Yea, it would give them another grace of one extra subject to choose from, but the fact is that they still made French or Arabic as options, would the schools not punish whoever that chooses to ignore both subjects or the available one? Just like in our secondary school days then, we had Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa languages as options but our school didn't have Yoruba and Hausa teachers, so every student had to take Igbo, even the few Hausas that were with us then. Igbo automatically became compulsory in our school and failure to offer the subject would warrant punishment from the teachers or failure in ur exams.
It's the same thing that I believe would happen with French/Arabic. In a situation where there ar no French teachers, automatically u ar compelled to offer Arabic, but if they made both French and Arabic as options just as house of reps have made Civic Education as option now, then somebody cannot be punished for refusing to offer any of them.

Where did you get your information that CRK/CRS was removed from the new curriculum? Nigerian misunderstand the whole concept of the new curriculum. Media is not helping in enlightening the public. They only care about giving a dog a bad name to hang him.

Christian Religious Studies and Islamic Religious Studies are still 2 distinct subjects to be handled by two separate teachers. These 2 courses are merged under Religious and National Values (RNV) which also has Civil Education, Social Studies and Security Education.

CRK and IRS were removed as separate subjects and merged under a different subject called Religious and National Values in the new curriculum, even the link u posted says that.
