ernie4life: I have to be a bit sentimental here did you use the link in my signature to open the account? Because that is the only way I can benefit o. Well if not next time use it and help your brother. That is by the way, what ernie4life is say is this. VGIF has a guaranteed income base on the sdf while there is always additional income. The SDF - standard deposit facility is the rate CBN gives to Banks when they deposit funds with them. It used to be 9% but during one of the CBN meetings within the year it was reduce to 8.5%. So VGIF guaranteed rates is bench marked with sdf. But from experience there is always additional income. You can check my signature for any ... if need be. 3 Likes |

emmasoft: Supported, it would be morally wrong for someone to come here, get sensitive information but go behind you and open an account but when he or she needs further clarification or has a problem, the same person will come here asking for answers. I remember the days when VGIF was pegged to MPR and was paying more than treasury bills, those good old days 1 Like |

Quick one; Is there a dollar version of MMF? Something with lower risk, shorter holding/lock down period and daily interest, but in dollar. If you know any, please share. * I’m not asking for Eurobond. Thanks |

emmanuelewumi: I stand to be corrected but I think dollar funds are like MMF, usually there lock in period is 180days as against buying eurobonds which are typically long term investments. You can invest with as little as $1k as against buying eurobonds directly where you will need up to $10k and above. The downsize is when you invest with small volume and or a short tenor, transaction charges alone will almost wipe out your profits but dollar funds offerw you the opportunity to accumulate dollars over a period of time while still giving you returns above what domiciliary account would give. 3 Likes |
Re: Mutual Funds by emmanuelewumi(m): 2:00pm On Dec 21, 2019 |
ernie4life: Eurobond also have waiting periods of 180 days. The Eurobond funds of FBN Asset Management, Stanbic IBTC, United Capital and others are all mutual funds. You need between $1000 and $10,000 to invest in them |
Re: Mutual Funds by emmanuelewumi(m): 2:03pm On Dec 21, 2019 |
To buy Eurobonds directly from the issuer ie Federal Government and Nigerian Corporate Organisations, you will need from $100,000. Hence the reason why we have Eurobond funds which are managed by fund managers and asset managers. You will need $10,000 to by the dollar fund of FSDH Asset Management |
Re: Mutual Funds by Fxmanager(m): 2:04pm On Dec 21, 2019 |
Alexgeneration:You did not state the country that you are making reference to. If we assume that you are making reference to regulation of forex trading in Nigeria, then you are right to say that forex trading is not regulated in Nigeria yet. But at the same you need to know that forex trading is regulated in other countries/brokers jurisdiction across the world, and this regulation covers traders/investors doing business with the government licensed and regulated brokers and their representatives here in Nigeria. |
Re: Mutual Funds by Alexgeneration(m): 2:20pm On Dec 21, 2019 |
Fxmanager:So the forex regulations from other countries is some kind of Geneva conventions or pronouncements from ICJ in the Hague? And such regulations will protect the capital of investors in your FX business? We shouldn't mislead the public all in the bid to grow our business. |
