Hello everyone! Is there anyone applying to study in Canada and travel with their kids? I am filling my forms and there is a requirement for letter of acceptance from a school to apply for study permit for the kids too. I thought I will find them a school once I get there. The IRCC website says

"Minor children before entering Canada
Minor children who want to study in Canada must apply for a study permit before they enter Canada. This includes minor children who come with parents who already have a valid study or work permit.

If they’re coming to Canada with parents who have a valid study or work permit, they don’t need to provide a letter of acceptance from a school when they apply for a study permit.

Before your minor child travels to Canada, make sure their DLI is on the list of those with approved COVID-19 readiness plans. They won’t be able to enter Canada if their DLI isn’t on this list"

Is this in relation to double SIM phones or brand of phone? I'm using a Samsung double SIM phone and I don't want phone to be part of what I worry about when I get to Canada.

Your advice pls.

Depends on the compatibility of the phone with the service provider's network. I brought my dual sim Samsung note 5 with me to canada and I have used it on Virgin and fido. You can confirm the compatibility of your phone on a service provider's website too

God gracious! I'm desperately in need of the book . Infact, forget i ever typed pdf. lol

I'm not in Toronto, but it's not a hindrance biko. I'll pay for cost of courier to Nigeria (your terms - either pay before or after courier). When I come to Canada in September, I'll send back the book to you. No hassles at all biko.

Thanks alot in anticipation @RahmaMohammed.

Sorry about this. Does this mean that if we are exchanging using this means (that transfer naira in nigeria in exchange for CAD in canada) , It may be better to collect cash rather than let the person transfer directly to my canadian bank account ?

Will I be charged heavily for depositing a large amount of cash in my canadian account ?

Cheers

Yes you are correct. It is better to collect cash when you buy forex and declare the cash when you land in Canada. No, I am not aware of any charges for depositing large sums in your canadian bank account.

Thanks for your prayers. Not a problem. We can PM about where you want the book sent to. What exams do you intend starting off with when you arrive? There are NCA exam groups on facebook that you might find helpful in terms of study materials (summary of text materials sold for a fee, online and in person tutorials).
All the best

You do not need to visit any branch physically to do international transfer,it can be done online

Call costumer care, they will explain to you

However, when you do the transfer, depending on the mode the foreign currency came into your account (cash deposit or inflow, cash deposits attracts more charges) you are limited to a daily transfer of $10K per day with charges as high as more that N25k per transfer

[b]But I heard some guys, that lives in Canada, do the exchange for you and transfer the money straight into your Canadian Bank account (you can google this for details) with that you avoid the charges by the bank

Please be careful with whoever you use in changing your naira to CAD (including bureau de change). We (my family) are currently still accused persons in a fraud case over the money we money we bought from a bureau de change in lagos which was transferred to our canadian account. Apparently, some yahoo boys defrauded some Canadian lady and unknown to us, we bought the money.

Hello @Blackbuddy,

I am reaching out to you based on one of your old posts here where you spoke about understudying the canadian job market and how you have a career in AML. I would like to chat with you about the job market in this field and your experience. I just concluded a masters degree in law in Canada and I am considering transiting to a career in AML with plans of writing the ACAMS certification. I sent you an email earlier. Hope to hear from you. Thank you
