I'd really like to see how Kenya will respond
You and me both. But I doubt it would be anything dramatic.

Unless the Kenyan government piles up this incident with the other one that happened last month, where Ethiopian pro govt militia (Who are the equivalent of Police Reservists) attacked Kenyan workers who were digging trenches on the Kenyan-Ethiopian border in an attempt to stop smuggling of goods and people during this corona pandemic period. So that's two strikes for Ethiopia in less than 35days.

APRIL 1 2020 Tension is high in Moyale town after Ethiopian gunmen, said to be unhappy with the closure of Kenyan border to arrest the spread of coronavirus, attacked a team of local contractors.
The contractors, who started work on Monday, had been hired by the county administration to dig tunnels on the borderline to stop entry and exit from Kenya.
Source told the Nation that the gunmen opened fire on the workers as they excavated a tunnel on Wednesday morning, ripping apart the fuel tank of an excavator .
Gunshots rent the air as the gunmen in military uniform engaged the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in sporadic exchange of fire and running battles.
"KDF has rushed to quell the tension and as we speak there is calm."
A Kenya Chamber of commerce official told the Nation that Ethiopian traders and security forces were unhappy with Nairobi's decision to close the border.
Reports indicate Ethiopian Takabas, the equivalent of Kenyan police reservists, expressed their displeasure and vowed to keep the border open.
A local was hit by a stray bullet and was treated at a local hospital and discharged.
They got in touch with the Federal Government of Ethiopia which responded and dispersed the militia,” the source said.
The fight followed a meeting between Moyale security team and the Ethiopian government over the trenches.
County commissioner Evans Achoki confirmed the incident.
Kenya closed the border in an attempt to contain the spread of coronavirus, an announcement that was made by Marsabit Governor Mohamed Ali on March 29.
He, however, noted that there were unauthentic crossing points and called on the national government to ensure police are stationed in the porous areas.
Ethiopian ambassador to Kenya Alem Meles said he could not comment at the time as he was waiting for briefing from Addis Ababa.

KDF and Ethiopian Armed men clash in Moyale. Residents report exchange of gunfire between the two.
Ethiopian armed men said to be a clan militia had reportedly opened fire at a Kenyan contractor digging a trench on the border opposing it's construction.

It seems Britain now has the ultimate rifle. Please see link.

I heard long ago that Israel had such weapon, but i doubted it. It didn't seem technologically possible to combine high kinetic motion with targeting and manoeuverability, in a small bullet.

Nigerian Defence Industry

Short Documentary on the Ezugwu MRAP.

Very close range firing with AK-47.

It can resist 12KG mine. Same as ARA II from Proforce.

Proforce Defence can easily convert this vehicle to a self-propelled mortar system.
does the chassis of that vehicle look to you like something that can bear the burden of a mortar. Even the light ballistic protection on it is already too much weight. Why don't you hang the mortar on a keke na Pepe.

When completed Nigerian Navy ships would be able to spend months at sea

These 100 foot SDBs? Hardly. With their small size they're strictly for light in shore duties,EEZ patrolling,SAR etc, etc.

I didn't say Nigeria can't fit missiles on those ships, however it isn't going to take a few hours as you stated...... 75% of the build cost and time on constructing a ship goes into the battle management system(radar, targeting systems ect ect) .... Thus it would take months if not years to rearm those ships with missiles.... Never mind the fact that the NN would first need to purchase missiles as it has none at the moment

I've been avoiding this exchange: also months of testing before even a live missile fire involving different sensor systems, sub systems, different OEMs with their individual products, field tests, trial and error incorporating extant radar and fire control system may take up to a year if rushed,2 is the norm.

ode.. It's your physics teacher that is ignorant. Can't you see in all the pictures you posted that the chassis was re-inforced. How do you expect an SUV already carrying the weight of ballistic steel to start moving around mortars.

You probably used your Okeke Physics for toilet papers back in school.

You should have instead suggested they used the faulty ezeugwu contraption for this.

The Army should leave vehicle manufacturing to competent private bodies like ProForce and INNOSON. train it's officials on quality assessment for procured vehicles before using any of them. Saw somewhere that Algeria turned back some MIG 29's procured from Russia due to substandard materials used in part of its component can Nigeria pull of that level of quality assurance test or are we just a junkyard for anything that moves and flies.

In the long run we do not need too many kinds of armoured vehicle in the field, creating a nationwide standard for armoured vehicle artitecture, is key to a stable doctrine and key to a sustainable defence industry ( in the area of defense vehicles).

The Humvees was successful because it was made a standard, the Cobra was successful because it was a standard.

We shouldn't just commend, your job as a military commentators is to criticize and make valued assessments.

You (searching google, search phrase: bad as5 military stuffs) : hey look at this shiny military equipment.
You(2 mins later) posts it on Nairaland: Nigerian army needs to convert all their vehicle to this stuff I just found on Google.

That's how you always sound when you post crap from Google and suggest it for the Armed Forces.

I don't think you're referring to my post. The Barges that are been built will replenish Navy Ships at sea. This means the Ships can spend longer at sea patrolling the gulf of Guinea.

I was not referring to the SDBs which we have. Besides the SDBs are also ocean going. They would not be able to handle very rough seas but they've proven to be very capable. Traveling all the way to Ghana and participating in various military exercises at sea.

In light of recent events, I'm forced to make this public announcement.

This thread is not defence headquarters, it is not the office of the NSA and it's definitely not the President's office.

I am not the army chief or the chief of defence staff, neither am I the President.

So please don't ask me questions or refer to me like I'm the top brass.

Thank you all for your anticipated cooperation!! grin grin grin

New-Zealand doesn't have a fighter aircraft fleet, do you know why?

If you know why, relate it to Nigeria.

It was their woman PMs decision. Nobody elses input wad considered and ofc she was striking a blow for World Peace.

Max Bradford, the National Party's defence spokesman, said: "This short-sighted plan leaves New Zealand with a defence force of similar capacity to that of Papua New Guinea and Fiji."

egyptian army still far ahead of algerian army , the egyptian army has been frighteningly modernizing in recent years with many billions contracts

egypt plays the role of protector of the Arab states of the Persian Gulf , and therefore receive billions in arms each year from them , also plays on peace with israel and also receive more than a billion each year in arms from the usa , support also hafter in libyan war ( i m sur not for free ) . add that egyptian army control a big party of egyptian economy (egyptian economy is not small) so they have a lot of ressources , and even last years russia and china also try to be close to them . so the gap will be larger in the future

and this crazy guys when all countries are fearing economic recession and talking about budgets limitation because of coronavirus , they want to refurbish 43 AH-64E helicopters, with an estimated price tag of $2.3 billion grin thats 53 millions dollars per helicopters for refurbishment . not new ones lipsrsealed

Like the Pak army who even control real estate! Its a terrible idea-armed forces should always be under civilian oversight. When not and they enter the business world invariably they're a law unto themselves.

didgori armored vehicle 120mm mortar from Georgia.

Nigerian Defence manufacturers should turn their attention to building vehicles like these.

They can easily convert various light armoured vehicles to mortar carriers.

A vehicle like this would work very well with destroying BHT swarm attacks.

Ideally it needs own 14.5 mm or .50 BMG to combine direct fire capability not just self defence.

Really
? That freeboard looks way too small.

Freeboard, distance from the waterline to the freeboard deck of a fully loaded ship; it is measured amidships at the side of the hull. The freeboard deck is the deck below which all bulkheads are made watertight; above it that precaution is not necessary.

An 85 m OPV like the BAM can handle up to sea state 5. Can the SDM or barge deal with SS3?

Look at that larger ship fighting the sea. Observe.
