The prosecutor does not even talk to the defendant sometimes until they are ready to take the case.

The merits of the case on paper is what they need in most cases. For some defendants, the first time they see the prosecutor is when the prosecutor comes in with a plea deal because the prosecutor is sure of a win.

In court, actions on paper and video are used to judge the intent of the defendant. The prosecutor does not really need the defendants input unless they want to catch them on pejury
