I would like fans to check the way Marquinhos, Verratti, and Draxler played to see how a top class midfield plays.
Verratti and Herrera had similar roles as the CMs, with Pogba and Draxler being the AMs, and Marquinhos and Matic being the DMs. If we want to be a top team our 1st choice CM should be closer to the Verratti level rather than the Herrera level. There is a limit to which passion and energy can take you if you don't have that outstanding ability.

Cant look to be a top team if your game changer is only one player. Just look at Half a Dozen FC and their Shakushaku maestro for example.

1) That we need a RB is not new information. We all knew this and are hoping we get a top quality one next year, or that Dalot's progression is accelerated.

2) Matic and Herrera have to be improved if we need to become a really good team. This is especially true in the case of Herrera whose limitations on the ball were exposed yesterday. I have said this for years and was attacked for it, but i think people are beginning to see it also.

3) That our RW is dead is not news. We have been asking for a good RW for years now.

Ole's success was in spite of our structural deficiencies as a team, but it did not eradicate those deficiencies.

I think we pamper Martial a lot. His off the ball movement has to be the worst among our forwards bar Lukaku. He just stand along the line and expect the ball at his feet. He’s also lazy and needs to improve his mentality. I think Pogba always try to open space for him as an outlet so he can make those crazy runs but no ooo, baba will just stay static like something else. With all that potential, he needs to do better.

Mentality is a large chunk of it, but it is more than that. He truly has difficulty being effective off the ball.
All the off the ball runs and "in and out" runs that come naturally to Lingard, and to a lesser extent Rashford are alien to Martial.

Despite his poor mentality he is our best player in 1v1 situations in space, and he is our best finisher. His struggles are when he is not in those exact situations.
