Prosecutors don't try to see through the lenses of the defendant. Their job is to prosecute, thus they do everything in their power to get a conviction. The defendant is their prey, and they go for the kill anyway they can. Likewise, any good litigator out there only cares about winning. People that make well constructed arguments are more likely to convince the jury of the client's innocence (even if their clients are guilty AF), than people with porous arguments.

Have you ever met an ambitious, politically inclined DA? They don't take a case they won't win, cuz an exemplary conviction record exponentially improves their CV, and a potential mayoral appointment. Anytime you see a DA squaring off against a defendant in court, empathy in regards to the later's innocence is the last thing on their minds.

You are talking to an American. American prosecutors care about conviction rates. Their career is based on that. Innocence comes in second.
