Hi, dat associate is 10 points and not good at all. Kindly contact EA and tell them u will present a new set of career episodes, so u can get engineer status. In addition, use d guidelines for professional engineer and write ur episodes and summary .
zanyzara:
Engineers in the house,

I am a Mechanical engineer with 5+ Years of experience as sr. project support engineer, I have recently submitted my Application to EA, I chose professional engineer, I received comments in statement summary feedback as follow :

Based on your career episode, it became evident that you are normally operating within a relatively well-defined technical part of mechanical engineering environment, and undertake a wide range of functions and responsibilities.
However, you are lacking to carry the professional engineering wide-ranging responsibilities taken on behalf of stakeholder and professional involvement into system integration; for synthesising overall approaches to complex situations and complex engineering problems. At the same time, being developed as an engineering associate, you have a great exposure to technical coordination as well as grounding in the area of mechanical technology and technical support. Based on this career episodes’ summary the best qualification outcome is the mechanical engineering associate “

Before I reply to this , I’m not really sure what he meant ! , my concerns are:

1- Does he mean that my assessment outcome will be engineer associate instead of professional engineer ?

2-Does he want me to reply on this ? what would be my best comments to the assessor on this ?! Does he want me to rewrite the CDR and summary statement?

Best to rewrite your CDR aiming for professional engineer. Use the anzsco job descriptions for mechanical engineer to synchronise what you've done in your experience to the listed tasks.

@40manlappy, I wouldn't recommend you go with VETASSESS. However, if you want to do it, It takes a minimum of 8 weeks .

My personal conclusion after getting a negative assessment (Internal Auditor)with VETASSESS is that the body lacks understanding about some professions. With same documents, I obtained a positive qualification assessment with an accounting body.

Their understanding of financial institution branch manager may be different from what obtains in a typical naija branch.

65 points is good and with a little patience you will cross the line.

Thanks for your advise and also for sharing your thoughts.

@all
My next question may seem a bit premature but I would like to know nonetheless. smiley

-If my spouse is eventually granted Australian PR, would I as a partner need to do a skill assessment before I can secure a job in Australia?

-When you get the PR, how much time do you have to relocate to Oz?
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by sammywemmy: 6:57am On Nov 04, 2016
U don't need skills assessment to secure a job. Just find out the requirements for the body that regulates ur field.

Time depends on your initial entry date, and is usually a year from when u submitted ur medical or pcc, whichever is earlier

@40manlappy.
As at when I got my PR, you have a year to come to oz if you applied outside the country.
If you have a partner that applied onshore while you are overseas, you have 3months to join your partner after the grant

@40manlappy,
I would expect your partner to include you in the application while applying. She would be the primary applicant and you won't need a skill assessment.

Hi all, i am glad to finally make this post. The migration journey for me just ended. God has been EXTREMELY gracious to me. landing in this country with a little less than 1000 dollars in February last year, i have successfully graduated in my masters program, obtained a professional job as an environmental consultant while still on bridging visa, and achieved what i couldn't achieve in Nigeria in 5 years all within a stretch of 20 months. i am grateful to the guidance of so many people on this thread. ie Zenkel who showed me how to arrive australia through malaysia on a shoe string budget of 150k, Boss jennakry who enlightened me on opportunities i never knew existed and others who helped and encouraged me on the journey. i will settle down and summarize some important key information yet to be shared on this forum that will help enable new arrivals find a professional job, and also 476 visa holders looking for extra 5 points on what to do to dodge the english bedrock while drilling through to permanent residence. i will also like to encourage others going through a lot of pain and doubting their decisions especially those who came via school route with their partners, it can only get better, don't loose hope. stay focused, the light awaits you at the end of the tunnel.

grant: 24.10.16

THIS makes your journey very easy.. Submit for Assessment with EA under WASHINGTON ACCORD pathway.. No need to write CDR or all that crap... Positive assessment as Professional Engineer sure die... Then do your English, get 20 points and submit EOI as a mechanical engineer or Production Engineer whatever EA gives you

Don't bother with the work experience. Na unnecessary stress

Just do the above and wait for invitation... Thats all.. Very straightforward something

@ Oga Bellong,
Nice thread. So much to learn here.
Thanks for taking your time to ensure others are well informed.
I'm a medical doctor struggling with AMC for a while.
I'm interested in the 'possible pathway for medical practitioners'.
Is it ok if I pm you regarding this?
thank you

Hello House,
Please I need an urgent help from people who are already in Australia. I am currently processing my 189 visa to Australia and I have been having hard time paying for my skill assessment with EA. I have all the money in Naira. Please if you know anyone wanting to send money to Nigeria, I can help them transfer the amount into their preferred Nigerian bank account while they help me transfer the equivalent to my friend’s Australian AUD account. Please this is urgent!
No amount is too small to start with. Please reach me on opeinmedia@gmail.com if interested

cc @bellong, humanshado, jetspeed, jukeblam, catchdwind4rmkd, scrollmeout and everyone who has been a great help on this thread. God bless and reward you greatly.

I have read this thread from the beginning and I need help.

I do have a Nursing offer with UQ, graduate entry. I was given due date of Oct 30 to pay, but cos of the obvious issues with paying from here, I called the school and was given an extension till Nov 12, which doesnt make a difference. I am married with a son. With the obvious cost implications, we decided to go the PR route. I have BSc Physics so my course is not doable.

My husband has HND Electrical engineering, Masters in IT from Europe. Since he came back, he's been in Facility Management and that's where his interest lies now. We need help deciding the best option to go for. Electrical engineering is on SOL (even though from what I've read here, HND engineers are assessed as engineering technologists, I hope I'm right, and from anzsco, occupation ceiling now is around 628 out of 1000, which is competitive). He has no work experience asides IT and school project in engineering. We are considering this cos it's on SOL, even though he doesn't want to work in this occupation. Will he be able to write his 3 CDR episodes without work experience?

For facility management, he has 4 years experience in it. It's being nominated by SA and NT. For SA, only proof of funds is required but evidence of funds is required for NT, which is very high, $60000 and being offered 489 instead of 190. Another reservation about SA is lack of jobs from what I've read.

Which do you advise we go for please? Sorry for the long post.
Thank you all so much in advance.

Yes. His I.T and project should be good enough

Engineering Technologist is the best option if he can make 65 points

I forgot to ask, as stated in the MSA booklet, were the engineers that got positive assessment registered with COREN?

Thank you

Tito19,

He can nominate Electrical engineering draftsperson, it is both on the SOL and CSOL lists.

EA is the authority assessing it. Like previously said, he can write his CDR based on IT and school project while you balance the points from other areas.

No, you don't have to be COREN or other professional body registered before getting positive assessment as a professional engineer. You only need a bachelor degree and a good CDR.
