Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosu yesterday lashed out at aggrieved workers of the state civil service who have threatened to go on strike over unpaid allowances and wages.

At a town hall meeting organised by the Ministry of Budget and Planning at June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, insisted he would not succumb to the demands of the workers.

According to him, it is insensitive of the workers to be threatening to go on strike even when the economic recession is biting hard on all states.

"We all know this, yet some are not using their brains. They don’t have brains and they don’t know what they are doing. They don’t have sense. I cannot give what I don’t have. Teachers alone collect N2 billion monthly. If you want to join politics go and resign, you can then become card carrying member of political parties, you can start printing posters if you want to contest” He said.

The Governor is obviously frustrated but he should understand that the civil servants are more frustrated.

Salaries are no longer regular and even when they come, they are not complete yet prices of goods and services have increased.

Amosun has shown great contempt for the state civil servants with this vituperative attack on them. When did it become a crime to ask for what is due to one?

Amosun and his party will pay dearly for his condescending attitude towards the state civil servants. The workers are not asking for much; all they want is their deductions which the governor has been feeding fat on.

The reason the teachers are going on strike is illogical...

He promised to pay their deduction and after he inaugurated his LDCA chairmen, they claimed they are too much and he went be able to pay their deduction.

Does that even make sense?

They said he must pay the deductions because they feared he might not be able to pay the deductions he promised next month...
