Fkhalifa: Baba, talent without Attitude will get nowhere. There is a reason morihno calls out players because he has a style of play and rather than let a player or group of players ruin it. He will publicly critic them. Honestly I do not fault what Arteta is bringing to the table and I don't care about stats this or stats that. When I sit down to watch the games , I want to see players busting their guts to close down space and passes. I want to see players making runs whenever we are in the attacking third. It's absolutely ridiculous to see only a few players do this while the others keep on strolling around . What is so hard about pressing talkless of even teams like southampton or villa. The players for me are a problem here cos in the second half of both games we played, it was clear that they have what it takes to put in the required effort but they are so damn lazy. Another run of horrendous fixtures are coming and there is no excuse for fixture congestion cos every other team will play this run. These players need the core of the invincibles to come and talk sense into them letting them know it was no gimme to go unbeaten and despite the talents they had, they also worked extremely hard to succeed. We can't have social media players ruining this club. I'd prefer like some suggest that we go to league one or championship to get talented but hungry players. I'm sure Arteta would do well with hardworking players. I also feel the Sanchez pain cos he was the last player we had that always showed a strong desire to press and never keeps running throughout the game. How long do we want to be carrying passengers in this team. All the points they lost was due to poor work ethic rather than the team being incredibly better than them. |

Roland17: As I was following you peoples conversation I expected you to show this out and u did which u just shoot yourself with. We clamored for attack, some pundits and fan clamored for defence which they did in Gabriel and Partey, the attack they got was an overused Willian. Back to the subject matter u said Coutinho, Aouar and Edouard were futile but Partey own was successful that should tell you the priority of the board is defence not attack. How much is Benrahama besides they are a lot of attackers in Serial, La liga, Bundesliga and co that wont fetch 30m and will do better than maddison if the problem is finance... Note: the only attacker in our team currently is Saka others should Bleep off away from my team. |

Roland17: Nah only Aouar dey market, even the Gabriel u talked about was Sarr not available for free b4 Chelsea signed him why not go for him that definitely tells us they know what they are doing. Ozil is your only playmaker you knw u gonna froze him out nd yet you failed to replace him with the hope of defense win u big. Baba, the defense we said they strengthened was not LB, CB, RB only the DM was strengthened also by getting Partey now imagine the funds of Partey, Gabriel nd Mr dancer(ceballos) was managed to get a winger nd AM will Attack b blunt? |

Akinbahm: Baba, You are not realizing the point. You can make an argument that they chased the wrong players and should have gone after your preferred options and that will be fair but to say the club did not prioritize the middle and attack shows you choosing not to see things objectively. The specificity of the player being chased is not yours or mines to make. The argument is the role and position of the players that were chased with concrete offers. So suddenly Partey is a defender? You make me laugh! The next thing we will hear now is that Partey was the wrong signing knowing fully well we don’t have any DM/CM better than the guy. The fact of the matter is, the club chased 4 midfielders, 1 striker. They scored with Partey and Ceballos and failed to get the others but because they were successful with getting one defender, then it is Gabriel’s problem? |

Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: Finally Reborn! The Red & White Army: FA CUP Champions 2020 by Roland17(m): 3:01pm On Dec 17, 2020 |
Akinbahm: Baba, abeg research well before you make spurious comments about transfers. Every team is is different and the way they conduct their business is different. The La Liga is clear about release clause’s. Arsenal met Partey’s release, the man had a year left in his contract and they did not want to lose him for nothing. If Partey wanted to stay, he would have renegotiated his contract with ATM which would have seen his release clause increase astronomically. Partey had a release clause of 45M which Arsenal met so ATM had no choice than to allow the man negotiate with Arsenal as he was uninterested in staying. Aouar has a release clause of 63M, Arsenal made 2 offers including upfront payments of nearly 50M which Lyon agreed upon but Aouar’s brother scuttled everything when he stared asking for some personal monies outside of the agent fees and etc. Lyon got mad and withdrew from the transfer, after all he is still their player with 2 years left I think. Arsenal were frustrated because they had their man but greed from his brother scuttled the thing. Please you guys should leave Gabriel out of your frustrations. Forward your frustrations to Edu and not Gabriel. |

Roland17:I reiterate, No one is saying Gabriel is a bad signing. Why Gabriel ish keeps popping up is because when the board were pushing for him while they went cold on the AM role. Then some of us pointed out this shouldn’t be the priority and we should go all out for the AM and possibly splash cash to accomplish it even if it means not going for Gabriel. We were met with with counter arguments and that was where the phrase “Defence wins you League” came up, the AM role got downplayed some even said modern football doesn’t need an AM. Don’t try to make the narrative like we are scapegoating Gabriel for the losses. 1 Like 1 Share |

kokanepyramid: Go back and read una comments from the last 3 pages including during the game and tell me with a straight face Gabriel is not being scapegoated! I don’t need to screen shoot anything, you go back and read for yourself before anyone deletes or modifies their comments.. You may not realize it but none of you are isolating Gabriel from your disapproval of the way transfers happened over the summer and that is what I am trying to show you guys. Infact, this morning, someone is now suddenly inferring that Partey was not a necessary transfer but they will still complain about Xhaka starting games. I guess it is AM or burst for you guys. The club chased 4 midfielders in comparison to a successful transfer of one defender and it is a BIG problem. Let it be clear that I have never undermined the relevance of the attack/ midfield and the club based on the facts available on ground did not either. If anything, only yesterday, Edu reiterated the fact that the obvious need of the club is AM. They are putting all their eggs in the Aouar basket again but una no go call them out now.. When the transfer fails again, you guys will come and tell me we prioritized defense because we argued defense wins championships. |

Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: Finally Reborn! The Red & White Army: FA CUP Champions 2020 by Akinbahm(m): 5:54pm On Dec 17, 2020 |
Roland17: Get the angle am coming from, they met Partey release clause because he's someone they needed in strengthening the squad then why didnt they do that for AM position because they didn't prioritize it much... When Man u needed an AM last season they went fully for Bruno without wasting time and he got them Top4 and dont forget they chase Sancho last transfer window which they failed to secure his signing do you think if they are lacking seriously in that position they wont find another alternative for sancho? Back to Arsenal matter if truly that position was prioritized as u painted it they will go fully for Auoar or another good alternative case closed. |

Akinbahm: I just need a yes or no answer please. Let me get you straight..and @Kokaneprodigy if he holds the same position. We should have thrown all our buckets and hook at the AM.. Getting anything other than that was a failure in the transfer window and is the reason why we are 15th? If we got an AM and did not get Gabriel/ Partey we would have not being 15th? And the team would have been playing better? |
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: Finally Reborn! The Red & White Army: FA CUP Champions 2020 by Akinbahm(m): 6:17pm On Dec 17, 2020 |
Roland17: Bro, the arguement started from we need attackers not defenders Proven wingers, and overhaul of the midfield, if they cant overhaul at least they should get us a solid DM and AM that's the position I personally clamored for. To your question getting a Proven AM in the mould of Bruno/KDB we wont be in 15th plus a Solid Winger... |

Akinbahm: As I expected, you don start to dey turn amala come even dey use embolden to show say you sabi say na trap I set for you! You are dribbling around with all these proven wingers and midfielders ish. Na simple question, based on the direction of your argument and your out of context examples of Bruno and Neymar.. adding an AM was going to resolve all our current problems and we would not be sitting 15th.. Well, let me assure you that even if you add the best midfielder and they have to play under the culture of this current team, you would see absolutely no difference. |

Roland17:My stance was clear and unambiguous going into the TW, AM and DM were the priority, equal priority none of the two should have been left undone, CB could come up if we still have cash making it the icing on the cake. |

Let's assume that we were financially constrained and only could sign one player. Based on our make up as at end of last season, I would easily go for the more defensive option. We got Partey instead of Aouar, for me that was better than the other way around. Had Partey been fit, Gabriel and other defenders would not be under so much pressure as to commit silly fouls that cost us games in recent times. Like I said, that does not in any way reduce our need for an AM. We need that for the team to be balanced, but the situation would have been far worse than this if we didn't strengthen defense at all. Partey and Gabriel were the first two priorities, the third was getting an AM. That added to the fact that we had the option of recalling Ozil if the need got so dire. An option that the club in their wisdom have refuse to activate. |

Going into the weekend round of fixtures, we have Everton calling... Our last match showed some improvements in terms of determination and work rate. Playing a rejuvenated Southampton side just 5pts below top place, was not going to be easy. But if Arteta had followed my advice to play Nelson and also put AMN in midfield he would won and not have suffered the draw. Here is my advice for Everton away. Auba........ Lacazette ...........Saka AMN.... Ceballos.... Elneny... Soares .... Tierney..... Luiz.... Holding......... .................... Leno........................ Subs: Nketiah, Nelson, Pepe, Willian, Willock, Chambers, Kolasinac Attack: Everton will have their tails up and smell blood so a counter attacking formation is what will suit us as we have no creative midfielder. Lacazette is ideal for ball holding while Aubameyang and Saka adds pace. Pepe would be a good option as super sub. 2. AMN will dangle between midfield and LWB positions as we attack or defend respectively. Soares should supply crosses. 3. Tierney will move into more advanced positions on the left as we attack. He should also provide crosses. This is a formation Arteta is well used to and has helped him in the past. With most of his best players now out, his best bet now is to defend and counter. With good discipline and accurate finishing we will secure all 3points. 1 Like |
