Morning mate, whilst it may have started with your spat with your girl, you are not responsible for how people choose to conduct themselves subsequently.

If you have let it go, leave others be, it's their choice how they respond. You have said your piece. Let it end there.

Remember you are responsible for your actions solely and can only amend those. Other people's reaction to your actions is up to them, their responsibility not yours.

Stop quoting others and asking them to stop. You are indirectly fanning the flames of discord even if that is not your intention.

hey miss, hello.... you a computer geek?

Finance is more my field. Great that you teach, irrespective of the field. That you are sharing your knowledge and expertise with others is commendable even if it paid cheesy. You are adding value to others and to world.

@ teaching my son? Nah, that kid can teach me a few tricks. He's adept at both Android and ios, thank God for finger print technology, he'd have gotten me into serious debt purchasing apps grin

Lol, I like what you did there; created a need. You'd be good at marketing/sales. grin

However, I'm very much of the school of thought kids should be allowed to follow their passion. At the moment, little man is all about astronomy.
Should I ever see the inclination towards programming from him, I'll be certain to come looking for you. wink

Trust me, you have got to channel his mind towards it. This is a great way. He wants to understand the universe and you need to guide him.
You need to read up about astronomy to be able to guide him on this else you will watch him become an atheist. Lol

Its a good way, teach him physics (not secondary school physics). Get some story books on astronomy, quantum mechanics, cosmology. Guide him. We are looking at another physicist and trust me, he is on the right track

Nah, that age, books would be too much... Videos... i started with engineering videos as a kids, self explanatory videos of the ones where a guide provide instructions...This is the introductory phase, it's mental prowess needs to be built and visual prowess is the best place to start with, as time goes on books can come in, towards 8-10 years of age

A guide from big mummy is what most african kids need.... ask the average african teenager what he hopes to be.. he 'd say any of the following...

1. Doctor.
2. Engineer.
3. Lawyer.
5. Banker.

While all of these professions are good, you can at best become comfortable.

Your childs supposed passion for astronomy wasnt innate... He was exposed to things related to such... If you exposed your child to documentaries relating to medicine... He'd grow passion for medicine. Take a cue from his precocious knowledge of android and what not. If he wasnt exposed to such.. would he know about it?

expose your child to computer skills (i am not talking about MS-WORD and the likes o grin) and watch how he would build video games, websites for his friends before he turns 16. He might the "GO TO GUY" when theres a tech need.

P.S: EVERY LOVES THE GO-TO GUY

meanwhile... theres an app called scratch.. it is an app that equips kids with problem-solving skills and it full of pictures kids can relate to. Belong long, any kid would become a software developer with scratch...... except you think, you child is too young to have problem-solving skills. If you successfully download the app or visit it online and you like its intuitive interface and you also want someone to help groom your kid, pidgintutor is the moniker and better yet check my signature.

Have a lovely day ahead

I will most definitely have a look at that app. I love to expose him to a variety of subjects and see which one he takes to.

He used to love floor puzzles and would fix a 36 piece puzzle, face down from memory at the age of two. Sometimes would sit with two or three working on all of them simultaneously. So yeah, on that basis, he may well take to it like duck to water.

I'm definitely going to download it today, see if he can lured into taking a look. Will keep you updated if he takes the bait. grin

Lol @atheist. I think he is one currently. I haven't discussed the presence or absence of any god/God. He will have to find his own answers without undue influence from me.
I have a couple of apps on his tablet, there is a brilliant one by Professor Brian Cox, kind of like a documentary app, not for kids but it's his favourite.

I think you will find that it is much different for kids growing up in this age. They have access to a lot more knowledge because of the Internet. Eg He also watches a lot of videos of YouTube.

Thanks for your kind words, I am super proud of him, wish I could take credit but the boy simply chooses these things by himself. He has even stopped watching TV and asks that it be turned off.

If you leave him to find the answers, he may wander and wander,i wandered for twenty five years, it opens a path of wandering if he isn't taught. It's like schooling him in principles of Physics, nature abhors vacuum ma, do not forget, i can volunteer to be his life guide, I've worked with and have mentored over 25 kids from small now are doing fine, please tutor him in God, and if he grows up, he can choose not to, but that has to be by 18, but between now and then, let God have space in him...It's similar to how you're tutoring him in astronomy, you're helping him find his life path...Help him find his path in faith too, i can guess you were guided into faith too, an as an adult you chose your path....But at least give him this same opportunity, please ma, I'm begging

I think you're wrong!

You shouldn't impose anything on kids if it's not a life skill. Religion is NOT a life skill!

Astronomy is the kid's passion. The mum didn't impose it on him. He just loves it.

If the kid picks interest in religion, fine! Else, do not impose it on him please.
