Li Linsheng Is Tianjin Teda New Coach As Captain Mikel Returns To Training
By Johnny Edward

Nigerian pair of John Mikel Obi and Brown Ideye now have a new coach as their Chinese Super League club Tianjin Teda have confirmed the appointment of Li Linsheng as new manager, reports Completesportsnigeria.com .
Former manager, Jamie Pacheo, was given the axe on Friday, after strings of poor results in the first half of the CSL season according to a statement released on the club's official website.

Pacheo signed the Nigerian pair at the start of the season with Mikel joining as a free agent in January from Chelsea, and Ideye arriving for a reported fee of 10m euros from Greek Champions Olympiakos.

The Tianjin Teda's statement reads: "Li Linsheng style is rigorous and he is well disciplined.

"He has a good communication with the team and that cohesiveness builds the team strength. We believe the team under his leadership we be consistent."

The former Shenzhen and Yanbian coach will have the task of returning the club back to winning ways having won just one game in their last nine games.

He is expected to lead his team out in Sunday's home clash against Shandong Luneng.
meanwhile, Tianjin TEDA captain Mikel has returned to training with the team, two months after he sustained an abdominal strain.

Mikel's return to action also hands Nigeria's Super Eagles a massive boost ahead of their crucial double header clash against Cameroon in a 2018 World Cup qualifier in August.

According to Chinese daily Sports Enorth the Tianjin TEDA captain, joined up with the rest of his club teammates Friday evening and trained alone with the club doctors, but will play no part in Sunday's home clash against Shandong Luneng.

But he is expected to play a part in Tianjin TEDA's next game against Jiangsu Suning on the 14th of July, 2017.

Mikel's last appearance for Tianjin Teda was in their 2-0 victory over Chongqing Lifan in April in a Chinese Super League clash.

He has made three appearances since he joined the club as a free agent from Chelsea in January.

Tianjin TEDA are 12th in the 16 team CSL log with 14 points from 15 games.

By Johnny Edward

New Bursaspor of Turkey signing, William Troost-Ekong, has thanked the fans of his former Belgian side KAA Gent for their tremendous support during his stay at the club, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Troost-Ekong on Saturday completed his €2 million move to Bursaspor after successfully passing a medical.

The 23 year old who becomes Paul Le Guen's second signing during the ongoing transfer after Cristian Tarouco, took to his Twitter handle to wish Gent and their fans well ahead of the new campaign.

"I would like to say a big thank you to all the fans of @KAAGent for supporting me in my short time with the club," the Super Eagles of Nigeria defender wrote via his handle, @wtroostekong.

"I wish you all the best in the coming season, in the league and playing in Europe."

"I enjoyed playing in front of you in the Ghelamco Arena. Thank you Buffalos!."

Troost-Ekong made eight appearances in all competition for Gent in six months after returning from a two year loan deal at Norwergian side Haugesund where he was the club's captain.

Wow, wow, wow. Did not know Paul Le Guen is Bursaspor coach. This makes the deal sweeter and confirms Ekong's ball playing talent. He is going to work with a true master of the possession-heavy style of play and I see Ekong growing and fitting in more in Rohr's plans working daily with Paul Le Guen.

Wish Ekong the best. Brilliant move. I also hope Paul Le Guen succeeds with Bursaspor.

Kelechi Iheanacho transfer could be a risk for Pep Guardiola and Man City
By ADNAN RIAZ

The Man City player is thought to be close to making a £25m move to Leicester City.

Kelechi Iheanacho could be a name that comes back to haunt Pep Guardiola one day.

The 20-year-old Nigerian striker is thought to be close to completing a transfer to Leicester City for a fee of around £25m.

The price tag is hardly a dent in today’s market value. But for £25m, a player of Iheanacho’s ability and age could prove to be a steal in this transfer window.

Guardiola wants to create a dynasty at Manchester City. The Blues boss is in the process of rebuilding an ageing squad by bringing exciting young talent to the Etihad. But some City fans will be raising their eyebrows at the thought of Iheanacho leaving this summer.
Guardiola has Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Agüero to lead City’s strike force, as well as the possible addition of Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez to add even more attacking talent to the mix.

The future of Wilfried Bony remains uncertain - and unless a buyer is found he will be expected back for pre-season. His City career has struggled to lift off, falling short of the superb goal-scoring form he once had at Swansea.

Iheanacho offers Guardiola a real alternative - an ambitious and exciting youth academy product ready to rise to the occasion.
It could be the spark that Guardiola is looking for in his team - and he could be part of the future of City’s forwards.
Guardiola only needs to look across the city of Manchester to see how Marcus Rashford has lit up the United squad.
Rashford is the boy wonder for United fans. He’s a living, breathing symbol that the youth academy is a staple of United’s philosophy.
And there’s a more likely chance of Mourinho leaving United before Rashford is allowed to move to another Premier League club.

Guardiola previously expressed his desire to see City’s youth playing a central role at the club. But some would argue it will be a step in the other direction if Iheanacho leaves.

With Iheanacho, perhaps Guardiola’s most feasible solution
would have been a season-long loan - as that would have allowed him to gain valuable first-team experience and minutes on the pitch in the Premier League.

But if City are ready to let a promising player leave, the club needs to fight tooth and nail to include a buy back clause or a sell-on fee in his transfer.

Iheanacho could be the best buy of the transfer window for Leicester City. And Guardiola will have to hope that he doesn't one day come to regret his departure.

Omeruo In Line To Make Chelsea First Team Debut After Five Years Against Red Devils

Nigeria international Kenneth Omeruo is in line to make his debut for the first team of Chelsea after spending more than five years at the London club.

Chelsea will face Crawley Town in a pre-season friendly at the Checkatrade Stadium on Saturday, July 15, and a source close to the Premier League club has hinted that they will most likely field the loan players, who have resumed training.

Chelsea Youth tweeted: '' Chelsea's friendly away to Crawley on July 15th will feature the loan group; how many of them are left at that point is another matter...''

Omeruo has played once before for Chelsea U23 squad, in their 3-3 draw with West Ham in a Premier League 2 fixture in the 2013-2014 season.

The central defender has enjoyed loan spells at ADO Den Haag, Middlesbrough FC, Aytemiz Alanyaspor and Kasimpasa.

ALUKO ON TARGET AS FULHAM SURVIVE ZLIN SCARE
Tolu Olasoji

The 28-year-old’s goal was not enough for the Cottagers to stifle the rampaging Cobblers as they rallied back to level a two-goal deficit

Sone Aluko was on target as Fulham surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Czech outfit, Zlin in a friendly encounter on Saturday’s evening.

The winger who enjoyed an impressive 2016/17 with Slaviša Jokanović's side - but for a failed attempt to gain promotion to the English Premier League - got the curtain raiser on the half-hour mark.

After the restart, USA U20 midfielder, Luca de la Torre doubled the Craven Cottage outfit’s lead in the 73rd minute.
But with nine minutes left of full time, Bohumil Páník’s men returned both goals in quick successions.

Robert Bartolomeu and Dame Diop’s effort in the 81st and 83rd minutes respectively ensured the English Championship side shared the spoils.

Aluko will be looking to improve on last season’s eight-goal return, in 47 second-tier appearances, when the 2017/18 campaign begins.

The 21-year-old put a starring role in his first outing for the Belgian Pro League outfit on Saturday

He found the back of the net in the 11th, 23rd and 51st minutes, while Ivan Saponjic got a brace with Sandy Walsh and Leya Isheka completed the rout.

Claudio Ranieri Excited As Chidozie Awaziem Sparkles In First Game For Nantes

Fans of French Ligue 1 side Nantes got to see a glimpse of the quality of their new signing Chidozie Awaziem in their 2-2 draw against Switzerland side FC Laussane Sport in a pre season friendly ahead the start of the French Ligue 1.
Awaziem completed his loan move from Porto to Nantes two days ago, and the 20 year old who has two senior national team caps for Nigeria was thrown into the deep end by coach Claudio Ranieri after his team let slip a two goal lead.

Nantes were leading 2-0 but FC Laussane Sport drew level in the second half, and with Nantes under severe pressure Ranieri introduced Awaziem who gave a performance that helped his team keep the Swiss side at bay.

Awaziem even came close to scoring from a free kick with a header, and his performances drew him praises from Ranieri who pointed out that his introduction helped his team get a strong hold on proceedings.

The coach dropped a big hint that Awaziem could start their next pre season fixtures as he confirmed some players who were introduced in the second half of the FC Laussane Sport tie will be in the starting line up in their next game.

New Roma Coach Gives Hope To Nigeria Rio 2016 Star Sadiq Umar & Nura Abdullahi

Newly appointed coach of Roma Eusebio Di Francesco could hand Nigerian duo Nura Abdullahi and Sadiq Umar first team opportunities at the club next season.

The duo are presently in the camp of the Rome outfit where they are currently being put through their paces by the coach, with Nura looking sharp despite the numerous injury setback he suffered last season.

Sadiq who spent last season on loan to Bologna has also been very noticeable in Roma pre season training with several pictures of him and the new coach during drills posted on the official website of the club.

The duo have endured mixed fortunes at the club since signing with Roma two summers ago with Sadiq the most fortunate as he made nine first team appearances for the team under then manager Rudi Garcia.

On his part Nura who happens to be a childhood friend to Sadiq have had to contend with a minor heart surgery, a cruciate knee ligament injury and several set backs since the duo moved from Spezia to Roma.

Nwakali Missing, Little Known Nigerian Striker Balogun Scores For Arsenal U23s Against Bournemouth

Arsenal U23 got their pre season games underway with a 1-2 loss at London Colney to their counterparts from fellow English Premier League side Bournemouth.

Reports before the game had it that highly rated Nigerian prospect Kelechi Nwakali might be given a run out by manager Arsene Wenger after his fine showing for his loan side MVV Maastricht last season.

However the 18 year old didn’t get to line up for the Gunners, but another Nigerian made the headline for the right reasons despite Arsenal suffering a 1-2 loss to a strong Bournemouth side.

16 year old Folarin Balogun was one among five players of Nigerian descent who were given a run out by coach Steve Gatting, who fielded two entirely different starting line up for each half.

Folarin scored Arsenal’s only goal of the game when he pressed the Cherries backline and won the ball. He raced through on goal before coolly slotting the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper of Bournemouth.

The other Nigerians who were on show for the gunners were Tobi Omole, Aaron Eyoma, Joseph Olowu and Xavier Amaechi, and they will be hoping for more game time when the U23 play their next pre season game.

Exclusive – Dele Aiyenugba Set For Shock Recall To Super Eagles Unless Enyeama Make …..

Former Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper Dele Aiyenugba could be in line for a shock recall to the senior national team of Nigeria, owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Present first choice of the senior national team of Nigeria Carl Ikeme might be forced into a premature retirement as he has been diagnosed to be having acute Leukaemia, which has further deepens the goalkeeper crisis rocking the national team of Nigeria.

Coach Gernot Rohr used Daniel Akpeyi in the absence of Ikeme, but the Chippa United man failed to impress in the Eagles last game against South Africa which ended 0-2 in favour of Bafana Bafana in Uyo in the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers.

Unsatisfied with Akpeyi’s display in the game, the coach is looking for experienced shot stopper ahead of Nigeria’s World Cup 2018 qualifiers back to back game against Cameroon in August and September, as he believes Dele Alampasu isn’t ready yet for a game of that magnitude.

Although the coach is in regular contact with erstwhile goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, he won’t be pushing him for a return as he has long left the door open for Enyeama to communicate to him when he is ready to return to the team.

If Enyeama fails to contact Rohr, the coach will switch to Aiyenugba who kept 33 games last season for Hapoel Ashkelon in the Israeli top division, following his move from Bnei Yehuda where he has been since 2009.

33 year old Aiyenugba last kept goal for Nigeria in 2011 against Guinea, a game Nigeria drew 2-2 , hence missed out on the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

This Man-city club and Guardiola self,i hate the way they do things and how they reason, they are too greedy and at the same time too selfish.
First they don't want Iheanacho to go to any of the top 4 clubs or their rival,
Second, they don't want any of the mid-tab club that would purchase him to make any profit when they decide to sell him by inserting a nonsense buy back clause,ie like determining a business man who purchased goods from u how much he is going to sell it, it doesn't make sense business wise, but to them it's very wise.

they don't want to sell their players to their rivals, but are so determine to buy the very best from their rival, this is nonsense , ok,why not swap Iheanacho with Sanchess they want to break bank for,and let Iheanacho goes to Arsena, a club that would be ready to improve his career.
It's too frustrating. I wonder if they can try this with an English man.

I wonder if they can try this with an English man.

who is more naught if not the player and his agent..
Africans especially Nigerians in the EPL....tend to always let these clubs and managers mess up their careers...always playing the scared cow...may be because of inferiority complex prevalent in them....
I once told....a friend no European will take the Mikel obi treatment at Chelsea.... none.
but I just don't understand why Africans always see themselves inferior to these guys....
what so special about having a UK citizenship at the expense of yr career.....
these dust would have die down...if the player had been vocal and stand to demand his rights....
he can as well request to leave.....or be loan out..but him keep saying he wanna fight for his place is giving pep and city board the mind to treat him these way....

Imoh Ezekiel adds to Nigerian contingent in Turkey

KweséESPN Reporter

One-cap Nigeria international Imoh Ezekiel has become the latest Super Eagle to move to the Super Lig, with the striker being unveiled by Konyaspor on Friday.

Ezekiel, who was one of Nigeria's standout players at last summer's Rio 2016 Olympics football event, moves from Qatari club Al-Arabi SC, bringing an end to his spell in the Middle East following his big-money transfer from Standard Liege in 2014.

Konyaspor confirmed the deal on their official website and revealed that the striker has put pen to paper on a three-year deal in Turkey.

"I want to prove myself here," he told Konyaspor.org.tr. "I thank [Konyaspor] very much for giving me this chance.

"My goal is to adapt quickly," Ezekiel added. "I saw our fans on the internet. I'm really excited and want them to know that I will do everything I can to satisfy that passion and hunger."

The forward, who will wear the number 39 in Turkey, may hope that a return to Europe will boost his chances of featuring for Nigeria, particularly in a World Cup year.

Ezekiel will join Elderson Echiejile and William Troost-Ekong in the Super Lig next season after both internationals completed moves to Turkey.

Echiejile moved to Sivasspor on a one-year loan deal on Friday, while Troost-Ekong joined Bursaspor from KAA Gent on Saturday.

PETER OLAYINKA NETS HAT-TRICK ON ZULTE-WAREGEM DEBUT
By Shina Oludare

The 21-year-old put a starring role in his first outing for the Belgian Pro League outfit on Saturday

Peter Olayinka showed K.A.A Gent what they are missing by scoring a hat-trick on his debut for Zulte-Waregem in their 7-1 victory over Roeselare.

It was his first game for the Belgian side since his loan move from K.A.A Gent – after completing his spell at Czech Republic’s FK Dukla Prague.

And on his first outing for Essevee, the Nigerian offered a demonstration of his goal-scoring instincts against the Belgian second division side.

He found the back of the net in the 11th, 23rd and 51st minutes, while Ivan Saponjic got a brace with Sandy Walsh and Leya Isheka completed the rout.

I think...playing all season for Chelsea has made him believe he needs little engagement wit the national team to become the player he wanna be..
the desire to stay fit and keep playing for club I think make some of those injuries claim...

I think that is a little inconsiderate. He has done so much at the international level but yet before last season he had never cracked it big time in England. I think we should overlook things like the few matches he missed and focus on the player we will gain when he suit's up for us.
