Crime / Re: How Woman Was Arrested After Taking A Missing Child To Police Station In Lagos by sammoR: 2:25pm On Aug 21, 2017
I am really tired of this so called country. I can count how many such cases. My friend once helped a man that was knocked over by a hit n run driver. The guy was dying n cos she couldnt help it, she mobilised and took him to the hospital. After making sure doctors attend to him, she proceeded to the police station to do a report. U wont believe that d police siezed her there n then. They were literarily dragging her to put her behind d counter. She had to leave her car that night. Eventually she got the police officers involved to do her an apology after caling round. I avoid police like a plague.

Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by sammoR: 7:38am On Jul 15, 2017
I just forwarded one of the mail notification i got from TLS to her that had my reference no. She was told my application was expected that day, that was on Tuesday 11th. I had paid for courier but I instructed her to tell them not to send by courier, I'd pick it up myself. U know d TLS pple do things at their own pace. So i went wednesday n picked the passports. Both me n my wife got. Booked my flights same day. I paid for priority tho. I noticed my documents were bagged in a green bag while evereyone was bagged in a red. The red bags were so many. I was there as they carried all the bags. There were 2green bags, mine and another on top of like 100 red bags. If d time is short, its best to pay for priority. So in all, it took 1 week and 1 day. Submitted my documents at TLS on the 3rd of July, it was decided 6th and I got my passport back 12th July. I think the key is understanding the documents n their processes.
amehrada:
Please what information did you give the person who went to check for you? I didn't know you can send someone to check. I don't reside in Lagos and ukvi shows that my application has been decided since on the 28th June but no update from TLS.
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by sammoR: 9:12pm On Jul 11, 2017
thanks a lot. i sent someone to check n dey said its ready. dey also updated the details on my application tracker. i'll go pick it 2moro
ekpotek:

If you live close to the TLS, I will suggest that you visit them with your collection slip. If your passport is no there, Go to nearest the British High Commission. Buying a ticket just a week to departure will be too expensive. Anyway, that the price you will have to pay.

Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by sammoR: 10:30am On Jul 10, 2017
Good morning Ekpotek and all our travel gurus. I need your advice. My application reads decided, it was decided 6th July, however tls is yet to update the details and i haven't gotten any e-mail. The issue is I am supposed to travel this weekend for my graduation holding next Monday. Flights not booked and I am running out of time. What would you advice? Do I go to the tos contact center or wait? In ur experience, how much time does it take to get the passport from when it's decided? Thanks
ekpotek:

How then will you proof your source of income or financial ties to Nigeria, if you failed to disclose your business account. Being self employed is not a crime. You need to package your application to convince the ECO that you will return back after your visit.

Yes

Do you mean the usual debit atm card?
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by sammoR: 8:02am On Jul 09, 2017
Use an accessbank card if it's just one person. I used an accessbank card for mine and it worked but had to use a dollar card to pay 4my wife
inphoenix:
A naira MasterCard will probably not work because it usually has a limit of $100 and the visa application fees is more than that. Try a dollar card. Some on this thread have said they used paga, you may want to check out the posts to see how they did. I've seen the details somewhere on the thread.

Health / Re: 'Human Snake' Indian Girl Thrown Out Of School As Her Appearance Scares Others by sammoR: 5:56pm On Jan 29, 2017
There is a girl in Jos with this exact same condition. She begs around that British America Junction. Everytime I see her my heart goes out with a lot of compassion. A friend tried to help her once along with one white Doctor before the doctor relocated back 2d US but I think there isn't any cure. So she has resorted to begging. The most touching part is what she says everytime she is given cash, she goes: Thank you Dad! in good, almost perfect English. Once I gave her 1k in 200s I think. I was surprised looking through my side mirror and couldn't believe it, she was actually sharing the money with one other blind beggar. Another time, I gave her only one note and her beggar friend was there, she goes-please give my friend also. As a man, I almost cried. Despite her condition, it was apparent she has a good heart.
Politics / Re: Whistle Blower: NIM Backs FG On 5% Reward by sammoR: 8:14am On Dec 28, 2016
My simple advice to any potential whistle-blower: Remember we are in Nigeria, your life is more important than the 5% Government will give you. Once u r dead, dis Federal Govt will not take care of d people u leave behind(take a cue from d lives of a lot of our past heroes) and d probability of any justice being done is almost nil. While the 5% promised might be ok, is the government willing to and capable of provide protection for people? Where d life of d whistle blower is threatened or in danger, can the police protect and for how long? Take a cue from Rivers, its an example of how far politicians can go. There is no regard for life in Nigeria and bad people will do anything to protect themselves including ending the lives of potential threats. They will also most likely get away with it. What d federal Government should do is put policies in place that tackle police corruption, pay police men well, ensure their families are well taken care of, let them do their jobs the way they should and the whole country will rearrange itself.

Politics / Re: EL-RUFAI Describes Variants Of Boko Haram Including One "Sponsored By Christians by sammoR: 7:54am On Dec 12, 2016
I had thot El-Rufai previously to be somewhat sensible but this... So it is Christian and political boko haram still controlling large areas of Maiduguri n Sambisa with thousands of indoctrinated followers? Or its the same group that kidnapped Chibok girls n appears to be stronger after the exchange that earned them more money to restock weapons? While I believe that its probably true certain politicians may be involved in some acts of terror under the guise of boko haram, the truth is that the shekau group is still very much alive cos their ideology is hard to kill especially in the light of their alliance with terror groups such as ISIS. We also need to do more as a country to integrate the Almajiris into society cos they are a sure way Boko Haram will always have sustainable recruitments over time. I see the young children around in the north, people shoving them away, hungry, tired and aggressive. As they grow up with d psyche of societal rejection with no training and skills, nothing to do, brotherhoods like boko haram become attractive, there they find purpose, food, shelter, drugs, drink, women and an outlet for the aggression built over the years. I see them and I see problems in our future as a nation which won't end. Let's learn from the example of Europe. May God give us sincere leaders with the wisdom to know what is right to do, and the willingness and strength to do it as well as the sincerity to stop trading blames n take ownership of the future of this country!!!

This is what I was saying on another thread about transportation business in Nigeria. It isn't as rosy as it looks ,yes you see them counting big money but when they give u a break down of their operational cost you will wonder how they break even. The same with aviation too.
dont you think bad service is a contributing factor? Customers who are treated badly will hardly ever patronise them again and will spread the word.

Family / Is ABC Transport Company Going Down? Pixs by sammoR: 9:26am On Jan 25, 2016
I think Nigerians are entitled to and should demand good service for anything we r paying for. There is a dearth of service issues from service providers all over and i think we need 2start speaking out and rejecting these no matter how small. ABC transport is about the most popular and seqemingly well structured transport services. They were known for always being on time, friendly staff, well serviced buses, excellent safety records n all but all that's gone now, well except for the safety record but anything service related is gone! I have had several bad experiences but kept patronising them while making excuses that these were one off normal operational issues but my experience last Saturday was the final straw.
I paid N6,900 for the ABC sleeper bus from Lagos 2Abuja hoping to get to Abuja early, run around some b4 getting a bus 2 J-Town and save some money. The bus was scheduled 2leave at 5. We waited until 8.30 before a bus was eventually available. As soon as the bus left their Jibowu park, I knew there was something wrong. The bus dragged along, several parts seemed 2b out and there were noises from clanging parts in different parts on the bus. Well the bottom line is that the bus stopped just outside of Lagos. Turned out the bus was bad, something about the balloon seating which was welded just before the journey. Knowing the bus was bad, the management put a mechanic on board to take care of things. He tried. We left Lagos at 9p.m saturday but got to Ibadan at 2.30 am sunday when the bus packed up. Apparently they requested another bus which didnt come till i left there at 5.30 back to Lagos n boarded the 9a.m Dana flight to Abuja cos of the things i had 2do. All d savings i wanted 2make, i just didnt care cos i was so tired from lack of sleep and mosquito bites and there was no way i could endure another 12 or more hours in that bus. I am sure the remaining passengers would get 2abuja by 6.pm. sunday from 5pm d day b4. I just called the customer care line now on 07042226222 and the lady was telling me she wasn't sure a refund was possible. The motor boy had complained that they will refuse to pay them on the pretext that customers in such situations would request for refunds but they still wont pay d customers which turned out to be true. I am posting this out of anger. I am going to write them a strongly worded letter through a lawyer(if i get one). They must refund my money. Other passengers on d bus also talked abt bringing this here so people can share experiences. Abc management should sit up. It doesnt take long for seemingly big organizations to go down. This is how it starts!
Religion / Re: Primate Ayodele Unveils His Prediction For 2016 by sammoR: 8:10pm On Dec 28, 2015
Are these prophecies? They are more like deductions made from careful study of the Nigerian economic and political environment n not some God-given prophecies. Its stuff like this that undermine men of God and their calling. Just say this is what you can deduce from current happenings. Thats how one came n said God told him he will be president!

Career / Re: I Sent The Wrong Salary Schedule To The Bank by sammoR: 5:37pm On Dec 09, 2015
U have part of the fault and its a good thing you owned up to your fault. The honest truth is that you had the duty of care to ensure what you sent to the bank was correct. However, you should not be asked to repay the excess credit members of staff who are still there and working got. To me that bothers on high levels of poor judgement and trust me it might not be long before this company folds up. Considering the thought processes that would have gone into making a decision this callous and stupid. The straightforward resolution is to have the staff refund the excess they received or have it deducted from their subsequent salaries. I think u need to look for another job. U mention corruption n all, sooner than later, the company is going down.

First he was welcoming comedians, next he is in club. It's ok to club n be jaiye jaiye but I think Ambode needs to get his priorities right. Lagos is fast deteriorating in the few months under his watch, traffic is back, no one respects brt lanes any more, all sorts of unruly behavior back in the streets. Before u know it, we are back to the way were were many years back. The state is 20 million plus people n needs a firm, steady hand to ensure order, discipline and sense, not this butty butty jaiye let's chop life kind of style. I heard Fashion hardly had anytime for himself. All work n no play is bad, but all play n no work? Naaaa!!!!

Reading this I am shaking with anger coz I experienced something close to that with one politician. I was just wishing they will touch my car. I have seen this happen in portharcourt where a convoy was on the wrong way and these same policemen came down and started breaking headlights of people who were on their right side of the road. You have the pictures. Leave the vehicle the way it is for now. Take pictures of your brother in his state, then look for a good lawyer and Sue. Use your Facebook and social media. People have gotten judgement against the military and we should not sit and allow this happen. Nigerians should rally round this family. Enough is enough from these stupid politicians! See the impunity, she should take it wherever she wishes. One thing I know is Buhari and Osinbajo will never be a part of this. Please petition the presidency also and the house of assembly!! We voted them in and they have no right to do this in any guise at all!!!

I'm almost inclined to believe the school of thought that this Presidency has a hand in the insurgency in the North. His callousness shows it. How come its always b4 he does anything? One could also say he sponsors it to whip up undue sentiment, dats y he is so unfeeling. Now Ihejirika and Alimodu Sheriff, both his cronies are going to be investigated by the ICC based on the accusations of this Australian negotiator. Honestly, I believe GEJ is not far from this thing. E commands the military, spends billions, after it all BH keeps adding to their territory. Nigerian army isn't this weak! This government is involved joor. Everything comes to light with time.

His campaign slogan is even a joke. Nigerians First, Nigerians always!! Indeed. More than 50 children dead in Yobe just yesterday, not one word of empathy from our President. How many boys murdered in their domitories, our president was dancing at a rally the next day. How many girls kidnapped till date, first it was denial, took how many weeks b4 our President responded. The list is endless. The Slogan should be GEJ first, GEJ always. The level of callousness GEJ has shown is disturbing. He doesnt deserve a 2nd term abeg. E don do.

Use the army n police, block roads, open n close airports, ground flights n all. I hail you almighty GEJ. But when it comes 2solving issues concerning Nigerians, light, education, health, security, he remains clueless. Weldone baba.

if he is really that sure of getting the votes of Nigerians, why not leave the race open? Thats what real men do. This consensus candidate thingy is a soo chicken hearted thing to do. If u are that confident in the legacy you are building bringing u back, why close out everyone? Smells of a total lack of self confidence. Of course these last 6 years, we can count more failures than successes. Even in the successes, the sheer amounts spent to achieve anything reeks of a lack of sense n purpose. He has reason 2b scared. If GEJ wins, he has 4years 2redeem his name but that is not even possible. All over the world, where u find such levels of impunity n corruption, no meaningful development takes place. Nigerians should stop hailing mediocre achievements. Imagine a Nigeria where since the discovery of oil, our leaders took time, planned and deliberately developed this country the way Singapore, UAE etc choose 2develop their Nations. Jonathan had 6years 2write his name in gold in the history of this nation. He choose 2do otherwise. There are no 2nd chances at making first impressions. Even if pdp choose him as their candidate, Nigerians, GEJ is not the man we need. He' s had 6years of failures, stupid insensitive broadcasts, a lack of tact and the only place he has shown 2know wat he is doing, is in tackling perceived opposition. Nigerians, Lets use our votes wisely

Birds of the same feather, they say flock together. This Olisa Metuh guy is just as empty headed as the person he serves. You can attribute so many statements so lacking in common sense to these set of people. The fact that they are capable of such levels of lack of reason negates whatever good they seem to be doing, reveals their half hearted attempts towards the welfare of the Nigerian state and provides enough reason to vote them out. I am from the Niger-Delta but Gid forbid I vote GEJ again on the premise of either tribe or religion. The first time was a costly mistake! I can vote a muslim muslim ticket even though I am a christian. Buhari to fight corruption n bring all these people to book, Fashola for development as he has done in Lag. These guys have records and all those hating have yet to prove a thing. Buhari doesn't have my vote yet, but Jonathan certainly does not have it even if whoever I vote looses. But GEJ, naaaa!!!! Just saying.
