am still surprise about those that want to make money by deceiving friends. They will bring all types of news to show that all is well where all is not well, they pump the price with aim of dumping it on people. Friends please free away from such people. Election crises always affect the stock market, for those who care, trade with caution.

Value investors in the house :

What's a simple and FAST way or website to calculate a stock intrinsic value ??

My friend uses a paid site @ www.drstock.org Although its fast (don't know about the accuracy) but its kinda expensive.

Any ideas ??

So, a farmer should never talk about the weather, but just "crops, crops", isn't it Soki? Just keep tilling and planting, not caring if the crops will be watered or withered. So even the word "election" should not be uttered here anymore this week. Election is not stocks, and will take place on a saturday, a non trading day, therefore absolutely no effect on stocks, not so? Anyway, comrade, let me help. It might be the concern that we should not spread scares around here and i agree. Nevertheless my post was based on the cover story of most major nig newspapers that day, and topical events effect investment decisions that cause the daily gyrations we see in stocks.

@jaunty, we have discussed how to calc book vqlue on this thread previously. just do some pages research on it. grin .

However, some stocks are always priced above their book value . A stock like gtb and mansard falls into this group. Some blue chip coys also fall here. This os because they have won investors confidence over d years by their performance.

Some stocks are always priced below its book value. Sentiments, outstanding shares, members of board and mgt etc are some of the factors dt determine this. unity bank falls into this group. No matter how they perform, their weight(o/s) dont allow them move . Also, they are yet to win investor confidence.

I know bloomberg displays bv and pe of stocks. Plz confirm this as am not so sure again.

Yes, buying now or after election is indv choice. Like you said I picked up some skye and fidelity units last wk. Nobody knows when some of these historic prices we are seeing now might slip away. Going forward i'm eyeing aiico, uba and ubn. Don't know about ubn fundamentals, but i've observed that it makes v sharp price movements when a bull hots up.
