Guys and the gurus with experience in the house, first my greetings to you all. Please I will need your advices on these crucial matters. I’ve tried to search for answer her but to no avail. 1. I am to submit an application for EA assessment as a Mechanical Engineer. Presently, work experience is about 7 yrs + 9months. The 9 months is in a different company. Question is, will EA assess my experience as 5 yrs since the 9 months done in a different company didn’t add up to a complete year which will then make the total years be less than 8yrs? Or will it be approximated to 8 yrs? You guys know how crucial that point difference is. 2. If eventually this comes to 5yrs, with my present IELTS score of minimum of 7 across board, I will have a total score of 60 points. Quite low for an ITA. And this brings me to ask a second question. 3. I will like to claim partner points for my spouse so I can get an additional 5pts. The basic issue here is my spouse has a Civil engineering degree but has not done any related work in civil engineering. Related work experience is in the oil and gas line. Drilling in particular but for the past 3 yrs or so, she has been out of employment. Is it necessary that she must be working at the time the assessment application is lodged? Does EA require spouse to have any experience for a positive assessment outcome? Is there a chance of getting a positive assessment? I mean please advice on this as this will require finance which I don’t want to just throw into the winds. I stumbled over these requirements for claiming points for partner skills. The 3rd and 4th item are giving me concerns. You can claim 5 extra points if your partner meets the below requirements: • Under 50 years of age • Has at least competent English • Has nominated an occupation on the same skilled occupation list as your nominated occupation • Has been assessed by the relevant assessing authority as having suitable skills for the nominated occupation Please I await your good responses with advices. Thanks. 1 Like |

Dave4eva: From my understanding, she should just assess the degree using final year projects and add those she worked on in her work experience that is Engineering related. This should work. |
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by nosula: 1:40pm On Sep 13, 2017 |
Johnson2016: MSA Engineers Australia booklet is a good guide when applying to be assessed. I recommend you assess your work experience and educational qualification. I uploaded a reference letter from all companies I worked with. The letter clearly stated the Job designation, amount of hrs worked per day, At least 5 job responsibilities which was duly signed by the HR or supervisor. I also submitted my payslips for entire duration of work experience claimed. Also ensure your career episodes tally with the specified ANZSCO job descriptions. The good thing is that these same documents would also be relevant during the visa application. |

Dave4eva: As it has been said earlier, if you can nail 20 points from PTE, it is far cheaper than claiming partner points. As per her occupation, civil engineering, it will fly and to write her CDR she can make use of her final year project report which she can break into 2 and get 2 career episodes for instance design and construction. She can also make use of any internship even if it was unpaid for and with that , she should be ok but if she's using her final year project, she should be having her transcripts handy. If she wants to use any related project from her past company, she has to get an employment reference letter or a statutory declaration. Cheers. |

@Nosula thanks for your response. Quite on point. Really appreciated. But from what I understood from you response, you mean that irrespective of the fact that I already had a 9months experience elsewhere, with 7yrs + say 3 months in a different company, the total experience amounts to 8yrs? I was thinking that each experience gained in any company has to be a complete duration in year(s) before it is counted and anything less (say couple of months) is not considered. Please would you clarify.

|

Please all, I have some clarifications I need as i am preparing to lodge my visa application; 1. My name on my birth certificate shows only my surname and 1 given name e.g Jackson, Rose while my name on all other documents includes a second given name e.g Jackson, Rose Daisy. is it ok or do I need to do any kind of explanation 2. My husband (secondary applicant) has his surname and 3 given names on his birth certificate e.g Paul John Ralph Reed while on all his other documents, one of the given names which appears first on the birth certificate has been excluded e.g Paul, Ralph Reed. is it ok or do I need to do any kind of explanation 3. My baby is only 8 months old and is not due for the yellow fever vaccine so we did not get a yellow card for her from port health, however she has her national immunization records card issued by the public health centre which we used during medicals. i hope this is okay for her own immunisation evidence. 4. My PTE report had been sent to DIBP from Pearson directly a while ago, do i need to go back and resent it when lodging my application? Your kind suggestions/advice will be appreciated. Thank you |

Dave4eva: The total of 8 years is cumulative. As far as I know, there is no requirement for minimum of a year per company. So you should be fine. |

Hi All, I am new to this forum. I need help on how to obtain the Australian PR. I studied Electrical Electronics Engineering but I do not have any relevant field experience.I however have over five years of Internal Auditing experience, three of which were at a Big 4 audit firm.I also have two internal auditing related certifications. I have done extensive research on the assessing body which is VETASSESS,however some terms are not so clear as regards the suitability of my education qualifications being that my course of study is not related to my work experience. I am at the point of making payments to VETASSESS for the skills assessment and i do not want a negative assessment. I am hoping i would get good feedback on the possible way forward from people who have gone through this kind of experience and obtained their grant. Many Thanks |

mohikeX:I think you get can positive assessment from your EA without work experience. You may wish to consult vetassess if you choose to assess your qualification and work experience before the formal skills assessment. The fee is about $200 or so check this out on their website. Cheeers |

Hello Phlunter, Try save yourself some stress by not including the birth certificates in your application.Your passports are enough as proof of age - birth certs have no bearing in visa application except for age verification. If the names are consistent on other documents then you guys should be fine. Just leave the birth certs out. As for your daughter, her immunisation card surfaces - that was what I submitted in place of yellow card in my case. Even my wife too didn't go through the immunisation procedure, it was only stated in her card that she was breastfeeding, hence cannot immunize. Hope that helps. 1 Like |

If you get the desired score in IELTS Academic, you don't need General again. Regarding the transcript - yes what they require (ICAA and CPA) is coloured copy, so you are good. As per your syllabus, na to go your school sure pass or find a current student who can help you do the leg work btw which school did you finish from? [qquote author=masonkz post=60409072] |
