First of all..

Never bring serious issue to nairaland.

So many stupid people and kids here..

Most only read the content not the context.

Best solution is to accept fate..

Since the other woman has subeb backing.. that's all..

If you write to commissioner of education .. no solution .. they have power more than you do..

God bless

Take a deep breath and calm down dear. I am sure a calm mind will find a solution to these problems and not an agitated one.

I am of the opinion that your mother should reach out to TESCOM, Teaching Service Commission, I believe they are called, and tender her case before them in person.

All the best dear. Mothers should be protected always and not made to go through such harsh situations.

Something is really wrong somewhere.

Aside that this story is from one perspective, another huge concern is the grammar: Lexis, structure, tenses, construction.

Mum is the best teacher you know. She is a primary school teacher. That suggests she teaches at the elementary level where one of the core subjects is English language.

I'm afraid you may just have 'fallen hand' very badly - in the Nigerian lingua - and you have not covered so much in glory, at least to buttress your best teacher assertion.

As to the matter at hand, there are established ways in the civil service to resolve disputes: Teaching Service Commission, Civil Service Commission, and at the extreme, the National Industrial Court.

However, excuses like distance of assignment from residence shouldn't arise, really. It isn't an excuse to be officially considered at all in that line of responsibility. If anything at all, it should be lobbied for, under the table, and not presented as a major issue.

Best wishes.

Sir, with due respect, you've got no point here. Forget about the grammar, becos that's not the message. Set aside his grammar and deal with the message. The op is in pains so leave him alone if you have nothing reasonable to say.
Just imagine if it's your mum who was treated this way, how would u have felt?

I forget to add that the other person they transferred to my mom school from the school they are having rifts was well known at SUBEB and was a very powerful person so she initially pointed where my mom was heading that she want that place or they transfer her back to her sch back, but my mom refused it, and since she has the back up of SUBEB, the chairman and almost everyone at that SUBEB came this morning and chased my mom out of her office saying she was suspended.

from ma own perspective as a teacher with government, she has no right to reject transfer, she works for the government and the same government transfered her. Maybe they see her as someone who will normalise the situation in that school. She owes the government an apology through writting. We are all bound by ethics of civil service commission.

In the Civil Service, you obey before you complain. You hardly win a case once disobedience is involved. She shouldn’t have refused to collect the letter. It’s an offense under Civil Service code of conduct.

She should accept and then work towards changing her posting to a more favorable place on medical grounds. She’ll retire within 3 years anyway.

It’s unfortunate but she shouldn’t push her rejection further to avoid disciplinary action which could affect her retirement plans. God in His mercy will help her win the battle.

I Am writing this with my heart bleeding with too much pains, I need help!!!!! My mom has been working with the government as a teacher for the past thirty two years, she's upright and diligent and a very hardworking woman, she's the best teacher I grew up to know.

She was promoted to head teacher November last year after all she's due for it. In another school, the same local government, there are rifts and fights within that school which is school 1,2,3 which does not have anything to do with my mom, suddenly they called my mom from SUBEB, they want to transfer her to that school where they have been having loggerhead. But it's not that she doesn't want to go but my mom has health challenges. She's high blood pressure patient and the place of primary assignment is very far from our residence so she refused to collect the letter of transfer and she presented her doctor's report at SUBEB.

They do not only cheated her but they also humiliated and violated her human right and harassed her publicly just because we don't know anybody from the government.

Meanwhile it's just within the local government, it has not reach the state level, At this present moment we don't know what to do. She has been so devastated and sad since morning. We have been praying but we still don't know what to do.
is your mom working with ondo state subeb

Isn't she due for retirement after 32 years?

It's not good for her health to be struggling for position in this manner.

Btw I don't think it's your fight, op, there are too many mother threads/references on nl, all very subjective. How can Nigerian women be having various fights all the time for decades, always one thing or another. No rest in any form, even when elderly?

Can't you the kids help her out so she doesn't have to feel worried, you could start a school or something if you're financially empowered.

I will try as much as possible not blast you

but what i see here is foolishness/insincerity of the highest order

your mum want to eat her cake and still have it

she has serious heart challenges, what stops her tendering her resignation letter to look after her health

No she will rather be cheating the system...,didn't she read the ethical code of teaching.."Teaching is a service to humanity"

please she should report to her new job immediately and stop flexing power with her fellow colleague

Let her bear in mind that Teachers reward is in heaven!

And you feel this is the right thing to speka to someone at their low point. May the desire to appear correct not let you guys cause people's death. Some people will stand before God and get thrown into the lake of fire, albeit not knowing their words killed people who took their life after they heard hurtful words from your kinds. Smh

Lol, let us call a spade a spade.

Your mom should have known the ethics of government work, she is a civil servant.

Your mother deserves what she got.

You know why? Because she disobeyed orders from the governing and regulatory body.

What she should have done is, since she has been transferred, she would have collected the transfer letter, report to the said school and then work for her redeployment.

There are rules of engagement.

My mom retired as a government secondary school principal. Trust me, I know how some of these things work.

Your mom deserves the suspension. Well except for the dragging out and disgraced.

Simple and short.

As for her health? Since she knows that her health cannot carry her with the type of job she has. There are various types on retirement plans.
She could have applied for a voluntary retirement based on health issues.

Sentiments aside.

Let us tell ourselves the truth.

Obey first.

Do you know how those people that gave your mother the orders to transfer will feel when their orders are disobeyed?

My mum retired as a Lagos State teacher a little over 2 years ago. At about 3 years to the end of her service, she was transferred twice. Another one of her colleagues was transferred thrice towards the end of his tenure, the 3rd time to a school in a far away local government and he reported there till he retired.

Op's mum has been in service long enough to realize that transfer letter can come at any time. It is clearly stated in their appointment letters. Failure to comply with the transfer which is part of the terms of employment will be treated as insubordination and could get penalized. The humiliation part I don't agree with. There is a national union of teachers and a teaching service commission she can report the assault to but I doubt if she can reverse the transfer

The analogy might be Nigerian men throwing out their wives, very common in Yorubaland.

Scheming and Nigeria go hand in hand.

Very obvious on nairaland since it's mostly Nigerians here.

Sorry about the embarrasment,I think the only thing that she have to do now is to report to the school they posted her. There is no excuses their before they start stories about her grantuity. Someone that I know was transferred from school in the town to a certain school in one village but she lobbied with some amount and she was then transfered to a different school in the town. There is no two way about it.
Transfer is their second name.
