Lagos loss will be SS/SE gain. For long people in these region have suffered, died and payed the ultimate price which Yoruba gained. We travel for hours to invest and contribute to lagos economy, many die on the way. Our resources stationed there. Becos of them, we dont have seaport, airport. Today the yorubas have shot themselves in the foot and people like me will take dem to the cleaners using this excuse. Imagine a deep sea port in delta state, Rivers and AkwaIbom. Imagine these three states having their oil company stationed there. I think, many of the militant ill disappear and economic boom will blosom. 3 Likes |

Ereolamide: Non passage of the law won't make lagos cleaner, but that matter needs urgent attention, not this, as for the no man's land slang, we all know lagos belongs to Yoruba and nothing can change that. What makes Lagos home to all but not Anambra, so if Lagos is a home to all it should lose its cultural identity? You can't compare Lagos state to Anambra, How many non-igbo can you count in Anambra ?, Lagos is totally different, it's a meeting point of all Nigerians. You can't force your language on people, Yorubas are good at promoting their cultures, check the Music industry, Almost everybody wants to sing with Yoruba, so your claim about loosing your identity is lame. 1 Like |

Efewestern: The law is not about who Lagos belongs to, it's about promoting and preserving Yoruba language. So, Yoruba people should not promote and preserve their language because Lagos State is home to people from other parts of the country? Where is the sense in that argument? 31 Likes 1 Share |

Igbos should think H.O.M.E.. I have always made the call that Ohaneze should employ Igbo industries outside Igboland to open branches in Igbo cities...This will create employment and attract people back home. I for one has since relocated to the East and contributing my quota in real estate to the area instead of Lagos. Coscharis Zinox Emzor Pharmaceuticals Ibeto Industries Capital Oil Linkserve Ltd Alaba traders Idumota traders Ladipo traders ASPAMDA traders Building material trades Orile Coker Nestoil etc etc INNOSON has done very well in this regard. 5 Likes 1 Share |

omonnakoda:There's a law that supersedes every other law and that is the federal law. ll states laws must not be at variance with the federal law. The Yiruba law is tribalistic and aims at limiting the number of Yorubas who gain admission into schools in Lagos. 1 Like |

Non Igbos in those states should be the ones to stand up and demand that their interests be protected just like Igbos are demanding in Lagos. That's what democracy is all about. 1 Like |

Afam4eva:Citation please? Actually that doctrine does not exist. We operate a system of exclusive and concurrent lists So it is either the law conflicts with the constitution or the state government does not have the power to legislate. We have had Federal laws binned at the Supreme court because they did not have the power to make such laws. By the way this was Litigated by Lagos State? I always find your pseudo intellectualism amusing. I wonder why Hausas have no problem with the law. It is always Ibos that think they have opinions. We have seen such laws in Wales in the UK and in several states in India. The argument about how far the law goes I. e university level is political and not legal. There is no doctrine that says how far the law can go. I suggest you find out what transpires in the French speaking parts of Canada. There is nothing new about this. In my opinion it does not go far enough. It should be a condition for employment by LASG 27 Likes 3 Shares |

Efewestern:How is Yoruba been forced on people, have you gone through the law at all. The law states that if you've to partake in the education programme outlined by the state ministry of education, you must pass Yoruba language. If you can't abide by the law then school in another state, did the government press guns on traders, tradesmen ,artisan and workers in private and federal organizations to learn Yoruba. Even some advanced countries mandates non indigenes to learn their language when going through their schools. So because of its denizens Lagos shouldn't implement laws that she feels are important for her sociocultural appraisal. And about Lagos been cosmopolitan than Anambra, Lagos didn't force anybody to migrate into her boundary. Now that you've assumed the advocate's role, why were you peeved when Ipob included Warri and Ughelli into their tentative maps. 25 Likes 1 Share |

Afam4eva: National Policy on Education (NPE) stipulates that the medium of instruction should be the language of the immediate environment of the child. Schools are free to select such Nigerian Language to be taught. What acceptable framework? The one that's says Lagos is no man's land? Lagos State did exactly what the Constitution and the FG recommend. You don't get to decide what is or not acceptable in Lagos State. That's for the people of Lagos State to decide via their legistlature and they just did that. The most unique things about Lagos are the dominant Yoruba culture from language to arts, entertainment, litrature, lifestyle and way of life. Yoruba people and Lagos State celebrate their LASG sanctioned Yoruba culture and festivals like Eyo and so on, not festivals from your village or other parts of Nigeria. 19 Likes 2 Shares |

The House of Assembly which is a representative of the people living in Lagos passed the law and its binding on everyone including those that support or oppose the law. The house of assemly thinks promoting Yoruba language and culture is very important to Lagos and Lagosians and they have done exactly that.
