Rohr Baba angryRohr Baba

Hmmm Shehu up against Keagan Dolly, interesting. Shehu is pacy and skillful, he can cross the ball better than Musa and he's got guiles. From what I saw in Brazil, he also knows how to play the ball from defense. He ain't that awesome while defending but I think he can contain Dolly. Nice pick

Onazi should be told to mind his defensive works while Ndidi who shoots better with more precision pushes forward(though only when need be). He should curb the rate at which he plays into our opponents' hand by easily getting drawn outta position. Well we've got a good cover in Agu.

Omeruo hmmm I must say l'm scared with this guy starting. He can make mistakes to put us in danger anytime. I pray he disappoints us his doubters. I wish Balogun was around.

Akpeyi seems the best choice at this stage though experience wise not merely because of his qualities. He is always jumpy, flaps at crosses and dives horribly like aiyenugba. He can make point black saves when least expected, at the same time, he can let in cheap goals, hence I call him a rope of sand. I'm not comfortable with him between the pipes but we ain't got better options. If Francis Ezoho manages to win a starting shirt next season at modest derpotivo lacoruna, I would be the first to clamor for his invite

The front three plus etebo should scare the opponents and I pray they(iwobi, Acho, Musa and Etebo) all come to the party. Hopefully we have the Musa we saw against the Argies at the world cup, up against the Bananas.

If we leading let say by 2 goals and above until the 70th minute, I would want the substitution to be ;Agu/Ogu for Iwobi, onyekuru for Musa to keep them on their toes and finally kayode for Acho, also to keep them on their toes. At this period, they would become vulnerable as they push for a goal hence leaving spaces behind. Our pacy dou of kayode and onyekuru can pounce by attacking those spaces with their pace.

TheGoodJoe, I know you like promoting youth a lot but you must also understand that the transition of a team should always be gradual especially when the team is already achieving results.

The new/ younger players would be introduced into the team but it would be a gradual process. The team is already a young one with Echiejile being the oldest among the likely to start 10 outfield players. Just check this out: Echiejile (29), Ekong (23), Omeruo (23), Shehu (24), Ndidi (20), Onazi (24), Musa (24), Etebo(21), Iwobi(21), Iheanacho (20). This puts the average at about 21-22. Which is pretty very young by any standards.

You can even talk of younger subs like: Awaziem (20), Onyekuru(20), Osimhen (18), Ebuehi(21), Alhassan Ibrahim (20), Dele Alampasu (20).
Kayode and Agu are still less than 24. John Ogu like Echiejile is 29.
The coach is clearing grooming these younger ones to compete with and possibly take over from the older 'young' ones. There time will come

As for the goalkeeping position, I am disappointed that we have not gotten the chance to test the keepers. Akpeyi seems shielded to me from his weakness becoming exposed in camp. From the test, Alampasu still came out top. That is why he gets my nod.

Lol..

Sir I am not undermining the achievements of our goal keeper trainers.

What beats my imaginations is that ,they keep inviting and playing goal keepers who are below average or at best average.

Are there not better hands for them to invite to the national team?.

I think Enyeama made his break through with Shorunmu as the keeper trainer. Ejide was also in fine form under Shorunmu. Agbim had the reflexes but his positioning was awful.

I know you don't want them to win so that the Nigerians amongst them do not get fortified in their ambition to play for England. But omo look naaa. Save for some one or two positions we are bursting at the seams already. Anyone we lay hands on, fine. I don't think we'd do badly if we continue discovering and building our team without recourse to the British born guys.

Very deadly set-up, especially with the attack. However, no pace on the flanks. Although I am not a fan of the three at the back set-up.

Very interesting but I do not see Rohr gambling with shielding the defence with Onazi. It is just too risky although Onazi's positioning improved under Rohr, Ndidi seems a more calm and trusted option. We will miss his lethal long range strike but we have enough firepower upfront to supplement the loss.

Yea, win some lose some.. player like Solanke have been lost long time ago.. some of dem oyinbo pass oyinbo.. that one na waste of effort.. Make we see their Nigerian doings for instagram/twitter first. But anyways i'm for Venezuela for same reasons. Both teams need the win badly because they have been absent over the years as regards titles internationally.

A good line up.

But as a coach you base your substitutions on the way the game is going and also how you want to finish the game . For eg we cannot be looking for a goal and you remove Iheanacho for Kayode. And we may be leading and need to see off the game and you remove Onazi and bring in Musa?

Plus also, any player may lose steam or get injured and that will also necessitate a substitution.

BTW how come no one has mentioned Tyrone Ebuehi on his starting line up?

The way that boy was hyped here it was as though they were already reserving that RB position for him.

Rohr will not start any new player in a match like this except he is Messi. . Ebuehi, Onyekuru and Co will come in the second half if needed. He love to ease his players in.

rather the obsessed ex was visited.
Enyeama loves Nigeria. And dont have a problem returning. He has issues with some in the NFF.
so your point is faulty.

Enyeama is true gentleman and a man of integrity he has no issues with the NFF. Rather the powers that be in the NFF have issues with him and his uncompromising integrity.

He should be given an unreserved apology for the way he was treated.

Agbim. is he still playing? I don't think finding great goalkeepers is hard. If anyone want to argue about favoritism lets focus on the goalkeeping department in order to end the bad trend especially with these home/afro based keeprs.. Let's not distract ourselves with outfield players. Our goalkeeper coaches are very lazy. Why are they not scouting the NPFL and NNL?

Remember I said pushing forward when needed? But Sir, if Onazi can't shield, then he should give way for better shields(Agu my pick) because we can't afford to miss those attempts from Ndidi just because we wanna accommodate a certain Onazi. I read Agu doesn't join attacks more often unlike Onazi and he never jokes with his defensive responsibilities too. I had to check on his clips and I saw exactly what I earlier read. He displayed it against Corsica and Togo, he passes better and he's tidy with his tackles, hence, doesn't accumulate cards. He doesn't take no prisoners, same with Onazi though. He even had a better stat than Onazi this past season. He was second to no other Nigerian DMF than Ndidi, in Europe this past season.

TheSuperNerd:
Rohr – Alhassan Ibrahim “Mu’azam ” Has Quality That’s Why He’s In The Team

Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has praised the quality of Akwa United forward Alhassan Ibrahim, insisting that he merit been in the team based on his talent.

Mu’azam like the lanky forward is popularly called is the only outfiled player who is a home based player in the team after the coach dropped the MFM duo of Sikiru Olatubosun and Stephen Odey when the squad was pruned down.

According to Rohr, Mu’azam who has nine goals for Akwa United this season in the Nigeria senior national team did enough in training to make the squad for the game against South Africa this Saturday.

Despite claims by some people that the forward was kept in the team due to the fact that he plays for Akwa United of Uyo where the game will be played, Rohr insist he is in the team based on merit.

” He did well in training. He’s here because he has the quality not because he plays for Akwa United. He has a bright future”, Rohr said at the pre match conference.
