olayiwola72:Most of cars being auctioned are private ones not even commercials. I think there are some measures government should not take in any poverty-stricken country. Beside, auctioning of car is selective process. Unfair system is dangerous to peace. Government is interested in making money not in solving traffic problems. There are better way of punishing traffic offenders not by subjecting more people to poverty. 1 Like |

This is man's inhumanity to man. Heavy fine is enough deterrent. I stopped using phone while driving after spending 22,000 to get my car back for using phone while driving. |

This is totally unfair and injustice. Why not fine them 50k for their offenses if govt wants to correct the defaulters rather than impounding and auctioning off their vehicles which I consider not just as punitive but also wickedness. |

How do you seize people's car for a mere traffic offences and auction them? why? it's never done anywhere. And don't tell me it's the law , cause the law is an ass. If I were one of the owners of the car I will trace the buyer to their locations and take my vehicle from them by stealing it. what nonsense 1 Like |

phygo89: It's very harsh indeed because what they suppose to do is fine them a certain amount of money for their wrong doing and the only reason why they can auction their vehicle is if they can't come up with the amount they ask them to pay for the fine which I believe most of them if not all will be able to pay. |

It's sad to see your hard earned property being auctioned. Not in this harsh economy where you toil to earn a living. Always try to obey laws. I process tinted permit, registration of new/used vehicles and renewal of expired vehicle documents. Kindly check my signature for contact. Thanks! |

GerraMeh74: Obviously you are neither a Lagosian not understand their acts. Those buyers were fake... It was a plan between the auctioneer and the fictitious buyers to hike the auction far from the reach of the owner to fleece them of their properties while paying a far lesser amount behind the scene and bribe the organizers with small amount of money. Btw, I have never heard of such draconian law in my lifetime where you will be robbed of your car because of traffic offence..... Can the car owners apply to court of appropriate jurisdiction to get an injunction stopping their cars from being actioned instead of trying to buy back what legally belong to them. I just know that no one is save in this country any longer. 1 Like |

At last sanity will return to Lagos roads. Government should continue to sell seized vehicles. Nigerians especially Lagosians are notoriously stubborn. 1 Like 1 Share |

DenreleDave: Unfortunately they were caught. Don't get caught too. The truth is that Lagos gets more like a jungle everyday. Look at how NURTW hijacked the endsars protest that was supposed to draw our FGs attention to the irresponsibility of some policemen. Now NURTW makes driving on the roads very difficult. Okadas have completely invaded Lagos and moving around more cumbersome. Thuggery now is the order of the day. If our society must get better then we need to get disciplined and be law abiding. It's quite painful losing a property in that manner, but the truth is that many drivers will sit up. My only disagreement here is that the major violators of the law are the public bus drivers. Is the government of Lagos scared of them? Lastma officials seem to collect bribes from them and let them off the hook. The danfos, koropes, Kekes and Okadas should be seized and publicly auctioned as a deterrent to other members of their association. Lagos roads also need to be fixed. We are approaching two years of this administration and yet we have not witnessed that much meaningful impact on the roads. |
