Isis-Naira:

Really hope that Justina wins this show!!!  ,   if she has good songwriters, she can make it big and all of us very proud!

Isis - I agree with you, I think that Justina has great potential to make it on the international stage.
I was in Switzerland as an exchange student last year and saw one of her shows (Florian, I think I may have seen you with her then). She really got people excited and one of the main Swiss newspapers ran an article about her in which they compared her to the young Miriam Makeba. They were predicting that she is going to be the next big music "export" from Africa.

I also really hope she makes it and wins the show.

I saw the show on Saturday. Both Justina and Christine sang 3 songs that they have composed to soundtracks they were given.

I liked Christine's songs but she just does not excite me when she is on stage. She should become a songwriter and write songs for others and especially for Justina who once again stunned me with her performances.

Since they are looking for a Nigerian allround star and not necessarily for the best songwriter, there can only be one winner: Justina!!!

Everytime I see her on stage, I am more impressed. She really has what it takes to be a star. I would travel to Port Harcourt or Kano or wherever if she performed there, just to see her!

So, it's Christine and Justina in the finals.

I am thrilled Justina made it through but would have preferred Enjel and Justina. Christine is a good songwriter but really boring on stage. Justina is a much more passionate and exciting performer. I hope that she will make it!

Hi all,

it seems that this forum turned into a real community - quite amazed to read how a music competition can stir people's interest in meeting each other.

Anyway, just wanted to turn your attention to another music competition - Nokia First Chance - and to quite an amazing singer, Justina who is one of the three people left in the competition.

Justina has a fantastic voice and is quite an amzing performer. I just read an interesting comment about her on another forum of the nairaland site - www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-44331.96.html.  She won Project Fame three years ago, together with Dare but didn't get to go to South Africa for the finals because she didn't have the money to get a passport and nobody helped her out, so someone else got to go instead. She has a website and there I read a similar version of this story - www.justina-ogunlolu.com/biography.htm

After watching her performing live several times, I have no doubts that Justina would make us Nigerians proud. She would make a stunning duet partner for Timi - if Timi doesn't forget the lyrics that is wink smiley

So check her out and give her your support - she really seems to deserve it!!

Haven't found a specific website either. However, the show is on various channels on Saturdays and Sundays (STV, NTV, Galaxy).

Hi everyone,

just came across this site and found it interesting to read everyone's views. I have been following Idols and - as many here - have been sad about some of the best people being voted out of the competition while others are still there.
As for most people on this forum, my facourite is Time. However, anticipating further disappointment with regards to the voting results, I have been watching Nokia First Chance a couple of times and find some of the contenders there much more capable than those remaining at Idols West Africa (with the exception of Timi).

On the male side, I think that the strongest singer at Nokia First Chance is Enjel whose voice could easily compete with Timi although he clearly does not have the stage presence that Timi has.
On the female side, my clear favourite is Justina - she has an amazing voice and a stage presence far better than anyone's at Idols (including Timi!) - I saw her on stage once and literally was blown away, as was pretty much everyone else who saw her. What I really like about her is how natural she is, how she is visibly enjoying what she is doing and the way in which she connects with both the audience and the songs - the enthusiasm with which she embraces every song she sings and makes them her own.
I also find Justina a lot more attractive than any of the female singers on Idols - I checked out her website (www.justina-ogunlolu.com) and there are some quite appealing pictures of her - check out www.justina-ogunlolu.com/pic06e.htm.

One thing I prefer about Nokia First Chance compared to Idols is their voting system which I find more tuned towards allowing the best contender to win as the judges' opinion weighs in the decision on who is evicted. Thus, it will be impossible for a voting cartel to keep a less capable singer in the competition as we are seeing it happening at Idols West Africa.

I will continue cheering for Timi at Idols but if he is voted out, I will turn my full attention to Nokia First Chance as the true West African Idol might actually be found there.
