Its rumoured that Hummels have a re-sign clause but Dortmund denied it, Its probably because Hummels was a Bayern youth product and most of the guys he grew up with in the Bayern academy are still around.

Moreover Bayern is the biggest German club and the fastest way of gaining international recognition as a German player.

Many believe Hummels and Howedes inability to break into the German team was due to them not playing at Bayern while Badstuber who is slightly less talented is already a regular for the NT.

I believe Hummels would come to Bayern but not in the next 2 seasons. He would play CL for Dortmund first

With Bayern being 14 points behind league leaders Borussia Dortmund, the Dutch manager admitted that their chances of defending their title are more or less over. “Our ambition is to get to the second place in the league and go as far as possible in the Champions League, reach the finals … maybe we can even win it,” stated the 59 year old.[\quote]

To all Bayern fans,

After almost eight years in Munich, the new sporting situation at the club caused me to leave Bayern at the turn of the year and join Málaga in Spain. As the transfer was completed in double-quick time and took place during the winter break, I feel a very powerful need to thank each and every one of you for the friendly, sporting and above all personal way you’ve treated me as part of this great club in recent years.

I still have very clear memories of the initial contacts before I moved to Munich. Wolfgang Dremmler gave me a Spanish-German pocket dictionary, which I started to read on the flight back to Argentina – with some concern, as I didn’t understand a word of German. But the gesture meant a lot to me, as a first sign of the club and myself coming together. It was an attempt to overcome a fundamental barrier between the two sides coming together. I knew difficulties with the language on my part would throw up a barrier we’d need to break down, which is why it was such an important gift, and I valued it so highly. Nowadays, I can proudly say that German has become my second language.

The move brings to an end an unforgettable chapter in my life, in which I’ve developed not only as a player, but also as a person. I can assure you that, during my stay in Munich, I grew as a sportsman, and became physically and mentally stronger. I’ve discovered aspects of myself I never suspected before.

It was a period of time which I began as a young, inexperienced player, but later progressed until I ultimately became a full international. That led to great recognition of my qualities as a player.

I really want to emphasise how much I felt at home in Munich. Over the past seven and a half years, I’ve made many good friends and always been warmly received. It means a great deal to me that my son Martín was born in such a wonderful city.

I leave now, thrilled to have come to know all of you, and especially all the staff at the club. I’m exceptionally proud I had the chance to represent your historic club, the biggest club in Germany and one of the greatest in the world. I played 260 games for Bayern and scored 15 goals, won the league and the cup four times each, the league cup twice and the supercup once, and reached the final of the UEFA Champions League. Success of this order is very special to a player and I retain truly unforgettable memories.

I’ll always be a good ambassador for Bayern, communicating the strengths and virtues of the club, its management and its staff. The only thing that’s ended is a contract: my positive feelings and my identification with everyone who makes up the huge Bayern family will continue into the future.

I’ll always be grateful to all of you and want you to know there’ll always be a place in my heart for you.

Servus, farewell, and see you soon!

Martin Demichelis

Despite having all the best players in the German league? being 16 points behind Dortmund, a club that almost went broke a few years back is bordering on the ridiculous. What is your excuse?

Just tell me you expect us to win the league every year while explain why your club has been half a decade trophyless and never won the CL since the dinosaurs left the face of the earth

dayokanu you get time o. . .maybe the dinosaurs would have to return for them to win the CL . . .funny thing is the Guners make the loudest noises. . .and put their noses into other teams who are more successful . . .Portsmouth and Spurs have titles in that half decade. . .yet they shamelessly meddle into other peoples' biz. . .

Meanwhile,dayokanu,
van Bommel is likely to be on his way out. . .what do you think?
Re: Offical Bayern Munich Fan Thread: 6x Champions Of Europe by dayokanu(m): 5:20pm On Jan 19, 2011
Van Bommel might be on his way out. The rumour has lingered for too long and FO is not doing anything to quell it.

We heard Wolfsburg, Tottenham and even Milan(You know they like them old) are after him.

Van Bommel is becoming a burden. One thing I give him is that he is a tough competitor but age is catching up and he fouls a lot. We recently bought Luis Gustavo who is Van Bommels long term replacement, Tymoschuk can also play in CM.

I would suggest he goes in the summer though for free unless Bayern buys someone soon.

If Van Bommel should leave in our starting line up of Kraft, Lahm, Breno, Badstuber, Pranjic, Luis Gustavo, Schweini, Robben Ribery, Muller and Gomez,

The oldest would be the 1983(Lahm, Robben, Ribery, Pranjic) guys and the average age would be something like 22-23. Far too young to make any meaningful impact on the big stage IMO.

Thomas Kraft - 1988, Breno- 1989, Badstuber- 1989, Luis Gustavo- 1987, Schweini- 1984, Muller-1989, Kroos- 1990, Gomez- 1985. Looks like a team for an under age competition

When did Luiz Gustavo sign for Bayern? I saw him come off the bench in the last game.

And whats up with Carlos Eduardo. Is he still at Hoffenheim? And is he still the main man?
Re: Offical Bayern Munich Fan Thread: 6x Champions Of Europe by Ibime(m): 6:45pm On Jan 19, 2011
So Carlos Eduardo has moved to Russia? I thought he was injured all this while.

Meanwhile, where is Obasi? Still injured?
Re: Offical Bayern Munich Fan Thread: 6x Champions Of Europe by dayokanu(m): 7:03pm On Jan 19, 2011
Luis Gustavo signed for Bayern at the end of last yr.

You know Hoffenheim is in a bit of crisis , Ragnick resigning because he felt Dietmar Hopp owner of Hoffenheim and CEO of SAP sold Luis Gustavo without telling them.

Obasi is still there jare

I really love the German league. But i dont really like Bayern Munich cos of their penchant for grabbing any half decent player from other clubs in the Bundesliga. Werder Bremen for me any day. I cant forget the Ailton-Micoud combo of 2003/04 season. Was gutted when Diego returned from Italy only to go Wolfsburg instead of Bremen
Re: Offical Bayern Munich Fan Thread: 6x Champions Of Europe by dayokanu(m): 6:32pm On Jan 20, 2011
Werder Bremen was on the ascendancy in the mid 2000 but they have regressed because of several things

1) I think Thomas Schaff is at the end of where his brains can take him. He is the longest serving Bundesliga coach and its becoming counter productive. Having a mediocre coach for a long time in the seat would bring the ambition of the club to where the coach's ability can get to.

2) Bremen is basically a selling club, That means they have to sell most of their top stars like Micoud to buy a young Diego, Diego matured they sold him and a young Ozil came up, They sold Oezil now and are hoping Marin and Arnautovic can live up to the billing, When those ones mature they would sell them again and the cycle continues.

3) They lowering their expectation of just qualifying for CL and hopefully making it beyond the group stages.

4) Their style of play is too attacking to be succesful on the long run. No serious club would play the twin towers of disaster : Naldo and Mertersacker and hope to do anything meaningful in Europe. Bremen would believe in outscoring their opponents. A classic example is their game vs Valencia last season that ended 5-4

Can you see similarities with a particular club in the EPL? Coincidentally the club too last won the league the same year Bremen won the league

Will you shut up dia. He probably would end up winning the champions league if he indeed joins Milan(a trophy he could not win at Bayern).

l dont see anything that can remove miroslav Klose from bayern munich. not even 1000 gomez/olic. though at the twilight zone yet deadly and more prolific than some young strikers. Klose my man

Love it when u take a dig at Arsenal like this. Actually it's due to that all attackin style that made me fall in love with WB. Just like my number 1 team Spurs.
I was suprised when u called Mertesecker a disaster,i believed he's been an integral part of the Mannschaft defence for a while now. Means Loew may know see somethin in him
Re: Offical Bayern Munich Fan Thread: 6x Champions Of Europe by dayokanu(m): 8:26am On Jan 21, 2011
Assanal are my whipping boys.

Per Mertersacker came on the scene over 5yrs ago and I was really hopeful for him from his Hannover days but he is disappointing in the sense that he hasn't improved that much since then.

He came at a time when Germany was very short in talent especially in Central defence, At the same time with Robert Huth. He was decent in 2006 world cup but with the defensive talent coming into the German game more, it would be hard for him to play ahead of them based on Merit.

Guys like Hummels, Howedes, Badstuber, Westermann, Sedar Tasci, Jerome Boateng look to be more talented.

Mertersacker has some upsides e.g he hardly fouls, this also doubles as his weak point. He tries to be too clean for a defender. He doesnt do the little shirt tugging and dirty things a defender needs to do. he tries to cover for it by being a goal threat but his recovery is expectedly slow for a big man.

His combination with Naldo (Per's Brazilian version) is always disastrous. Joachim Loew always keep faith with his boys.

Who would have expected Klose and Podolski who had terrible scoring record in the league to be guaranteed regular shirts? Moreover Arne friedrich covered a lot for Mertersacker while Schweinsteiger and Khedira did an insane amount of work.

Klose alone scored more than All Assanal players put together at the World cup. He is tied with Gerd Muller and behind Ronaldo in World cup all time goals.

Go figure if any GAYYner player can even be close

@Dayokanu. I just have to salute you ni. U are really an authority in German football. U must be based in Germany right?
One other ques. Seems to me as if Hamburg contributed the most number of players to the German 2010 WC team. One would tend to think it should be Bayern considering their grab grab nature. Or are Bayern more interested in getting South American talents than promoting German ones?

In the South Africa World cup squad Bayern had 7 players while Hamburg had 4.- Marcel jansen, Jerome Boateng, Dennis Aogo, Trochowski

In the German starting line up: Neuer (Schalke), Lahm (bayern), Mertersacker(Bremen), Friedrich(Hertha Berlin), Badstuber (Bayern)/Boateng(Hamburg), Khedira(Stuttgart), Schweinsteiger(Bayern), Muller (bayern), Ozil(Bremen), Podolski(Cologne) and Klose (Bayern).

Actually the opposite is the case with Bayern and SouthAmericans. At the moment,Breno is the only South American that starts for Bayern and like 3 weeks ago we bought another South American Luis Gustavo

That means 4-5 Bayern players in the starting 11.

Hamburg is one of the richer clubs in German football and they have a Big Stadium Almost 60,000 but they have been inconsistent They feed off players that are offloaded by Bayern. E.g Piotr Trochowski, David Jarolim, Marcel Jansen, Ze Roberto etc.

They are more accomodating to African players though. E.g Boatengs, Aogo, Guy Demel, Jonathan Pitroipa, Macauley Chrisantus and Chupo Moting
