Haha. you should have already realized you misunderstood me. Arsenal has youth development in their policy, relative to the others.

Icon4s:

You said Arsenal does not see top 4 as birthday right. Please explain this. That is what I am after.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 7:08pm On Aug 05, 2017
One thing Iheanacho-Success partnership taught me. Back then, Success seemed more lethal sometimes, other times, Iheanacho did more of the scoring. Success was also a better provider at times. Other times Iheanacho did more in assists. Restricting Iheanacho to the CF role won't bring the best out of him and the team. He needs a similar partner in crime.

That's the kind of sentiments many of us have here. Somebody said let's wait for Osimhen. Another person says let's wait for Aaron Samuel. I can interpret that to mean they are both not ready. How about we just say who is best partnering him right now?

The season has just started. How they begin will be a good yardstick.

Icon4s:
Until we find a striker who is more lethal than Iheanacho he remains my top pick for the CF position.

We just need to set up the team to maximize Iheanacho's ability.

Osimhen, and Sadiq are not ready yet. And Kayode is not lethal enough.

For now I don't buy the 4-4-2 formation.

My eye will also be on Aaron Samuel to see if he can find back his 2014 form.

Ok we are saying the same thing then. You have just singled out Chelsea and Man City. At least that means most of the clubs are doing fine. So the EPL is alright then as regards player development.

Humility017:

I mean in reference to your arsenal...debate on iwobi....
reason for the first bolded
iwobi is playing because the club believe in young players...development not necessarily because....arsenal does not aim for top 4 or because the team is not quite competitive....
man United, Liverpool and spurs share same philosophy....

junnyjake:

My going for Dessers was totally based on last season's performance.

Yes, he played in the 2nd tier last term, but the goals he contributed was just enough to see them promoted to the 1st division.

Osimhen had just 45 minutes of action last season, he's not ready.

I'm not a big fan of Sadiq Umar, I watched him during the Olympics and it would take more than a fine performance in preseason to convince me.

Dessers played at a very low level. His scoring goals at that level does not mean much if he can't cut it at a higher level. Put Osimhen or Sadiq in the Dutch division 2 and they will also score loads of goals.

We also have Onuachu, who has been lethal in Denmark.

Right now, i will choose Kayode to partner Kelechi until Osimhen, Sadiq or Dessers are ready. By the end of the season, we will know the most prepared.

Ola Aina had a very solid game for Hull and played an important part in the goal. I think our right back issues are over.

Now we need a left back.

JUPILER LEAGUE WATCH:

Mouscron failed to capitalize on their fine start of the season coming from an away win last weekend, by falling at home 2-5 to Charleroi without Awoniyi -- who is yet to get a working permit . Mouscron's misfiring forwards will make a case for Awoniyi to be handed a debut appearance as soon as he gets his working permit.

you are picking a fight that does not exist. Let me clarify myself again. I wasn't saying Arsenal is different as regards their top4-always aspirations.
I was saying they differ as regards allowing the likes of Iwobi grow and not spending too much on big players in the market.

That's why I said in the absence of no better lethal striker iheanacho it is.

We still have other players that can play behind the main striker. But Iheanacho stands out amongst the strikers.

We need to maximise our strength in the various positions.

I don't believe we don't have that striker. We have not tested enough yet, in partnership with him.

Haha.

Test.

This is the national team.

Every player will need to first prove himself at club level before being considered for a call.

Sorry I have not seen that striker yet.

What's your yardstick then? Because others have done that at club level. so what's the other criteria?

Aina had few games under his belt at Chelsea. "He was considered" but now loaned to Hull. He is beginning to prove his case there in pre-season. First team football wise, let's wait till the season begins. Saying he is good enough to unseat anyone at SE's RB is premature IMO. I'm not saying you cannot be proven right eventually.

What your order criteria. Goal-wise you can do your research that some are proven. We had some impressive performances last year. Whether they can form that deadly partnership with Iheanacho is another matter. Which is why I said they have to be tested.

Liverpool 3 Athletic Bilbao 1 : Solanke Scores & Bags Assist, New Paul Pogba Stars, Firmino Spot On Again

Liverpool 3 Athletic Bilbao 1 : Solanke Scores & Bags Assist, New Paul Pogba Stars, Firmino Spot On AgainLiverpool rounded off their preparations for the 2017-2018 season with an impressive 3-1 win over Athletic Bilbao at the Aviva Stadium (Dublin) on Saturday evening.

England U20 World Cup-winning duo Ovie Ejaria and Dominic Solanke came off the bench for the Anfield side at half-time.

Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino scored his second goal in as many games from the penalty spot after 21 minutes, only for Iñaki Williams to restore parity for the Spanish club on the half-hour mark.

Woodburn restored the Reds one-goal advantage in the 59th minute after he was fed by Dominic Solanke.

Solanke doubled Liverpool's lead with a glorious header in the 80th minute, his third goal in pre-season.

The Golden Ball winner at the 2017 Fifa U20 World Cup was also on target against Crystal Palace and Hertha BSC.

you mean you'll hand him his debut(even as a starter) in such a crunch encounter in a strange environment...

Never equate Club football to International games. They are far different. What is acceptable in club football may not work out in international football

Aina is class. He will not be in Chelsea's first team if he wasn't. Ebuehi plays regular first team football but will he make the Chelsea team? Would Shehu make the Chelsea team?

Absolutely, Aina is class. There are cases where you can make exceptions. He will not be phased by the occasion. Shehu is a good player but Aina will be top class.

sure No doubt about his class. But these boys need gradual introduction/integration into the first team.

I prefer them starting in friendlies or coming in as sub. They can get overwhelmed if rushed which can mar their international career and don't forget it is WCQ against Cameroon not some Seychelles in 'Africa'...

Moses won't be class by your definition, if not for Conte. That's an answer to whether Ebuehi or Shehu will make that first team. So yes, I can't truly say for sure. But like I said earlier. It can still go either way when he makes his full debut for SE. So I reiterate, it's still premature to say he is the RB solution.

For me, both Aina and Nuru are my fantasy LB and RB solution -- until proven.

Honestly @tbaba1234 I've not watched Aina enough. Please feel free to share some vids. I know that we Nigerians can be very sentimental so when I hear the word class I don't fall for that. But if I see class, I will NEVER ever deny it. I'm already watching an Aina highlight on youtube. Please share more vids here if you can. I am watching with that expectation that I will see class.

Just the other day somebody typed here and gave Oliseh etc titles, but I refused not to respond. But just as I cannot deny that some of our players in the past where the best in their playing position/roles in the world for a considerable short time, that person made it seem they were the best in their positions/roles for at least a large spell of their adult playing career.
