We will do the same.” 31 You must not worship the Lord your God in their way, because in worshiping their gods, they do all kinds of detestable things the Lord hates. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods.

So it decides that the best way to test its loyal servant is to ask him to do something the god hates to see if its loyal servant will obey a thing the god hates? And then rewards the servant for attempting to do the thing the god hates? How does this make sense?

As a matter of fact no man will sacrifice his son ordinarily out of reverence or as voluntary unprovoked worship for a supernatural being. That's the last thing a man will do and those who do it, do it for power, money, or something they desperately want from dark sources. God tests and doesnt tempt. James 1:13-14.

God tests and doesn't tempt. He proved Abraham was a faithful servant. It is the devil who tempts by leaving or allowing them to do the actual killing.
James 1:13-14. God tempts no one but all are tempted by their desires.

There is a saying : a man with no opportunity yet calls himself an honest man. God presents an opportunity for man to act out his real subconscious plans without hurting anyone and see man's reaction.

God could have allowed Abraham to go ahead with the killing to prove Abraham was loyal but only tested him far enough to see his choice ( obedience or disobedience ). on the contrary, devil is totally out to make as many parents slaughter their bright children and doesn't say no except when God exempts the victim.

To test and prove that person faithful. God still test men till this day but in less dramatic ways to prove them wrong. A brother who has never handled large money in church may say he can never be tempted to steal. but God knowing him more than him may present a brief opportunity for him to handle money and show him he is capable of such. That doesn't mean God tempted him but he tested him and he failed. Remember He is the moulder and able to mould one vessel to honour and another to dishonour.
