I really expected more depth from you.

You really believe that a sell on clause is what is causing all the delay.

Wow really? My comment had nothing to do with a delay boss.

Egbuchulam targets 10 goals in Swedish League second stanza

BK Haecken forward Chisom Egbuchulam has set his sights on scoring at least 10 goals in the second stanza of the ongoing Swedish Allsvenskan league AOIFootball.com reports.

The former Most Valuable Player in the Nigeria Professional Football League who has only made three appearances in the league this season has impressed during the mid-season friendly games scoring five goals in five warm games the team has played so far.

According to the former Enugu Rangers attacker, he expects to open his goals account when the league resumes and he targets 10 goals before the end of the season.

” I can’t wait to start scoring goals for my team in the league. I have scored 5 goals so far in the mid-season friendlies we have played so I hope to take my current scoring form into the league proper. i want to score at least 10 goals before the end of the season. The process of understanding their game here has been gradual for me and I’m coping too,” said Egbuchulam.

Iheanacho In Man City Tour Squad As Guardiola Drops Nasri, Hart, Bony & Mangala

Coach of Manchester City Pep Guardiola has dropped talent worth over £120m from his pre season squad for their tour of the United State Of America later this month.

Although the squad will be told who will miss out when they report back for training this week, reports has it that Joe Hart, Wilfred Bony, Eliaquim Mangala, Samir Nasri and Jason Denayer will not be on the party to the US.

Instead, they will be put through their paces at the club’s training ground in England, while the rest of their team-mates take on the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur in pre season games.

The players are among the group of players who have been told to look elsewhere by the club as they are not in the plans of manager Pep Guardiola, but Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho who has been linked with a move away from the team has survived the chop.

Iheanacho has been heavily linked with a move to West Ham with Leicester City also in the race to sign him, but Guardiola as exclusively reported by this portal has told the player he will only be sold if a replacement is found for him.

Also City have told interested clubs that the forward will only be sold with Man City have the option to buy him back in the future, a sign of how high the manager rates the Nigerian.

Returning Eagles Midfielder Mikel Sparkles In First Training Session With Porto

Newly capped Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Agu had his first training session with Portuguese giants FC Porto after missing their first session on Monday, when he had his medicals.

Agu is back at the team after a successful loan spell with Vitoria Setubal last season where he made over 30 appearances, and the 23 year old was rewarded for his performances with a new deal at Porto plus a chance to push for a spot in the first team.

Already the departure of Rueben Neves has opened the door for him to stake a claim in the midfield of the team as the club will not be signing a replacement for Neves who is set to complete a club record move to English Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderes.

New coach of Porto Sergio Conceiao has already made it clear that all players are entitled to equal opportunities in the battle for shirts in his team, including those who are returning back to the team on loan.

Injuries and fitness issues have hampered the progress of the Nigerian at Porto since joining the team as an 18 year old in 2013, with the injury he sustained two seasons ago during pre season with the first team the biggest disappointment of all, because it came at a time when he was on the cusp of a breakthrough to the first team.

Golden Ball Winner Of Nigerian Descent Arrives Melwood To Finalize Move To Liverpool

Liverpool are set to reconfirm the signing of England U20 sensation of Nigerian descent Dominic Solanke in the coming days.

The former Chelsea wonderkid was pictured at Liverpool's training ground on Tuesday, and it is thought the striker was at Melwood to finalize his switch to the Reds.

Liverpool had offered three million pounds for Solanke but his stock has risen after helping the Young Lions clinch the Fifa U20 World Cup, and winning the Golden Ball, awarded to the best player at the tournament.

The Professional Football Compensation Committee will meet this month to decide the true valuation of the player.

Everton, Sunderland, Arsenal, West Ham, Rangers and Celtic were strongly interested in Solanke before Liverpool won the race for his signature.

Yak scored 21 out of 58 matches which goal ratio is 0.36 while Aghahowa scored 14 goals in 31 matches, a goal ratio of 0.45.

As you can see, Aghahowa's goal ratio is better than Yakubu and Aghahowa goals were crucial.

Ikpeba played from 1994 till 2002. Therefore, he is very much qualified to be included in 2000 - 2009 because he was effective in 2000 AFCON.

Wetin Kanu do for National team? Nada.

Martins played in the 2010 AFCON and 2010 FIFA world cup.

Danny Shittu had 32 caps.

Ow! goals ratio? It is now goals ratio.

Well based on goals ratio Iheanacho is the greatest striker in the EPL history and greatest Nigerian striker of all time. Haha haha.

Can you compare Ikpeba's contribution for that short period to the Yak's contributions from 2001 to 2010? third highest scorer for Nigeria within that time frame?

Wetin Kanu do? You know those days we used to have so many anti-Kanu fans. I just spotted one. Haha haha. The history of Nigerian football will not be complete without the mention of the name "Nwankwo Kanu".

For that 2010 AFCON Ike uche missed out due to injury. He was our hottest striker leading to that AFCON. Yakubu and Osaze had a better tournament than Martins. Osaze scored twice while Yakubu and Martins only scored once.

At the 2010 WC Martins was a shadow of himself. Our goals were scored by Kalu Uche(2 goals) and Yakubu (1 goal). Nothing from Martins.

If you have even fronted Osaze I will still agree more because Osaze even featured at the 2014 WC and scored our first goal(against Bosnia)

Martins had his better days in the 2000s but then there was Yakubu.

My three top 3 strikers for this decade thus far are Uche, Emenike and Osaze.

Dani Shitu: You include him in the 2010 to present first 11? A player that the only tournament he featured for Nigeria this decade (2010 WC) he was a disaster.

Nigerian Defender, Tipped To Be The Next Dani Alves, Rated Among Man Utd's Modern Full-Backs

American youth international of Nigerian descent Matthew Olosunde has been picked among the best modern day full-backs at Manchester United.

Ahead of the opening weekend of the 2017-2018 season, The Red Devils have beamed their searchlight on the most promising wing-backs on the youth teams, with Matthew Olosunde, Joe Riley, Demi Mitchell, Jake Kenyon and George Tanner selected.

Olosunde offers versatility as he is equally comfortable playing as a central defender and defensive midfielder, but he recently admitted that his favorite position is right wing-back.

''Matthew Olosunde began to nail down the position on the other side of the defence under interim coach Nicky Butt and finished the campaign strongly, with his surging runs down the flank a key feature of the side's attacking play,'' wrote Manchester United on their official website.

Joe Riley added : ''I’m happy for him (Demi) and Matthew Olosunde at right-back as well. ''

''Both full-backs are playing really well. I saw Matthew’s goal at the Dallas Cup on social media and it was a great goal!''

Matthew Olosunde jetted to the United Kingdom last Friday ahead of the start of pre-season training at Manchester United.

I see your reasons for picking Yak, but we are talking National team achievement so his epl records won't be considered, Aghawonder was very decisive for us in two tournaments I think he was even the top scorer at 2002 afcon. Yak scored goals alright but I can't even remember him scoring important and decisive goals for us.

yak is 3rd highest goals scorer of all time for Nigeria

In the 2010 to date list I would have had Osaze (although not present continous) add to that list I would have Obagoal.

In the 2000-2009 I would have the very dependable Danny Shittu in that list.

Meaning instead of Ike Uche and Emenike you"ll have Martins and Osaze?

Top Prospect Kelechi Nwakali Misses Training With Arsenal First Team, Akpom Involved

Flying Eagles skipper Kelechi Nwakali missed an opportunity to train with the Arsenal first team on Tuesday morning.
Several Arsenal stars have not reported for pre-season training due to their involvement with their national teams this summer, and manager Arsene Wenger drafted in some promising Academy players to train with the first team.

Talented Nigerian quartet Tolaji Bola, Joseph Olowu, Tobi Omole and Aaron Eyoma were not considered by the French coach.

It is envisaged that Nwakali will join the Gunners first team set up when he returns to London later this week .

If that is the case, then it won't be the first time he'll train with the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott as he was called up to train with the squad just before he completed his loan move to MVV Maastricht (picture).

England U21 international Chuba Akpom was pictured training with the first team at London Colney on Tuesday.

Nice Favourite To Sign Enyeama Following His Banishment To Lille Reserves

French Ligue 1 side Nice are reportedly in the driving seat to sign out of favour former Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama who has been banished to the reserve team of fellow Ligue 1 side Lille.

Nice are in the market for an experienced shot shot stopper following their qualification for the UEFA Champions League, and the 33 year old Nigerian is one of their prime target especially as they could get him for free.

Enyeama has two more years to run on his contract with Lille, but new coach Marcelo Bielsa has axed the goalkeeper alongside ten others from his first team squad who are preparing for the start of the French Ligue 1 season.

His experience of playing in the Champions League and Europa League makes him a sure option for the team that took French football by storm last season, although Nantes are also in the race for his signing.

Newly appointed coach of Nantes Claudio Ranieri has reportedly sounded out Enyeama after his failed bid to land former PSG goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu who opt to join Serie A sid Torino after spending time on loan away from Monaco last season.

Turkish Side Osmanlispor Reject Ezekiel Bassey Following Release By Barcelona

The General Manager (GM) of Turkish Super Lig side Osmanlispor says the club are not in talks with Nigerian forward Ezekiel Bassey who is reportedly close to completing a move to the club after failing to make his mark at Barcelona.

Bassey joined Barcelona on a six months loan deal from Nigerian side Enyimba, but he didn’t make any appearance for the B team for the period of time his loan lasted, which made the Catalan club to opt against making his deal permanent.

Osmanlispor were linked with a move for the forward but according to Ender Yurtguven the stories linking them with the 22 year old lack substance, as they are not in the hunt for the CHAN 2016 Nigerian ace.

”Ezekiel Bassey and Arouna Kone have been mentioned in the media, but this kind of news is being made during the transfer period, Our coach has written a lot of names and he is not among the players we are interested in. I think this kind of news is done by the player’s manager”, he said.

Since you focused on only goal as your sole parameter, I pointed out that Aghahowa national team goal ratio is far better than Yakubu and Aghahowa goals were crucial at some points.

When he played he contributed immensely to all our games. He will always be remembered ahead of Yakubu.

There is more confidence in Aghahowa to deliver than Yakubu.

21 goals out of 58 games is very poor compared to Yekini's 37 goals out of the same 58 games and Aghahowa's 14 goals out of 31 goals.

Remember, Aghahowa goals propelled us to the 2000 AFCON final. What can be said of Yakubu?

Wetin Iheanacho don do for National team? Nothing. grin

Oga, stop shifting goal post. You said from 2000, haba!

Ikpeba contributed to the 2000 AFCON hence my submission that he should replace Tijani Babanjida.

I didn't remove Yak for Ikpeba. I removed Tijani Babanjida for Ikpeba and Yakubu for Aghahowa.

I love Kanu but truth must be told, he did nothing at National team level. If otherwise, kindly highlight any.

In 2010, during the AFCON qualifier, Obinna was the reigning kid in the block thought Ike Uche also did well, and both ended up scoring 4 goals each but Martins heroic 2 goals against Kenya that gifted us the world cup slot was highlight of his contribution which overshadowed every other events.

Remember, Martins did it from 2006 to 2010 Afcon qualifiers though ignored for larger part of the qualifiers.

Without Martins no World cup and had it been Martins was invited concurrently and consistently during the 2006 FIFA world cup, we for no miss am.

However, our best players were not utilized during the 2010 World Cup. Remember, Osaze yabed the coach for keeping the best on the bench including his humble self.

Martins was only used in the last March against South Korea, you saw what happened. We suppose win.

Martins setup Yakubu but he missed severally and eventually killed his career with the national team with the miss of the century.

Did I here say, Yakubu had good tournament!? shocked grin

I already sited Odenwinge on your list and I suppose you added him as a winger hence the need to put Martins.

My three best strikers of the decade are Aghahowa, Emenike and Martins.

Yup.... we have A Nigerian Footballer in that Finest XI based on some major Stats for each role.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Surprised? 'Greatest' Premier League XI according to statistics: Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal stars included
By TalkSPORT UK

We take a look at who boast the most impressive statistics in their position, looking at players with a minimum of 30 Premier League appearances.

As we know... Stats don't tell the full story but these are impressive nonetheless. The formation used is 4-4-2.

Goalkeeper: Petr Cech (Chelsea and Arsenal)

According to statistics, the brilliant Czech goalkeeper has conceded a goal every 116.1 minutes in the Premier League during his career. That is the best record in the Premier League era.

Centre-back: Tony Adams (Arsenal)

A legendary defender, the Englishman helped keep a clean sheet in 45.1% of his Premier League appearances.

Centre-back: Ricardo Carvalho (Chelsea)

The Portuguese defender helped keep a clean sheet in 46.7% of his Premier League appearances for the Blues.

Right-back: Alvaro Arbeloa (Liverpool and West Ham)

In our list of defenders with the best clean sheet record, in 43.5% of the games Arbeloa played, his team didn't concede a goal – the joint-best record of any full-back who's played more than 30 games in the Premier League.

Left-back: Emiliano Insua (Liverpool)

Meanwhile, the best left-sided defender based on clean sheet statistics is Arbeloa's old club-mate Insua, who also boasts of walking off the field having helped keep a clean sheet in 43.5% of his Premier League appearances.

Central midfield: Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal, and Chelsea)

One of the Premier League’s most creative midfielders, Fabregas has managed to make an assist every 223.3 minutes.

Central midfield: Mesut Ozil (Arsenal)

Some know Germany star Ozil as the assist king, but he didn’t come top of our list of the Premier League’s greatest creators. He did do enough to make this XI, though, as he made a goal every 235.5 minutes.

Right-wing: Kevin De Bruyne (Chelsea and Manchester City)

Belgian star De Bruyne has managed an assist every 179.2 minutes in the Premier League, which is the best record of any midfielder since the division’s inception.

Left-wing: Nani (Manchester United)

He might not have been a fan favourite for the Red Devils but according to the statistics, he consistently produced, managing an assist every 225.9 minutes in the Premier League.

Striker: Sergio Aguero (Manchester City)

The Argentine star is rated as the second best striker in Premier League history (of those who have made more than 30 appearances), according to minutes per goal statistics. He scores once every 109.8 minutes, which is almost a strike every game.

Striker: Kelechi Iheanacho (Manchester City)

Just sneaking into our list, with 46 appearances in the Premier League, it turns out the Nigerian star is the striker with the best minutes per goal ratio, getting one every 106.5 minutes. Impressive.

My three best strikers of the decade are Aghahowa, Emenike and Martins
for 2010 to date. Na wa.

For Okala those multiple league wins were mostly in the late 70s.

Yakubu was not only a club man. He was the highest goals scorer for Nigeria for his era. Second overall behind Yekini. Yakubu reigned from the 2000 Olympics down to the 2010 WC. Aghahowa was only there as top striker from 2000- 2002 even though he and Yakubu are age mates. If you talk of reliability it was Yakubu. Aghahowa faded too early.

Agreed if I'm right Yakubu may have the highest goal scoring record for an African in the EPL.

I remember Juluis he spent a couple of seasons at Wigan it was terrible. Its a wonderful he didn't have a mental break down. He was never given a chance to be honest and he didn't understand the physicality of the EPL.

Highly-Rated Teens Dele-Bashiru, Jos-Born Kigbu Resume Training At Manchester City

Jos-born England U18 international Ashinme Kigbu and the highly-rated midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru have both reported back for pre-season training at Manchester City.

The first-team are yet to begin their preparations for the new season, but the Academy have already hit the ground running, and Dele-Bashiru has posted on social media a picture of the young stars training.

City manager Pep Guardiola is expected to draft in some of these promising youngsters to the first team squad ahead of the club's tour of the United States and it remains to be seen if the duo will be selected.

Tom Dele-Bashiru whose younger brother Fisayo is also on the books of City, appeared 27 times for the 18s last season, scoring seven goals, including three in his last three games in the U18 Premier League.

Kigbu's appearances were limited last season, with the central defender making only five starts for the U18s in the league.

Who scored more goals for Nigeria between Yakubu and Aghohowa.

Ikpeba belong to the 90s generation. I didn't even include Oliseh who Played in the 2002AFCON to the 2000-2009 list. The Olympics you talk about for Ikpeba was in the 90s na.

How on earth can you replace Nwankwo Kanu with John Utaka?

Martins belongs to the 2000-2009 class.
Which tournaments has he taken part in from 2010 to date?

I still stick to Obaobona ahead of Shitu. How many caps did shitu have for Nigeria and what did he achieve?

Danny Shittu in my opinion outside of Yobo was our best defender of that era. Even Yobo will concede he was his best defensive partner ask him if you like.

He was treated abysmally my the inept clueless Owen Coyle and even the other Bolton manager. I really felt it for him absolutely a top dude, got time for everybody down to earth and hard working focused professional.

He opted out if the national team he simply couldn't afford it. Having all kinds of trouble securing a contract. He went on to win the best Center Half in the championship for Millwall.

Big but almost incomprehensibly fast for such a big guy.

Ow! goals ratio?

You are misusing statistics to misrepresent the players true ability and capability.

KC has played 64 games and scored 21 goals in the EPL. This season 2016/17 he scored 7 goals from 29 games. That is the material statistic not the ratio of minutes played to goals scored.

It is misleading the thread giving an attribute that is far from true. Furthermore, you are using two units of measurement one for KC and another for everyone else based on goals scored.

That is a double standard intended to mislead.

KC is an excellent striker no doubt but he is not the best in the EPL as you put it. He is considerably far from that, this is over hype keep things objective.

Let's inform and not decieve ourselves.

Oga, I was not the one using goals ratio. I understand all those goals per game and goals per mins calculation. I was only criticising forgiveness for bringing in goals ratio into this.

My yardstick remains number of goals scored and not goals per mins or goals per game. My stance is very clear.

Since you focused on only goal as your sole parameter, I pointed out that Aghahowa national team goal ratio is far better than Yakubu and Aghahowa goals were crucial at some points.

When he played he contributed immensely to all our games. He will always be remembered ahead of Yakubu.

Firstly, I hope you know 2010 WC and AFCON qualifiers ended in 2009? So that doesn't count for the next decade.

2. Ikpeba did not feature as a winger for the Super Eagles he was a striker while Tijani was a winger. So this is simple as comparing apple with orange.
