GODdamned marabout! next thing you know it's by his power and the spirit of his presence that the fellow was able to raise his hand and pray.

But I guess all we have really been asking for is proof of life but it would be more believable if it came from a reputable source, like a more trust worthy individual to start with.

But again, mind you, proof of life is sought because the fellow is being wished well, beyond that he should go sit his ass down and let a healthier individual run the ship of state!!! and that is for his own good!!

As for "Thisday newspaper" you actually think that's journalism?! hehehe!! GOODLUCK!!! and I don't mean the acting president!
Politics / Re: 30 Reasons Why We Couldn't Deliver The 6000mw by Quietrager: 11:43am On Dec 17, 2009
There is only one reason why we can't have power - steady power supply and its stares us in the face daily, all the time - CORRUPTION. Pure and simple.

This CORRUPTION thing, we must understand, transcends the giving and taking of bribe. It manifests itself in many ways including the use of inappropriate personnel.

For example when you have a seventy year old man as a security guard that's corruption. The fellow is not going to be chasing down and jumping over fences after some young thug! and that's a fact. When you have a pretentious use of labor intensive policy where appropriate machines should be used to clean the highways or tend the landscape - that's corruption. How much of the planet can one person sweep clean in a day and at what rate?

In respect to NEPA/PHCN how many of them are actually qualified engineers or lines men or technicians that are truly qualified. How long does it takes to discover and rectify a fault if you know what you are doing? But we live in darkness for years in some neighborhoods for the simple reason that the idiots that work for PHCN got the job for corrupt reasons, not appropriate qualification, and therefore have no idea where to begin to solve a problem whose solution is otherwise apparent.

This analogy transcends all spheres of our polity.
Business / Re: Lagos Generates N14b Tax Monthly –fashola by Quietrager: 1:19pm On Nov 21, 2009
Response by phuck LN on November 17, 2009, 05:00 PM »  transcript below is spot on!

I have not felt the impact yet and have one vehicle's steering system F*&ked up, even as I write from a damned pot hole on Ikorodu Road - for that matter.

And pray tell if the guy and his crew are so enlightened and expose why do they tolorate the crap Julius Berger and all their major contractors do in terms of time and manner of execution of projects? How long does it take to rebuild a less than 200 meter stretch of road by national stadium surulere? or the lekki strip? What is the cost and terms that with an income of N14b monthly it has not been completed - promptly? And they could care less about alternative routes or safety as they take their sweet time doing the job. Imagine doing an overhead pedestrian bridge as rush hour traffic drives under the beam that's being put in place. Are Lagosians lives so worthless as to be risked in such a manner? Please!

This is not a matter of sentiment - these are hard facts about reality. God help the likes of Berger Julius or whatever if it was in London they were doing what they are doing here. Whatever the case - it is just wrong!!! We deserve better and they know it!! We deserve more and better in all spheres - housing, eelectricity generating, roads, water, sewage treatment, security everything!! And the guy and his crew know N14bn monthly can do more than obtains now.

Forget sentimentalism.

Development cannot go all round Lagos once. You mentioned Lekki,VI Island. But let me tell you these are the major places that bring money. Any responsible governement will firstly spend money on places like before moving to other areas. Even at that, this is the first time I can see Local Govt repairing thier roads. This man has mandated them in repairing certain number of roads yearly. I m very sure it will go round. Let us all try and encourage this man and his team.

Are you okay. My generation has been waiting. My grandfather waited, my parents waited. They have all been obedient tax payers for the past 35years. We have nothing to show for it and you tell me to WAIT. Don't let me insult you.
To all of you making noise, the fact that the previous govt did not do what Fashola presumably is doing does not make Fashola a genius.

This is LAGOS for christ sake. I expect nothing less. You either steal money from the Lagos govt or u put it to good use.
This is the commercial nerve centre of west africa. Federal allocation or not, Lagos state government has more money than several states put together. Until the seat was moved to Abuja, most companies were headquartered in Lagos. many still are.

The idiots shouting negativity. :
What is negative about the truth. I have not been impacted by Fashola and i am saying it. What is negative about that.
We don't have water, the roads are terrible, and you are telling me to wait.
Note that i didn't include power because i am educated well enough to know that power is a federal issue.
Water on the other hand, isn't.

We all know we have the problems we have but you make your choice and live wherever pays you and or is most convenient or where fate has decreed you to be.

It is pure self deception to exonerate yourself from blame as a Nigerian from Nigeria's problem. We are all part of the problem and the solution and anyway it falls we all buggie and pay the price - like they say.

If I am too scared to take the bull by the horn or I don't quiet think I am ready to die for the cause I do the best that I can - complain loudly and as virulently as I can or plain shut up! move or stay - period. But just because you move or have the chance to immigrate does not mean you are better than those who bear their crosses in 9ja. Those that live abroad should bear this in mind - YOU ARE NOT SUPERIOR IN ANYWAY - jut because you live abroad!!!!

So, let us all bear our cross, face the same direction and put in our best to get this country of it's rear end!

FACTS

1. LASTMA official takes N25,000 BRIBE and gets SENTENCED to 4 YEARS IN PRISON!! Nice ehn!?!

2. BODE GEORGE - MR. CHAIRMAN BOARDMEMBER steals N87BILLION and gets SENTENCED to 2 YEARS IN PRISON!!-!! NOT 20 - NO!! NOT 200 - NO!! 2 AS IN T W O !!

3. Anti-corruption Czar and Nigerian Journalists and Nigerian Citizens (I nefa forget say me sef dey amongst OOOO!! - after all I am a citizen who has never been disenfranchised for one minute for that matter) praise the Judge!!!

4. Same Judge - ENJOY FACTS ABOUT Judgei:-VANGUARD

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2009/10/28/the-judge-who-jailed-george/comment-page-1/#comment-81647

A), he was not known as a fearless legal practitioner, fearless and courageous judge,

B), “he is an upright person, straight-forward, strong-willed and inincorruptiblean”, ”one of the most trusted radical student activists during his days at Ife”,

C), adjudicated is the EFCC versus Emmanuel Nwude and others including Mrs. Anajemba on the famous fraud on the Brazilian bank, defrauded to the tune of $264 million. He found them guilty of the offences. Apart from sending them to jail, he ordered the forfeiture of their properties acquired illegally from the proceeds of  the advance fee fraud,

D), also convicted the Pastor of the Christ Praying Assembly (CPA), Reverend Emeka Ezeugo, a.k.a. Rev King, for murder, sentenced him to death by hanging,

E), adjudicated on the case of  attempted murder of Mr. Alex Ibru filed against Major Hamza Al-Mustapha and others. Though, he was unable to conclude the case, since one of the accused persons, retired Lieutenant-General Ishaya Bamaiyi, a former Chief of Army Staff  (COAS), opted for a separate trial before him. Bamaiyi was eventually freed on technical grounds and for the failure of the state to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt,  - (dispassionate aside - if I was Cecilia Ibru I would never agree for this man to be my trial judge - NOT THAT I SUPPORT CECILIA OOOO! - just an objective aside if you catch my drift),

F), Oyewole also jailed an Ojota, Lagos-based Islamic cleric, Alfa Rasheed Yusuf and three of his accomplices —Morufu Olaleye, Musa Yusuf and Rafiu Ojesanmi. They were sentenced to 120 years imprisonment each on 12-count charge bordering on conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretence.

G), He sentenced them to 10 years imprisonment on each count and ordered them to pay $138,495, 200 pounds and N2.714 million as restitution to the victim, one Mrs. Aderanti Kayode,

SO:-

A) WHY 2 (T W O) YEARS?!?! for a crook that stole N87Billion from an outstanding Judge?!? Given the initial set of facts about the LASTMA Ofiicial etc - where is the Justice in the T W O year sentence that we should be happy about?? Pray Tell ME!!! (because Yes although he - Oyewole - failed in this case he seems to have passed other tests). We should divide N87Billion by N25,000 and multiple the result to get the number of years OLEBODE GEORGE deserves!!

That is N87Billion-:- N25,000 = 3,480,000.

Now we multiply this by 4.

So 4 X 3,480,000 = 13,920,000 years. That is number of years OLEBODE should be sentenced to prison for, going by the LASTMA issue should be 13,920,000 years!!!

B) What's all the thank GODs and soft sentimental journalism about?!? Do journalist even realize their position in this thing we call democracy?!? I think not. Journalist are suppose to be, "CALLING IT OUT - AS IT IS!!!". That is all that is asked of them and that is all they are suppose to have signed up for!! - to, "CALL IT OUT AS IT IS!!!" Not useless journalism!! - PLEASE!!

C) I'd be disappointed in the sentence if I was Nuhu - after all the effort, the MOFO gets just T W O YEARS (2) - GOD knows I'd be disappointed!!! And if only for that reason, I would be QUIET,
Politics / Re: Bode George Is Sentenced To 2 Years! Not Enough! by Quietrager: 12:16am On Oct 28, 2009
Did you see the psychopaths and hangers on?!! Yes, that's African culture for you? Yoruba tradition at its best!?! You cannot beat that!! I just feel like being cultural right now,

But back to the point at hand, folks it looks like we are never going to get out of the blocks on this corruption thing. It's like hoping against hope! I tell you.

How can someone who read law and became a judge defend such a sentence to us and posterity?, that two years is all Mr. Bode George deserved for such brazen thievery and disregard for law and order. (Think on this judge as you fool yourself and play the hypocrite at the next International bar Association meeting.)

How can anyone say this is well begun?, two years only?, hey if you ask me this is encouraging - two years for how many billions, eighty four you said? That's not a bad deal, I tell you.

I mean it's good enough to take, do the time and then enjoy the rest of life. After all what is so special about honor in a nation that is basically so depraved judges cannot seem to understand the gravity of criminal offences not to speak of ordinary lay men. Two years? just two years?!? Nah wa OOO!

A nation of losers that I can bet my life will elect a Soludo as Anambra State's governor. (This one is for the slowpoke who thinks it's about the Yoruba's alone.)

A nation of non-starters that would see confirmed financial scammers get similar two year sentences if their actual prosecution ever starts or if they get anything at all.

A nation of imbeciles that has seen and continues to see criminals slip into the seats of power and seat in them with more easy than it takes to draw a breath at rest.

A nation of shameless people who like ever immature children do not even realize they are at the butt of the joke when the world speaks of corruption.

A nation of such we are - the facts are laid bare to see and are constantly being reemphasized.

How on earth is one going to convince those coming behind that stealing, corruption is not proper, is not worth it without looking like a fool?!!

Two years?~! - How on earth is anyone going to take Nigeria serious when all a thief of such magnitude gets is two years!!!

A start my ass - again, an illustration of how low standards have gotten that Nigerians regularly settle for mediocrity. GOD HELP US!! And this is justice!!!

Nigeria!! - the country where the citizens are glad just because there is an allusion to the fact that they may have a birthright and thank The ALMIGHTY that it was at least mentioned that, they may have a birthright,

I am so disappointed - TWO YEARS - that's all?!!?
Business / Re: Sanusi Says: Bank CEO's Should Be Tied To Stake And Shot Dead. by Quietrager: 10:14am On Oct 26, 2009
Shot!! Simply SHOT!?!?! The guy is nice OOOO! Toooo nice. And if he is that nice then I am worried that he may not be up to snuff - if the job he has started is to be done well!! Haba JUST SHOT!?!?

Again, picture this, imagine that I am one of the very luckiest Nigerians and I happened to save - by dint of excruciating hard work, phenomenal favor of The Almighty, total self-depriving savings - ten million naira. (Bear in mind this is a country where unemployment is rife, business is difficult - no electricity, bad roads - long story short - no infrastructure literarily; extreme corruption). So you see, being son of no man I'd have needed all the luck and favor The Almighty Himself could give me, to have gotten to that point.

Any way, now, with my grand savings of ten million naira I retire officially at sixty five (had to cut my age by five years because it was the only way I could meet the age requirement for the job thirty years earlier and I, of course, did not want to starve) aching with the pain of a body that had been over worked and should have retired earlier and say I put my money is sea bank international plc or jump bank plc or jumbo strength unreliable bank or bank qjc plc - I am sure you get the point,

So being old, weak, tired and humbled - broken by the stress of a hard life but glad that I gathered some change (and that is what my paltry ten million naira is by bank CEOs and their hangers on standards) and now retire to live on the interest of my investment and life savings, which as a fixed deposit in a bank would earn me ten percent per annum (if GOD continues to favor me but more likely less given the reality on ground). But I am contented and figure that, say, seven hundred thousand a year would be enough to pay rents, buy me bread and tea and trifles for the grand kids for the rest of my life. That I'll at least live my last days in some dignity without having to beg.

But then mr or mrs CEO decides to buy a jet or home in "London Town" and "New Yark" and "Pariee" and give contracts to build/rent branches for billions in places that do not make sense (let's not talk about environmental impact assessment for traffic of some of these branches, especially in Lagos, or the effects if they had done the right thing and loaned out the money to legit businesses that would have generated jobs) but rather and in short stole deposits of poor men like me and their banks go the way of many other such institution and my deposit is trapped, lost, gone with a failed bank!!

The only sane option then would very well be suicide - pure and simple!! because there is nothing to live on or for anymore.

For someone under such circumstances to expect some failed bank corporation to do anything in good time would be a self-deluding exercise in futility. We all know that we have no pension public or private that is worth talking about - even those who are entitled to it officially, don't get it.

It is stolen and or they are frustrated into given up on it to death - literarily and when they are pitied and given "what they are given" it is not worth going to get from where they get it - if they can even afford the cost of transportation to go and get it. i.e. where the cost of transportion is not more than what they are to get. Sad ehn?!!

Now, bearing that in mind, the Mallam says they should simply be shot!!! That's too nice!!! I am serious!!! We need to watch that guy - he is beginning to compromise. I still recommend 150 years - no parole - in a six by four cell for the rest of their lives like the thoughtless animals they are!!!. And add twelve lashes of the cane each morning to their sentences. These people are heartless. Just look at the depth of our collective needless suffering, and dreams that could have been realized, but which have be permanently stifled!!

So what if the Mallam says they should be spared a couple of well deserved decades or more in prison to think over their evil ways by being shot, that is by the way excusable in the least except for the fact that he (Mallam) appears to be softening by recommending an easy way out for them. To end it is what they should do on their own - shameless people!!

I am sure there is some element of self preservation in your trying to muddy the waters - talking about an aside like someone was nice enough to suggest they should be shot!! (I think they they would be luck if that was the case but suspect they will be even much luckier; regardless!!!.)

However - I pray the judges and courts can think and see the implications, the gravity and level of depravity of their actions and that they (judges and courts) have a conscience - I pray also that The Almighty pay all of you back in kind!!! Perpetrators, Cooperators, Beneficiaries and Hangers on!!.!.

@ Enjoyment1, udezue, blacksta, lawrence83 and must a far.

After I'd laughed my self silly at you initial comments (and I have been doing so for days now) I recalled that we are usually prone to laugh at tragedy and cry at comedy, I should have wept for as long as I laughed,

So now, I am praying, most fervently, for that beloved state. The ambition of that guy surely knows no bounds!

We need to ask where he got the money to buy the consensus vote of his party - from the CEO's of the sick banks that the CBN had to take over? or a rich uncle that died and left him a large fortune? And to think we all thought that system was in good health, till the next governor stepped in to reveal the rot in the system,

Yes, Anambra will look as healthy as Dubai till the next governor steps in to reveal the rot in the system,

I tell you the more I think about it the more I realize how important it is we the people really have to keep the flame alive if we must get to the promised land,

Yeh, as bleak as it seems with twisted people aspiring and reaching critical positions till we the people shall reach the promised land, where desperate youngmen have a shot in hell to make it by dint of hard work and are not cynical about life, where the realization of a simple dream to live a contented life in peace with basic comforts is not too much,

Those roads are FEDERAL ROADS!!! and GOD forbid you blame the state they are in on superman because that could actually draw peoples attention to the state owned ones. I mean the BRT lanes for example and the state they are falling into could be picked on next, or the streets that are off those federal highways you so wrongly mentioned - the roads and streets superman is actually responsible for.

And don't tell me those are local government roads because those guys do not have your time. They have new cars to buy! So, lets not disturb them!! Maybe by the time every street is a local government and they (the streets chairmen) realize they need good roads to drive their new cars on, , any how.

Now, if you had mentioned a spot such as ogba - in front of mobil then you may have had a point or say a street in coker orile, (any one street in that ghetto or the state of the ghetto itself - that would actually have been considered a near valid observation), or the road behind M.K.O gardens (and to think the state's legislators live around there) or the streets in ipaja or the ones off say apapa - lagos expressway after sanya or parts of ikorodu or even alfred rewane in ikoyi (traffic would improve significantly - but this one maybe federal), or any road in festac, or okokomaiko then you could conceivable have been simply dismissed as a "disgruntled element", hungry man with bad belle! and that would not have been too bad! But you had to draw insult on yourself for making a correct accusation with wrong evidence. Shame on you!

The guy is tinubu's puppet and all that we will get out of him is a projection of his master's voice. As for his followers, (1) their standards are so low
they can be satisfied with mediocrity - give them their birth right and they thank you! (2) instead of listening to constructive criticism they will shout you down - most are psychopaths looking for favors - contracts, tickets for pilgrimage, gifts, position/appointment, allocation of land and/or property, how to perpetuate their ilk and/or kids in power, power to block a major street like opebi by adebola house because of a party!! (forget that place on a saturday afternoon - forget lastma - take another route!!!) and all the other usual rubbish (3) notice that like PDP the AC does not allow opposition - fighters for democratic governance and progressives indeed!! just like awo!

I honestly haven't seen anything new in Lagos in the past two plus years at least not in terms of core sensible physical development. Look at our schools - try the one opposite daystar church in oregun - chicken coops look better and superman rules? Please. And why does the state pay all the fake obas and otunbas and baales and chiefs it keeps creating or sanctioning - of what use are they to our general well being?!?! We know they can be useful when it comes to rigging elections but of what use are they to us - Lagosians in general? Those who taxes are used to pay for thier allowances. We live in ikotun, meiran, agege, orile, oshodi, epe, ikorodu, ajegunle, ijora badiya too not just ikoyi, lekki or victoria island!!

And don't start with BRT - that is stale and a tiny drop in the ocean for a city/state like Lagos. A lot more can and should have been achieved if those that have this state by the jugular stop looking out purely for their own self interest and people stopped kissing their butts.

So in future get your facts right - O.K!!. WRONG POT HOLES!!!!!

That they deserve to rot in prisons is a given - thanks for calling it out! They and the rest of them that are still running free trying to cover their own asses.

It is hard to believe they are the only ones. December joint year end should be revealing - many more counterfeits should surface. Fake cowboys, pimps, 419ers, crooks and their minions that call themselves banker's in this country.

Again it's hard to believe they are the only ones - the ones that have been nabbed. Some seem to have found more favor in the eyes of the Mallam. He should stop womanliness footing and clean out the stables thoroughly - ONCE AND FOR ALL!!! Maybe he is a saddist and wants to see them squirm small before he sticks them?!!! That's actually not a bad idea - ehn?!

I mean if your books are good and you do not have cash problems and you are not lending and are profitable it goes to say that you should not be desperate for more cash - correct?!. So why are the so called "stable ones" still pimping their staff and pressuring them to get money at all cost? Just asking OOOO. (The answer is obvious - they are up Shit's Creek (with no paddle in a sinking canoe filled with holes and nothing to bail the shit out with).

This thing is also a test of our judiciary. The CBN and EFCC and NDIC have the facts - right? Let's see what the courts do in the face of irrefutable facts the mallam has shown the Senate. Personally - I am recommending the Bernard Maddoff sentence - 150 years no parole!! for each of those suckers. And I am a nice guy, after all petty thieves that steal a few dollars are summarily lynched and armed robber are hung and/or face the firing squad. So you can see I am nice for suggesting (albeit strongly) 150 years for those that steal the hard earned money of innocent people under the urbane disguise and cover of a banking license to collect their money i.e. deposit. FING 419ers - In fact if this is not 419 (albeit with a valid banking license), I don't know what is!!! Let's pray our justices and courts have a conscience and DO THE RIGHT THING!!!

But don't let me digress! THAT THEY DESERVE TO ROT IN PRISON (HELL  WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE APPROPRIATE IF THEY COULD BE SENTENCED STRAIGHT TO HELL) - IS A GIVEN. Thanks for calling it out!!!!

What with the level of pure suffering we are in, have been in and for both the foreseeable and unforeseeable future we are going to continue be in, please tell us (again) why should their names not be published?!! {Thieves!! both them (those who's names were published) and their beneficiaries that don't want their names to be published. (Aside - Basic enemies of the freedom of information bill.)}

Those that are against current reforms are those that benefitted, those that want to continue benefitting and/or those that hope to benefit from the status quo in the financial or any other corrupt sector of this country (NEPA, NNPC & Co. etc). Lazy people who through patronage have gotten to or hope to live a lazy life free loading of the backs of the hard working multitude (or more like suffering multitude given the chronicly high unemployment level).

When I put my money (my little hard earned money) in a bank I expect to get it back when I need it for whatever reason, health, food, clothing, shelter - whatever. What am I suppose to do if I can't get it back when I need it?!!! PRAY TELL ME?!, (say because the bank has failed) and if especially for an important or urgent reason such as hospital bill or paying my rent.

Am I to wait under the bridge?!, - homeless?!!, or live on gulps of air?!!!, or simply hope to get better or not die without necessary medical attention!!! Am I to wait till some thieving bank's managing director refunds an unsecured loan?! or his friends and in-laws repay the loans he gave them?! or the price of stock rises so his good pally cum stockbroker can return the money he took from the bank!!! i.e. the hard earn deposits of many thousands of "fools like us"!!!.

The fools that we are trusted them to keep the change we call our life savings safe for us. Little did we know that we were simply contributing to fund their lives of luxury with our blood and tears.

How cold and callous can you be? How utterly insensitive and blind to the reality of the consequence of their actions??!! - to say their names should not be published even!!. ARRRRRHHHHHH!!!!!!, YOU MUST BE SICK - FING Murderer!!! These are people who's sentences should be no shorter than Bernard Maddoff's i.e. nothing less than 150 years without parole!!!

As it is, the whole process of apprehending, charging and sentencing them is taking too too long.

So what if it does not help the economy? It has never been well for the economy from us poor common peoples perspective. HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT OF IT FROM THAT PERSPECTIVE?!!!!!
Politics / Re: Homosexaulity Should It Be Lagalize In Nigeria? by Quietrager: 10:34am On Oct 10, 2009
HELL NO!!! HOMOSEXUALS are MENTALLY SICK!!!, PERVERTS!!! who need help - serious psychiatric help!

HOMOSEXUALITY IS AN ABOMINATION!!! of the worst sort!

Europeans and the west, like the Romans, are at the end of a sequence of events that indicates their era in the light is at an end.

Look at what's happening to them and compare it to what happened to the Roman Empire when it began to fail - overfeed homosexuals, lacking discipline, constantly waging unreasonable wars, with no moral compass and excusing everything as permissible under the guise of running a republican democracy and individual freedom! Rubbish!!! and their society like a stupid permissive parent is saying it's a child's right if all he wants to eat is sweets!! They are lost!!

I know of no major religion that does not condemn this completely unnatural act. gays do not seem to realize that they would not have come into existence if their parents did not follow the natural course of things.

We should learn and must "open eye" not do follow follow - recognize the illness for what it is and treat it by remanding them to psychiatric prisons to be treated and instilled with the fear of GOD and a working moral compass.

Legalize insane immorality?!! NO WAY!!

Don't let it cross your mind again!!! angry sad shocked embarassed
Politics / Re: Our Lawmakers Want To Be Above The Law by Quietrager: 6:52pm On Oct 08, 2009
That they can even contemplate it is reflective of the kind of sick twisted minds Nigerian's have, minds that that are so twisted and sick with how to aggrandize themselves when they get a little power. Someone should point out that the U.S senator that is now their vice-president use to catch the train to and from their national assemble to work for a decade more or less, maybe by the time the whole sick nation is above the law, and the praise singers, hangers on, psychopaths, shameless ass-kissers, cowards - who can watch their sister's be raped and beaten to death even!, in front of their very eyes, rather than risk a bruise (not to talk of voicing opposition to a bill that stinks to high hell!!!), cynics, did i forget hypocrates, wise asses and the usual groups we all fall into that make up the almost total majority have nothing to say at best, yes! me too!!, but then - when will we all change!!!
