gasgenius: Oh not at the scripture but at the bibical misinterpretation and historical rubbish statements of a crank who clearly lacks even basic education and has not addressed even one of the points raised. As for the pidgin - europeans dont often understand all that rubbish. Now were you going to reveal the extent of your education? We have certainly seen evidence of the lack of it! :-) Oh sorry! Lol. I thought you were the original nutcase! Nope he just has zero idea of history and/ or the Bible. 1 Like |

sukkot: I certainly dont interpret the Bible literally and study it both formally and informally. But we must recognise where metaphor is and is not used. Jesus is clearly one person through every mention. Again you ignore the historical evidence of the existence of the actual individual! Do you even know what it is? :-) Did your village even have a school? |

soderican: Must obviously they are counting the day crucified and day risen and the Saturday in between. So unless we wish to be stupidly pedantic thats three. But the other points from other posts are also valid. I also think it says somewhere 'on the third day'. |

Technically, Easter falls on the first Sunday after the
full Moon after the Vernal Equinox. The worship of
Attis and Cybele was very popular in Rome as late
as the 3rd century. Attis was a soter, or savior, god
who was reborn each year. This resurrection was
celebrated beginning on the Friday after the full
moon after the Vernal equinox (now Good Friday).
It culminated on the following Sunday three days
later. Since they were rivals, Christianity adopted
the date for their soter and, once the Cybele cult
faded, Christians had to keep the date since that
was when everybody was used to celebrating the
holiday. |

gasgenius: Pidgin is a local lingua franca and varies from state to state in Naija. The 'How far' greeting widely used is often substituted by ' which levels' in warri. Now as it changes you have to ensure that who you are communicating with can understand you. Thats why I dont use Irish slang here, you would not understand it. It is foolish to use it to oyinbos no matter how strong their connection with Naija is or how long they have been coming. Oh and Nairaland is for everybody I thought. When not actually in Naija I use it to keep close to the land I love and follow what the local trends are at the moment. |

sukkot: Lol. Ramblings of a mental defective. I saw your threads on aliens on earth etc. Seminary school is for clerics. My education was scientific in University and eventually business school. I again ask for evidence of even the most basic education you may have been briefly exposed to? Your posts have not yet addressed the historic proof of a man called Jesus. Guess you are unaware of them. Your only edifying point is to illustrate what happens when people are uneducated. |

KoloOyinbo:Oh you gone get an education today from me mr whiteman ok first off the name Jesus means ' he saves '. when you go precept for precept you can get that info from matthew 1 vs 21. so the word JESUS means HE SAVES. now when we go to the book of revelation 19 vs 13 the bible tells us JESUS is THE WORD OF GOD. and it is this WORD OF GOD that SAVES you. so JESUS is aan allegorical way of saying THE WORD OF GOD. now this word of God can become flesh as descibed in the book of john if the word is sealed in certain people. then the word becomes flesh. are you starting to see how i slowly unravel the allegories and symbolism ? POINT BEING THERE WAS NO MAN NAMED JESUS. yeah there were several christs ( which christ is a word meaning to be anointed ) but there was no guy named JESUS walking around getting literally killed on a cross. historical evidence backs that up. the works of josephus have all been found to be phoney. there is absolutely no historical evidence of a man named JESUS and we have world history that goes all the way back to egypt which is 4000 years before christ. we have all documented history but none of a fellow named JESUS walking around and getting killed on a literal cross and waking up 3 days after. these stories are all allegories and symbolism |

gurunlocker: Different dates, the op wasnt asking about different days. For example, he or she is wondering why Easter is in March this year and not April. Hope folks havent spent their money on wild goose chases, that's a loss. If some of you have collected payment based on the premise of Easter April, too bad sha, hope your bosses or clients pay up . |

gasgenius: Merely pointing out that when you were clearly talking to an oyinbo you used language that would not be understood. In the classes and training I deliver in Naija we are always careful to ensure clear communication not just in English or a little pidgin but in any technical language that is required to be used. What fake pictures? Or did you make a mistake? |

Easter dates are calculated eight days from the the dates the (equinox) ie .the day when the lengths of periods in day and nights are equal n this is determine by the metrologist in ancient times in Greece a goddess named easterious was believed to be responsible for the equinox and was thus worshipped eight days after the first equinox of the year is experienced. 1 Like |

soderican:The Bible does not explicitly state on which day of the week Jesus was crucified. The two most widely held views are Friday and Wednesday. Some, however, using a synthesis of both the Friday and Wednesday arguments, argue for Thursday as the day. Jesus said in Matthew 12:40 , “For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” Those who argue for a Friday crucifixion say that there is still a valid way in which He could have been considered in the grave for three days. In the Jewish mind of the first century, a part of day was considered as a full day. Since Jesus was in the grave for part of Friday, all of Saturday, and part of Sunday—He could be considered to have been in the grave for three days. One of the principal arguments for Friday is found in Mark 15:42 , which notes that Jesus was crucified “the day before the Sabbath.” If that was the weekly Sabbath, i.e. Saturday, then that fact leads to a Friday crucifixion. Another argument for Friday says that verses such as Matthew 16:21 and Luke 9:22 teach that Jesus would rise on the third day; therefore, He would not need to be in the grave a full three days and nights. But while some translations use “on the third day” for these verses, not all do, and not everyone agrees that “on the third day” is the best way to translate these verses. Furthermore, Mark 8:31 says that Jesus will be raised “after” three days Take your time to read this and come back. The world as we know it, before now, did not operate the 24hour setting the and did not operate our kind of calendar. You, my friend, need to be enlightened. |

sukkot: So the world is wrong and some fool who lacks any education is right! Lol! We know you have just restated your little fantasy over and over without evidence or indeed without convincing anyone. What of the clear Roman records etc etc. Do you seriously think any educated person will give you any credence whatsoever? Find a school in you village! |

Re: Why Is Easter Always Falling On Different Dates? (picture) by Nobody: 4:23pm On Mar 27, 2016 |
KoloOyinbo: Thanks. Just to add to that: The Vernal Equinox is also known as the March Equinox. Equi - equal and Nox - nocturnal or night. This is the day of the year (along with the September Equinox) when the duration of day and night are about equal, which always falls in March and signifies the onset of Spring. So basically Easter always falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the March Equinox. This date is always between March 22nd and April 25th. |

DanNafada: Thanks. I was an astronomer for 21 years so always used the formal term Vernal equinox. Forgot that might not be clear to many. So yes, March Equinox is preferable. |
