Sometimes you'ld think igbos are the only nonindegenes living and working in lagos state. Only igbos want to tell us how we should organise our region. You cry about your investments and contribution to lagos' development everyday as if the yorubas are forcing you to invest in their region. This bill is verry necessary, it's a direct message to you that lagos is not a no man's land. If you are not happy about it go back home and stop investing in lagos. Even the UK govt requires the yoruba language from people seeking to work in its police force, why is it now a sin that yorubas want everyone that will school in Lagos to have formal knowledge of the yoruba language? I was hating Ambode but I'm begining to like him because of this bill. 29 Likes 5 Shares |

cKaiser:It's funny how you guys just pick examples from wherever and try to juxtapose it with what is obtained in Nigeria. Do you know that Quebec tried to break out of Canada in the 60s, so the agreement that was reached that English along with French will be used side by side in all 10 provinces Quebec will be given some level of independence. Here in Nigeria, we don't have that. We're a unitary state pretending to be practicing federalism. 3 Likes |

Afam4eva:What is funnier is your poor attempt to justify your illogical tribal agenda According to the constitution of the FGN we are a federal state where every state has the right to pass laws that suit them. Zamfara passed Shariah almost 20yrs ago and its still in effect till today, Imo and Anambra passed language laws and no one held them to it, Kogi, benue etc passed grazing laws that are unique to their states, So why cant Lagos pass laws in the democratic settings according to the wishes of the lawmakers? 26 Likes 3 Shares |

A TRIBAL LANGUAGE IS MEANT FOR MEMBERS OF THAT TRIBE. IT ALLOWS DEM TO COMMUNICATE EXCLUSIVELY, EXCLUDING ALL OTHERS (NON MEMBERS). YORUBA THINK BY FORCING US ALL TO LEARN THEIR LANGUAGE, WE WILL STOP BEING IJAW, IGBO, URHOBO, ITSEKIRI, IBIBIO EFIK, IGALA, IDOMA. ONE QUESTION, WE ARE ALL SPEAKING ENGLISH, DOES IT MAKE US ENGLISH. YORUBA WILL LEARN IN A HARD WAY WEN FOREIGNERS START USING THEIR LANGUAGE AGAINST THEM. IT WILL HAPPEN. |

Amarabae: Stop this nonsense, Igbos are not ethnic champions, we are too egalitarian and Republican for that. The Biafra you are talking about has never been just about Igbos, the last President of Biafra, General Philip Effiong, was not an Igbo man. So where is this 'begging Ijaws and Ogonis' who were historically part of the Eastern Region and Biafra, coming from? How many times have you talked about the Benue Igbos? Over one million Igbos and their ancestral lands carved into Benue. Fo you talk sbout Igbnke? Six communities of Ika- Igbo speaking people carved into Edo. How do you divorce the Anioma nation from their Itsekiri and Urhobo nation in Delta state. There is nothing wrong in being proud of being Igbo but know where to draw the line between being an Igbo ethnic jingoist and supremacist. 1 Like 1 Share |

Amarabae: I think you are wiser than most Igbo dolts here..lol. The real reason is basically that because it has become too rampant and getting so annoying.Lagos is truly a cosmopolitan state but that does not mean it is without indigenes. Some other laws are coming which are legal anyway that will help in assuaging flexed nerves.Yoruba's had never hated Igbos because apart from the criminalities which other group has too, they are fun to live with and nation builders like the Yorubas.I think there is something about Igbos and the Yorubas.Maybe I do not know something.I have read a lot about our two leaders,Awo and Zik,and I think Zik had always suspected that Awo and his people might dominate them even when the other volunteered to be his vice ,he agreed not and the rejection of secession clause which would have been a benefit for all especially the Niger Deltans who bear almost all the brunt.Yorubas have the attitude of live and let live.If you look at history, one will find out that Yorubas had proven to be the senior from outset. It is not a mistake that you are always venturing to try to overwhelm the Yorubas,it is because they are the only people that have surpassed the Igbos in almost everything but not everything. We would not attack one another because we are not savages but I think we would continue this competition even in different countries.Stay in Lagos and prosper, you prosper,we prosper and everybody prospers. 22 Likes 2 Shares |

Amarabae: igbos really dont realise what they have. You have spoken sense. What good are we as blacks if we don't have unique identities. variety is the spice of life a good spice infact. As long as we all respect each others culture, something the igbos fail at which is the crux of why yorubas dont like igbo (as a society) not individually (my close pal is pure igbo). otherwise, why would we as Yoruba need to make these statements or laws if someone isnt overstepping bounds.... Igbos have the power of unison, if they put it to use. And would be greatly respected if they respect others, but until then. 1 Like |
